The marauding group sees you all approach and they respond with a mix of grunts, roars, verbal threats and attempts at intimidation's they make terrible noises and swing their weapons, slashing and bashing at the air. Going by sheer body count, you and the seven armed villagers who stand beside you are outnumbered by the invading monsters, but you have no less resolve, especially against those who are defending their own home of Goldenfields.
Two of the monsters make quick moves, and the battle begins under the glistening light of the moon and the warm shadowy flickers of torchlight. One of the bugbears races forward 30 feet and hurls a javelin towards your group. It's a very long throw, (70 feet) even for a strong bugbear, but he puts every bit of muscle into the attack. Attack: 16 Damage: 11
One of the goblins rushes forwards about ten feet and fires an arrow from his short bow. The projectile sails forward, right at Miros. Attack: 17 Damage: 4 The arrow hits the large bearded man right in the shoulder, and he lets out a muffled grunt as he tries to ignore the pain. The goblin then tries to duck away and hide behind a small stone wall in the square. (Perception roll of 8 required to spot this goblin.)
Arisa castsspiritual weapon at the biggest bugbear. (Bonus action). A glowing staff attacks for 15 to hit and 6 damage if hit. She then launches a bolt of fire for 8 to hit and 15 damage. On the same bugbear if it’s still standing or a different one if not..
She stands her ground and yells “leave this place!”
Targeting the bugbear who just threw the javelin, Arisa's Spiritual weapon strikes the creature dead on in the chest. It reels back, taking the forceful blow with a roar of pain, but remains on its feet and alert enough to barely dodge her following fire bolt.
In retaliation, another one of the goblins loads his Shortbow and fires an arrow at the spell slinging cleric. Attack: 16 Damage: 4. Doing the same motion, he tries to hide after taking the shot. (Perception 13 to spot this one).
Meanwhile, the injured Miros manages to keep an eye on the goblin who just shot him. Pointing his heavy crossbow, the angry innkeeper takes aim and shoots a bolt straight towards the pesky creature. Attack: 4 Damage: 3 Unfortunately, bolt skitters off the stone, missing the goblin
Yet another goblin steps forward and sends an arrow towards Shalvus.Attack: 24 Damage: 5. The arrow pieces his right in the left thigh, and he lets out a painful yell as he looks for a good vantage point from which to act when it's his turn.
Naxene keeps her eye on the injured bugbear, and speaking a few arcane words, she points at the creature and sends a fire bolt of her own at him. Attack: 6 Damage: 7 She sighs forcibly when she sees that the bugbear evades her centric as well.
Another bugbear rushes forward and launches his javelin at Arisa, in obvious retaliation for injuring his companion. Attack: 9 Damage: 7 It falls short, failing to reach the cleric.
Vernon will dash forward 50 ft towards those bugbears, casting Divine Favor as he goes. (He may not have his armor, but that almost never helped in pitched battle anyway.)
(Yes, that's only a 20' radius, so yes, I'll say there's plenty of room in the middle of the square that's away from other people and flammable objects.)
Belkas moves to within 150 feet of the square, weaves his hands while speaking in a strange tongue. A bright streak flashes from his pointing finger to the largest conglomerate of enemies and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame. If possible he will try to reach cover.
Following Belkas' request, Crowley flies towards the nearest goblin archer and suddenly becoming visible, tries to sting it and then fly out of reach.
---
Fireball: 28 damage, or 14 with a successful Dex 15 save to everything within a 20 foot radius.
Imp (Investment of the chain master): 13 (8+5) to hit, for 7 (4+3) piercing damage if successful, and the target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw, taking 10 (3d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Quickly scooping out the distribution of enemies within the range of his spell, Belkas sends the bright streak towards a point in between where the two biggest concentrations of bodies are situated. The point suddenly erupts into a massive ball of searing flame that lights up the entire square and engulfs over half of the creatures. The resounding noise of echoes off of the building in the square, and Vernon can feel the heat emanating from the huge explosion as he approaches, even though he's well out of the danger zone.
When the fireball subsides, you can see that two bugbears and six goblins lie dead, burned and blackened as their bodies lie twisted in permanent surprise and agony on the ground. The two ogres are badly burned, but still standing, as they desperately try to pat out the flames on their tattered rag clothing. Four of the goblins (the two who shot arrows,) and the two bugbears who attacked as well were standing between you and the explosion, and they still stand.
Just then, Crowley flies down and does his best to sting the goblin who shot Miros, but the pesky little creature is able to twist out of the way and avoid being hit. Crowley quickly flies backwards a few feet and above the goblin.
The Shou woman who's standing over by the abbey watches the devastation of the fireball with an expression of surprised shock as she loads a stone into her sling. Winding up, she releases the projectile towards one of the surviving goblins. Attack: 6 Damage: 6. Unfortunately, it's a little wide and it misses the target by an arm's length.
As the others move forward to engage the main force of goblinoids, Zyllith catches sight of the smaller trying to hide, moving silently around the conflict to avoid detection until she can reach one of the half hidden goblins.
( Perception - 10+4 = 14, trying to reach the closest of the goblins that was trying to hide using her movement )
As soon as she gets close enough she strikes out with her rapier before the goblin can notice her.
Rapier Attack: 21, or 23 with advantage if she was successfully hidden Damage: 6 + 10 sneak attack = 16
If the goblin dies and there are no other nearby threats, she uses her bonus action to go into hiding once more at the end of her turn.
Having advanced silently in the shadows of the dim light, Zyllith is able to reach the goblin that's hiding behind the stone wall without being seen. Drawing her rapier, she quickly stabs at the creature, killing it instantly with a skewer through the neck, before retreating a few feet to slip back into the shadows.
At this point, only two goblins remain, along with two bugbears and the pair of ogres. One of the bugbears glances around and then raises his hand and shouts out to his companions in what you assume to be the gibbering gawks of the goblin tongue. The six monstrous humanoids, which a few moments ago was sixteen, quickly turn tail and begin running southwest along the dusty road towards the edge of the square and past the grove of awakened trees.
As they flee, Osmord casts his Sleep spell, directing it at the center of the group. Both remaining goblins stumble and fall to the ground in a magical slumber, leaving the four larger creatures fleeing down the road.
The shou woman who's standing in front of the abbey, turns and shouts to you, "The bugbear ordered them to go the moon biters, whatever that means. We cannot let them escape, for there may be others lurking about."
Shalvus answers, "...The animals!!! They are fleeing in the direction of the pens!! I must save the flocks!!" before he takes off running as well.

Arisa moves towards the hobgoblins and again atacks the one she hit before with afirebolt, her spiritual weapon advances as well and will attack if it can reach..
Belkas experiences a savage thrill mixed with repulsion when the goblins and hobgoblins burn and fall to the ground as blackened husks. When the survivors start to run, Belkas chases after them and throws out an Eldritch Blast, trying to use repelling blast to knock one creature against another and hopefully trip them up so the others can catch up.
To the imp, he calls out, "Crowley, if you can, try to sting the most wounded hobgoblin and then keep out of reach."
---
Eldritch Blast: 21 (14+7) to hit for 13 (9+4) damage
Imp (Investment of the chain master): 23 (18+5) to hit, for 6 (3+3) piercing damage if successful, and the target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw, taking 12 (3+4+5) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
