Verne walks back into the common room from his morning rituals just as Storm is handing out the loot. "Thank you, sir!" He snaps to attention as the transaction occurs. He quickly adds the coins and gems to his coin pouch, not counting them but trusting in his leader that it was a fair share for the effort he had put in.
He retires to an empty chair and begins to stuff whatever breakfast items where served that morning.
Patter blinks for a long time at Verne's salute, and then glances at Shrink, and Ethan. Then he grins to himself, and goes back to his breakfast, and looking at the letter.
"Be ready to go once the meal is done." Storm calls to the group as he hands out the coin pouches. "We are going to be on the road within twenty minutes..."
Atem sits down at the table casually, setting one of his booted leg on the other knee, and half-heartedly starts his breakfast. To fill the stomach before another day of fight. He smiles as he takes the coin pouch from Storm, tossing it up into the air and catching it, the clinking sound of coins music to his ears. "Always ready, boss." He teases, putting the coin purse away.
As it seems nobody was interested in the Periapt of Wound Closure, grandpa spend the last hour of his rest investigating it with his tinker tools. (attuning it)
"Ready to go Storm" he says as he walks to sit on Black after the meal.

Patter I think would be helping to coordinate scouts (rogues and stealthy folks, plus some wildshapers) and outriders, and scouting himself.
I'd guess they'd also have a horse and cart or two, and pose loosely as merchants? Marching in formation would be reserved for specific uses, I'd guess.
((I'll let you all sort it out, keeping in mind abilities, and items. I'll take Perception checks from those who would be in a role to be making them.))

Ayen is in front of the main group, in front of the other scouts. Keeping 500-600 feet between himself and the others. He's not trying to be stealthy, but with his shield and life experience, not much escapes his eyes. With his horn, he can alert the others from a distance without informing anyone else that there are others. His role here is to spot ambushes before it's too late, and alert Storm if something happens. If the others are attacked from behind, well... it's assumed he'll notice the ruckus, or that the others could handle themselves.

As we are only a group of 11 I would assume not more than 2 scouts/outriders as we would weaken ourselves to much otherwise. I can send red as a scout as well of course; although we should have a clear specification of what to look for than I think.
Regarding traveling formation I would assume low profile, as well.

Verne would be traveling with the main group, chatting with the horses ((Speach of the Woods)). Always listening to the group though, just in case an order was issued by either squad leader or Storm himself.
You set out, cutting across on some smaller roadways, looking to join up with more major thoroughfare in about a week to be able to head towards your destination.
A handful of days of travel pass without much of note, Ayen scouting ahead puts the rest of the unit largely at ease. If there's trouble, your small companion is likely to notice it. Your party is large enough that even if there were any beasts that thought Ayen might look a snack, the other ten of you following fairly shortly behind him deters any wild animal attacks. You pass a few other groups, merchants and the like, but your odd appearance has them largely keeping on. The last two days have been quiet, without encountering anyone else on your travels.
In the mid-afternoon, Ayen glances back and notices a plume of dust rising from the party's backtrail, someone is approaching, and fast.

Ayen pulls the reins, leading the horse to a stop. He looks around once, making sure there are no hidden ambushers (should I roll Perception? 9) before turning his horse back and riding towards the party. It might not be anything important, but playing safe hadn't led to his death just yet.
Storm hands 70 gold to each person, including himself. He then places the other 80 in the communal pot. (Sounds good to me.)

Rusty just nods, still trying to fight the urge to have a nice grass snack.

You say your goodbyes to Quick and his staff, get your mounts situated, and hit the road.
Is there a particular formation or protocol to the units travel? Scouts and out riders? Traveling 'openly' or low profile?

I guess I should roll Perception? 21

Yep, low-profile, as much as this group can be anyway. lol.
I think the single outrider is a good plan for this sort of travel.
Storm will be riding his horse, but there would be no military-style marching, just organized chaos. I.E. planned casual positions.
((Sounds like it's agreed that Ayen is riding in lead of the group? Ayen, give me a Perception check, and remind me of your passive floor please.))

(He had a 23 perception added to his post above...)
This, unless you want a second one. In that case, 14.
Passive Perception is 19.
