Tempe looks around "I would hate for those creatures to start hunting the colonist. They almost killed us. But they are a natural part of this Island. I am sure there are worse things here. Maybe we could use the snakes to defend if I can convince them to be guards in exchange for food. When we encounter them again."
Scouting the path ahead is hard because of the trees but you can see the fire has died down a little, possibly burning itself out.

Petcan looks like he comes a bit more alive as night settles. He begins to relax.
“It makes you wonder what use the wildlife might be put to. There’s no putting up with these things forever, a child will get bitten by ventilator if we let it go entirely.”
"A balance must be struck, as you say Petcan. We can't and shouldn't tame the wilds here completely, but the more aggressive residents that may threaten our people must be dealt with somehow," responds Randall.
"In the meantime, let us find a good secure place to rest," he offers, scouting out a good campsite and invoking a Guardian of Faith spell where they plan to sleep.
Survival: 10
Edit: If someone helps, he can roll again for the advantage, as that was not particularly good...
You can all apply the benefits of a long rest as the 1st night of the trip passes without incident.
If you don't want to eat half a ration or go without, a DC 10 Survival check will net you some small game for breakfast.
Unless any of you have a feature or something that can provide for the group.

Over the first hour of travel your foraging finds several locations where wild potatoes grow. If collected and planted in a cleared area, a small potato farm could be sustained.

Z instructs Irraxan (the Imp) to find one of the town leaders or commanders, and will then use the Imp to carry Z's voice and to have a conversation with them. Z will explain he is with the party that took the villagers to safety, and they they are concerned about Laurentiis. Specifically, what intelligence have they gathered of the enemy, and how urgently do they need help.
(OOC: given the name of the campaign, I feel we can't just abandon a major city to the eponymous Goblin Horde, but should save them. They question is: go back and help the military? Or go around the back and attack supply lines? Or find their leader and cut off the head? Or something different?)
Your Imp startles a captain but when your voice begins to explain the situation he reveals that the goblins are more organized than they thought but it will only delay the inevitable. They will prove victorious but it will come at a cost. The merchant lords of Laurentiis believe this may be the work of some competitor or rival to undermine the strength of their overall wealth as the recovery cost of this little war will tax them greatly.
The captain can only talk for a brief time before duty calls him off to do other things.

Ooc: just to clarify and to be safe: "they" will prove victorious, you mean the city of Laurentiis will be victorious? (Not the goblin horde?)
If so, we can carry on with this expedition to the wilds with a reasonable conscience for a while. But probably should still get to the bottom of the plot later.

Just before noon during a brief rest the Imp reports. (out of curiosity, does your Imp have a name? not that one is needed)
The armies of Laurentiis have made several sorties and some of the siege engines lie abandoned about the battlefield and in smoking ruin.
Many goblins and Laurenti bodies also lay dead, strewn randomly across the plains before Laurentiis.
"What should I do now, Zen?"
Z instructs Irraxan (the Imp) to find one of the town leaders or commanders, and will then use the Imp to carry Z's voice and to have a conversation with them. (ooc: the captain seems to think that Laurentiis will survive this Goblin Horde.)
Yes, this island quest is a diversion as most of the campaign to date as been about the Goblin Horde. We will get back to it.
(edit: any further instructions for Irraxan?)
Tempe says to Z "Your familiar, will it be making the long journey back?"
