After the feast, Kendes retires to discuss the situation with the others.
"Remzir. His lackey Cyanwrath was bringing them food when I last snuck away to see him, at the campsite," Kendes informs the others. He turns to Leosin. "How rare are dragon egg clutches? If he's breeding more like the one we just drove off, this could spell more trouble in the future than even the one dragon did for Greenest. Forget about amassing the treasures, they're amassing more dragons."
"Dragon eggs you say brave Kendes. I agree, even though they would not seem to pose an immediate threat they must be dealt with swiftly." Evendur empties his tankard, stands in front of the others and raises his sword in an "epic" pose. "Brave companions, we will return to those caves by first light. Tomorrow, guided by mighty Torm, we will strike the first blow to end the threat of Tiamat and The Cult of the Dragon."

"When I am well enough to travel, I will be heading north to Elturel, to report my findings to an ally," Leosin says to Kosef. He then replies to Kendes. "Dragon egg clutches, as far as I can tell, are hard to come by. Dragons are rare, and gathering together a pair of true dragons can be difficult. As you have observed Kendes, raising a new batch of dragons could be problematic for the region, and is not something we can just ignore. I would encourage you four to set out once more, and keep an eye on the camp. If they plan a raid, or start moving away from there, or move something significant in or out of that cave, we need to know. And if you could get inside that camp and find out what is happening when they make any changes, that would help greatly as well. My allies in the north are even willing to fund this investigation. If you come find me with your report up in Elturel, my friend Ontharr Frume will gladly pay each of you 150 gold."
OOC: Looks like I forgot to check to see if anyone posted first. Leosin inserts this in somewhere. Also, just for clarity, I imagine you all got a long rest in during your return.
When you are ready, you set out across the Greenfields again. The journey is fairly pleasant, with a light breeze and plenty of sun. No kobolds have fallen behind and no cultists lurk in the plateaus this time. But when you get to the camp, you immediately notice something is wrong. The tents and huts in the lower area, belonging to the kobolds, have been burned. The guard towers and cultist tents remain, but they seem to be unoccupied.
3 people in ordinary clothes with bows are currently in the camp. They have an equal number of horses tethered to a stake. An additional horse stands nearby and has an antelope flung over its back.
"Master Leosin, you are a friend of my mentor Ontharr Frume. This can be no coincidence, the strong hand of mighty Torm is clearly guiding us towards victory in this war againts the Cult of the Dragon. When the knights in Elturel will have word of this they will come charging down any last resistance from the servants of Tiamat." Evendur says clearly having high thoughts of his mentor and the knights of Elturel.
(OOC:I realized I don´t know to much about Ontharr Frume, but as he seems to get involved later on is there anything I should know about him? Is he from Elturel? Would make sense I guess.)
OOC: For appearance, Ontharr is a bald, light-skinned human with a large brown beard. He has a scar on his head which cuts through his left eyebrow. Ontharr Frume is from Elturel, but Torm and the Order sends his on missions across the realms. He is a paladin affiliated with the Order of the Gauntlet, which he would likely have mentioned to Evendur in the past. He may even have tried to get Evendur to join. His affiliation is due to his strong belief in the ideals of faith, vigilance, and fighting evil.
After their rest overnight Valas wishes this new ally in Leosin well and sets off with the others. He asks Xymor to fly ahead, watch for danger on their path back to the camp, and then watch the camp's activities.
Upon seeing not much left of the camp, Valas asks Xymor to circle around the camp and look for more enemies in case this is an ambush, then look for signs of a fairly large group moving out of here by wagon, horse or foot.
"Should we capture them and find out what happened here and where everyone went?"
After the revels Sir Evendur sits down and writes another letter.
"Greetings Master Frume
Since last I wrote my brave and resourceful companions together with myself have sought out and infiltrated the hidden camp of the Cult of the Dragon. We managed to free many prisoners, including your friend Master Leosin. We have also learned more about the leadership of the cult and their intentions. Tomorrow we will return to the camp and, Torm willing, stop the cults plan to hatch several dragon eggs. Once we have accomplished that task we will seek you out in Elturel. Know that I will not rest until the designs of the Cult of the Dragon has been thwarted.
Your faithful student Sir Evendur Archebolde"
"Randal, see to it that this reaches Master Ontharr Frume with haste." "Yes milord"
Sir Evendur then sleeps the sleep of the righteous, waking up early, blessed with new divine powers surely gifted to him in order to help him defeat the Cult of the Dragon.
As the companions reach the abandoned camp the next day Sir Evendur is at first confused over what he sees. "These three adventurers must be mighty indeed to have defeated the cult all by themselves, their only loss being their antelope companion." Then the cogs turn for a while but then. "They could of course be hunters working with the cult. I agree Valas, we should detain and intrerrogate." Evendur then rides forth prepared for any arrows coming his way.
When he gets within earshot he calls out to the hunters. "Lay down your weapons, we do not wish to fight you, and believe me you do not wish to fight us." Intimidation:12 (rolled with advantage hoping for a supporting stern look from the greatsword wielding Kosef)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kosef provides the stern look. He is careful to adjust the reflection of sunlight off his blade so that it shines in the eyes of the three people and their horses.
He also, if possible, tries to watch the remains of the camp of clues. Where has everyone gone? What activity was there around the caves, particularly? Perception: 15
He will let the others know what he is looking for as well.
The hunters lay down their bows, though they seem displeased at being told to do so. They also move their hands to shield their eyes from the light while scowling at Kosef.
Xymor's sharp owl eyes detect animal tracks in the mud and earth. Unlike the cultists' tracks, which go off in every direction, these tracks head west, in a very orderly way. Smooth tracks are also present, like those the wheels of a wagon would make. He communicates these things to Valas.
Kosef scans the area. He spots the tracks like Valas did, and also recognizes that while cultists left tracks everywhere, animals and wagons went west. The remains of the tents contain nothing of value and no clues. Ruined clothing, cheap cookware, rusty cutlery, vinegar that was once wine and cracked pottery are all that seems to be left in the cultists' tents. When he looks at the cave entrance, it seems like nothing is there as well, but a slight movement catches his eye. He notices a person standing a few feet inside the entrance of the cave, dressed in the uniform of the cult.
Kendes sighs as he takes stock of the situation. "Those aren't cultists. Poachers or hunters, maybe, but they're not nearly aggressive or fanatical enough. And they're not trying to make themselves scarce. Besides, it's obvious they would have packed and moved after we freed the prisoners they were keeping. Dragon eggs are too precious to leave unguarded."
Pulling his wooden mask down over his face, he makes immediately for the cave where the eggs were being stored, not holding out much hope to find anything left there. Pulling up short when he spots the cultist, he narrows his eyes and tries to determine the person's intent before approaching.

