"All right then,"Garavant says to Sila and the two ex-prisoners. "Let's see about that chimney first."Garavant will follow Sila to the site of where she snuck into the complex, offering assistance as best he can, while keeping alert as possible.
The girls – Geradil and Courana – decline to take any weapons but follow Garavant and Sila to the fire room. Looking at the chimney that Sila descended, they try to work out a way to climb up and out.
“I can make it” says Geradil, confidently. But her sister is worried “There’s no way I could” says Courana, “not without a rope to help me”
@Lucy:
Artemis heads up the northern corridor and emerges into the same room that the other corridor led to; it’s clearly a large room. Apart from more crates and sacks, she finds nothing of note.
Glancing at the coals, Sila dismissed them commenting, "Don't worry they are cool enough and won't hurt you if you pass quickly." Then she takes out the Hemp rope she used earlier and slips back up the chimney, helping the first up then securing the rope and pulling up the other with the sisters help. She looks about to make sure its clear for them. "Are you from the town nearby? Can you make it there ok? Are you sure you don't want a weapon?"
(if Garavant still had the rope, she'll ask him politely for it before proceeding.)
Artemis looks over the big room. The white owl sends her thoughts to the bladesinger. At the same moment, Lucy opens her eyes and mutters. "The northern tunnel only connects to the room with boxes and sacks. There are no orcs in this area…for now." Clamping her lip, Lucy puts all the puzzle she just learned together. She darts to the chimney room and calls out to the sisters. "Hey girls! Before you leave. Tell us what you saw. How many orcs have you seen here. What did they say? Do you know their leader?"
Geradil and Courana greatly appreciate Sila’s help with putting the rope in place. They are about to start their ascent up the chimney when Lucy rushes in to the fire room with her questions about the orc garrison.
“I counted about twenty when they gathered for a meeting of some sort, although I can’t tell if that was all of them. They are quite well organised and have made a few comments about ‘patrols’, so who knows how many are actually here right now?”
At the question of the leader, Geradil shudders “An ogre leads them, a giant brute they call Great Ulfe and who keeps two pet dire wolves by his side at all times. He has a lieutenant, a smart one by their standards, they call something like Yark or Yarrak”
(If there are no further questions then the sisters climb the chimney and leave. Your options now are to explore the large room to the north or the secret door to the east)
"Let's find out what is behind the secret passage!" and a bit ashamed Bree motions Garavant to take the lead: "But could you go first please, I think you are better at this kind of stuff"
Garavant wishes the girls well and good speed back to their village. He smiles and looks them each in the eye in turn before they begin their ascent. "I thank you for the valuable intelligence on our enemies,"he says. "And be sure to let those you know at home know of those who freed you and slew the orcs." He takes a slight bow and bids them farewell.
As the group plans its next move, Garavant joins the others in investigating the secret passage. He searches the area for any signs that the secret door may be rigged with a trap or a tricky lock of some kind.
"Thanks. Now take this." Lucy hands the money (5gp and 4sp), she got from the dead orcs."it's not much but better than nothing. Good luck girls. Hope you can back town safely“
Lucy leads others to the rocky room with a secret door. She helps Garavant to find the door then stands watch in case Orcs jump out from the shadow. Artemis,the white owl on the other hand,takes a nap at a huge boulder, preparing for another scout job.
(The girls are incredibly grateful for the coins and promise to never forget this debt)
Garavant locates the secret door identified by Artemis and swings it open. On the other side, a worked passage continues for about 40 feet in a reversed s-shape up to a blank wall, marked with hexes and curses in an unknown language.
There within the wall, obvious to all except Bree, is another secret door. It looks as though it swings away from you.
Sila looks at the others, "With your agreement..." She aims a dagger at the far wall/secret door. "or do you think we are too close?" (She waits for confirmation before throwing the dagger at the far door)
"Well,actually it's another secret door with ominous scrabble on it" Luck gazes at the door for a moment. Then she reluctantly asks the Halfling. "Ah… Bree, can you detect the magic on that door? I mean…I know that spell but how to say? It's not my field of speciality" When Lucy was an apprentice wizard, she had no interest in learning spells such as Detect Magic because they are not combat related. Now standing in Orc's den, facing a possible magical trap, Lucy starts to think that maybe… they are more handy than she have thought.
"I do know that spell yeah.... Don't have it in my head currently, but given some time I can cast it following the instructions on my skirt. Do we want to take that time? I'm kind of curious to understand what the scrabble says!" She starts sitting down to do the incantations to cast Detect Magic studying the patterns on her skirt, tracing it with her fingers.
((OOC: Feel free to interrupt her if we don't want to take 10 minutes, she clearly doesn't mind, she probably would also just walk up to it to study it without the spell 🤷♂️))
Now that her friends point it out, the secret door becomes obvious to Bree. The markings themselves mean nothing, although she recognises the structure of glyphs and symbols that indicate they are words in a language that she does not speak.
As Bree sets about her ritual, carefully following the sequence of movements and incantations that she recalls for this version of the spell, Garavant further scrutinises the door but to no avail.
After the ritual is complete, Bree's eyes turn pale as she studies the door with arcane insight...
@Bree:
The door and surrounding area are neutral, no magical aura at all. However, on the other side of the door and about 20ft away you detect the distinct aura of a moving source of arcane power, a jumble of the magical schools which indicates a spellcaster. It moves sporadically and sluggishly, indicating a creature at rest.
Seeing that Garavant came to no harm moving closer, she studies the writing on the door as well, careful not to disturb Bree's ritual. Then noticing Bree's eyes change..
"What is it Bree? You see something?" She whispers urgently sheathing her dagger.
Bree will just wait for the others to do their thing, ready to run into action if she hears trouble from the others.

While Bree works on her ritual, Garavant moves up to the secret door. He squints at the markings then checks for signs of traps, locks, etc.
