Story: Karaz is a soldier in the Ten-Towns and has been for quite some time. She's lived there pretty much her entire life, stuck in these frozen towns. But defending them is something she is good at, and so she perseveres. The half-orc isn't quite sure what she'll be able to do against something as big as a possible spell cast by a goddess, but she owes it to the people she's protected for so long to try.

backstory- Sage: Vrexa, the child of a wizard/cleric of some fame who disappeared under mysterious circumstances, came to Icewind Dale in search of ruins and artifacts left behind by the giants who ruled the ancient empire of Ostoria. To find even one Ostorian relic would fulfill a lifelong dream and hopefully make her father proud, wherever he is...
Caelena didn’t grow up in the circus, but its where she has felt at home for the past few years. Her mother is a fortune teller and her father mostly performs as a Strongman, when he isn’t promoting and fighting in gladiatorial matches for extra coin and to generate buzz for the circus. When she was a little cub, her parents sent her off to a monastery to hone the skills that her mother predicted she had in her spirit. They weren’t wrong, the monastery, while not the best for nurture or affection, certainly trained her and brought to the surface her mastery for the elements. The lessons were intense and the training was hard, but they taught Caelena to be cunning and resourceful. Caelena quickly rose to the top of her classes after her 12 years in the monastery, and, while certain that many in her classes had disdain for her, she used her charm and bright personality to rebuff them. Always one to keep the peace and try to make friends wherever she would go.
Once she reached 16 years of age, she was complete with her studies at the Monastery of the Shining Hand. They wanted her to find her way to the North, out beyond the Ten Towns, in order to best connect with the elements and spirits that rested inside her. She packed her few belongings and did as the masters desired. Caelena took up working with the traveling circus as a performer, dazzling with her agility and some minor illusions. She often wandered through the Ten Towns and surrounding areas to spread the word of the circus, gathering interest and also telling a fortune or two. Her wide smile and intriguing appearance seemed to work well as a draw for those who wanted to see more oddities and entertainment. Another talent she has honed, most likely in connection to her monastic training, is the artistic ability to craft intricate tattoos. When she is low on coin, she will usually offer a bit of ink and artistry to locals and other travelers.
The troupe has been set up for a few weeks near Bryn Shander, and would likely be making its way along deeper into the wintry tundra soon. Caelena, however, is not sure if she will stay or go with the circus, having found this area to be interesting, and growing somewhat restless with such a predictable living. She has been speaking with her mother at length about this, mostly during her tarot reading lessons, and her mother, ever the ***** spirit, has blessed her to do whatever she would choose.
Backstory: Denner has sailed ships up and down the Sword Coast, but a shipwreck made him reevaluate his life choices. Two years ago, he headed north, bought a house and a fishing boat in Ten-Towns, and became a fisher. He was told that the summers here are beautiful, but he has yet to see one.
As a fisher, Denner has developed a reputation for being a bit of a workaholic until you get to know him. The kind of person who always seems busy right up until you ask them for something, and then its like you're the only concern they've ever had.
Eve is in her mid-twenties and comes from Ten Towns. For as long as she can remember, there’s been a voice that speaks to her. When Eve needs something or is in trouble, the voice in her mind will help... but for a cost, or for a favour!
I imagine the presence she felt when she was young was something impish and playful So, growing up, she would entertain herself sometimes by playing with her 'imaginary friend' (some impish minion of her patron), and they would maybe help her to scare a bully with thaumatergy or something, but then she would have to do something for the imp, like play a prank, or trip someone up.
But as she's gotten older the favours get bigger the payments get bigger (pulling the legs of spiders, etc). Just childish things to begin with. One turning point was when she was attacked, not long ago, by thugs down a dark ally. With her patron's help she acted in self defence... but ended up killing them.
And so she needs to get away and lay low for a while... ((tying into the story hook background for criminal)).

But after a deal with a fence went south and Kothrixas was accused of stealing from a museum, he skipped town and fled to the north until the heat dies down. After staying idle for a while in Ten Towns, Kothrixas has set his sights on the ruins and artifacts left behind by the giants who ruled the ancient empire of Ostoria