Evendur approaches the hunters on his steed. "Good decision, now tell us where the cultists are going and if there is anyone left in those caves, particularly if there is still treasure or dragon eggs hidden in there. Do as your told and you will ride out of here unscathed." Evendur tells the hunters in a stern voice. Another intimidation if needed:22
As Evendur interrogates the hunters he glances over at the cave entrance for any suspicious movements. Perception if needed:11
"The cultists headed west," one of the hunters says. "There's still dragon-dogs, cultists, a dragon-man, and a purple-wearer up in the caves."
Evendur can spot what appears to be a human figure standing still inside the cave entrance.
Kendes notices a the cultist standing against the wall of the cave. The cultists is not really trying to hide, but it is not trying to be obvious about being there either. The cultist's weapon is held in its hand, and it seems to be determined to watch over the entrance.
Once he sees the hunters drop their bows and sees the figure at the entrance to the cave, Kosef will walk towards that figure.
"Where did everybody go?" he says. "We ran into trouble on the way back from that little town." He will make the five-fingered gesture he noticed in the camp earlier. Deception, if needed: 7
He also looks beyond the figure to see if there are others in the cave. Perception: 13
Evendur turns to the others. "There seems to be a cultist presence in that cave. We should take care of that sentry by the entrance lest he will sound the alarm." "Stay." He then says sternly to the hunters and join s Kosef and shouts in a commanding voice to the cultist in the cave entance. "We are supposed to report to Cyanwrath, is he inside?" Deception:22
Valas chooses to continue his stealthy approach in the camp, not thinking he could fool anyone into believing he is a cultist. He uses the cover he became familiar with on their last trip, this time to get close to the caves.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The cultists narrows his eyes at Kosef and Evendur suspiciously. "I don't think you're with the cult, and I think its a bit late to be returning from a raid." He raises his scimitar menacingly, and says, "You must prove you really belong here. What are we guarding in these caverns?"

"What do you mean grunt, you dare question me, Sir Rudneve. You are supposed to guard the dragon eggs. If we find that someone got to them Rezmir will not be pleased." Evendur says in a threatening tone as he nears the cultist. Intimidation: 25
(OOC: It´s either the eggs or the treasure I guess, just trying to buy time really.)