Placeholder for the moment until I see what I can come up with these stats. Would really like to try this one out. And there are a few players who have applied that I'm really hoping to get a chance to play with again.
Maudath Copperblossom, a massive Goliath was raised by Garric and Geldove Copperblossom, a Halfling couple from far to the south. Despite all their love for each other and their desire to have children and a loud raucous family, Garric or Geldove or both were incapable of having children of their own.
The god’s brought them a gift. While strolling along the beach in Luskan, they came across a very large baby, swaddled in blankets just resting on the sand. They scooped him up, staggered under his weight and tried to find his family. They were quite happy when they couldn’t find anyone to claim the baby. They named him Maudath and raised him as their own.
Soon, two more foundlings were added to the family: Zallos (a human) and Rielle (a wood elf).
Garric and Geldove were loving parents though unconventional and did their best to raise each child with as much knowledge of their kind as possible.
The family made it’s living as traveling entertainers, singing songs, juggling, wrestling and the like. But in reality that was all just a front. The family, while good natured, is really gang of pickpockets, burglars, forgers and con artists.
Maudath would often entertain with feats of strength, or wrestling matches with local strongmen, occasionally letting them win, all the while the rest of the family worked the crowd, picking their pockets.
His parents aren’t sure where Maudath came from originally but suspect it was around the Ten-Towns, possibly further north.
Their last show in Luskan didn’t go well when Rielle was caught with her hand in the pouch of the local magistrate. A chaotic escape later from the tavern, the family thought it best to split up and lay low until interest in them dwindled out. His parents always suspected Maudath may have come from Ten-Towns or north, so he thought it would be a good opportunity to go north and see if he could find anything out about his birth clan.
So far he’s found little but boredom in Ten-Towns.
Background: Rose came to Icewind Dale three years ago seeking inspiration for a new song or story, drawn by tales of the land’s harsh beauty and the legendary exploits of Drizzt Do’Urden. Though no matter how much she tried she couldn't find something worthy to bring her muse back so she tried to leave but she couldn't. Since then, Auril the Frostmaiden has cast an evil spell over the dale, preventing Rose from returning home.

Backstory:
Iris showed up in the Ten Towns about three years ago without a single gold to her name. She immediately rented a tiny room and holed herself up in it, barely speaking to any of her new neighbors. She only ventured out to purchase necessities and avoided giving out any personal information besides her name. This went on for a matter of months before there was a sudden shift in her demeanor. Though still relatively private about her background, she started befriending some of the locals and spending more time outside of her room, claiming she had "found a light."
A couple of years later, the reclusive young woman who first arrived in the Ten Towns was all but forgotten. Iris now worked as a traveling healer, making regular rotations between each of the towns treating whatever injuries and illnesses non-magical medicine failed to combat. She started gaining a small reputation, especially among those working in more dangerous professions, who were much more likely to require her services. Eventually a few of the adventurers and sellswords passing through started requesting her assistance with their missions in case anything went south. Though she wasn't much of a fighter, she knew that having someone with her skills on hand could mean the difference between life and death for these people.
@DM I have some more ideas for her backstory - especially regarding what she did before living in the Ten Towns - but I think those would be better discussed via PM if I'm chosen. Good luck to all, and I look forward to hearing from you either way!

Background
Annique is a Guild Artisan working as a Jeweler. It is a trade that she learned from her father Javad. When he passed away just over 3 years ago she took over his business. Things seemed to go well at first, but with Auril's spell plaguing the area, business has really dried up. Her mother Asheira is a healer - using medicine, herbs, and potions rather than magic. While she picked up a few things from her mother, Annique was far more focused on working in her father's shop.
She has always lived in the town of Termalaine and has never been outside the Ten-Towns area. Her family's ancestors were Calishites and her parents moved to this area just before she was born so Javad could start a business. They in fact made it just before, as Annique was born in an inn in Termalaine the very night they first arrived.
From a young age, her parents had taught their daughter to use a longbow. A few years ago she volunteered her skills to aide the town militia in fending off an orc attack. She performed well, and continued to practice with the militia when she could make time. In fact, recently she has found more and more time as business gets slower and slower. She certainly has picked up a few skills beyond just the bow. As Auril's spell continues, she wishes that she could do something about it.
Shorter version - Annique works as a jeweler in Termalaine but has been training with the town militia when she can. (Would be very interested in coordinating a back story if anyone is interested.)

They taught her about magic and she learned many spells actively possible, including a few others.(for instance, she is level 1, so she only currently knows cantrips and level 1 and a few level 2 spells, she also learns spells as she reads about them, hears them, sees them, or gets taught them)After much training, physical and magical, she decided to set out again in search of more to help others who need it.(when she set out once more, she had a small leaving party, in which she was given a few things to help her in the wild. to see my current items, check my character sheet)

It took me a long time to make the whole backstory accurate with the dnd universe, there's a lot of info in there. Please have a read. Anything can be altered to fit the campaign!
