"Oh, it wasn't as bad as all that, it was really only when the flask of concentrated distillate got knocked off the shelf then caught fire that things got a bit frantic."

When the professor mentions helping in the lab, Eve bursts out laughing “Ha! Oh my gods!!... I’d forgotten about ‘Wibblepingle’s Fantastic Fire Flinger’!...”.
Then, with feigned modesty, she says, “It’s true, I am a little bit fire resistant!!... and it’s a good job too!.. Honestly, who puts a flask of concentrated distillate out on a shelf anyway?!”. Eve and the professor reminisce about that, for a moment or two (‘you were supposed to hold it steady’.... ‘I don’t know why I had to wear a blind fold’... etc). And are eventually left, out-of-breath, chuckling.
When Iris asks her question, Eve is back in high spirits. “What can I do? I can do this....”, she points at Maudath’s empty bowl and drink and they magically appear full again ((minor illusion)). As he goes to try it she admits “But it’s all mostly just tricks and illusions..... Although if I think real hard they seem really real, like I’m properly effecting the real world... ... watch this one!!”.
Before anyone can stop her she jumps up onto her chair and screws her face up with some effort and... nothing happens!
Although... faintly... as she continues to concentrate, all the knives and forks on the table start to tinkle and bobble around. And on other tables too. And the very ground seems to rumble from deep below....
The light appears to dim, and now even the tables around Eve start to shake and rattle too. There’s a crack of thunder, and all the doors and shutters crash open, and the chill wind sweeps in... ((thaumaturgy)).
As that happens, people nearby start to look around worried. Then the owner shouts “EVE!...”, and she stops what she’s doing and slams all the shutters closed again, looking sheepish. “Sorry! I won’t do it again!...”, she calls back. And sits down staring at everyone.
She looks around the group, “I’m quite new to it all really, but recently...”. She holds her hands up “...if I’m in danger, or if I think real hard....”. She closes her eyes and screws up her face, and slowly but surely a black smoke starts to build around her hands, and as she concentrates harder the tendrils of smoke start to crackle and are illuminated from within by tiny twisting arcs or green energy. Her hands shake and she concentrates harder. Then suddenly, a tiny whip, of the green-and-black energy, snaps out towards one of the forks on the table with a ‘CRACK!’.
She STOPS IMMEDIATELY, and opens her eyes!! The table is singed and the fork is just a twisted mess of bent metal and tines, charred black. She does a shy chuckle and looks a little exhausted “ha... uh-ha!... ... so there’s that!”. ((eldritch blast))
((Maudath would have seen that, and probably hex a couple of times, but at full force!))
"Eldritch magic Miauhaven´t seen any in a long time Miau, brings me back some memories Miau" she said while looking with all the attention she had at Eve "just your average girl uhn? I knew it...." she thought " so we have a.. simple healer, let´s call her that for now, a circus traveler, someone who clearly needs a wife his room is a mess, and our.... anything but average girl, interesting, very very interesting"
Eve looks puzzled at Ryhunis for a second and says, “‘Old Witch magic’?... Well, I never met an old witch, or anyone like that, but it definitely comes in handy some times! That’s for sure!”. She smiles a genuine smile around the group and very deliberately sits on both her hands.
Its about this time that you all hear the unmistakable sounds of dwarves coming down into the tavern, quite loudly. "Aye, Scramsax. We be needing a round of mead."
The speaker is a female dwarf. Braided Black hair and a nicely clipped chin strap beard across her face. Her voice is raspy, like one who spent too much time smoking a pipe.
She is joined by two other male dwarves. One of them has a ghoulish visage as his nose seems to be missing while the other seems a bit nervous and keeps looking up toward the ceiling.
As the three of them make their way to the bar and begin talking to Scramsax. He gestures toward you all while talking and then female dwarf turns to look at you before taking her tankard and heading your direction the other two following.
"Well met. I'm Hruna, and these are my friends Korux and Storn. Scramsax says you lot be looking for us." Getting up close you can see that these dwarves seem to have had a tough go of things in life. Hruna looks to be missing part of her right ear and a two fingers on her right hand while the ghoulish dwarf, who she introduced as Korux, is missing several fingers as well as his nose. The third, and much younger dwarf Storn, seems to be intact but is very jittery and appears to be looking around for something.
Maudath stands when Hruna introduces herself and the others.
"I'm Maudath," he says while extending his large hand down to the dwarf leader. "We heard you might be looking for someone to help retrieve some iron. Well, look no farther. We're the ones for the job."
He waves his hand to encompass the group.
"How much iron are we talking about? And where was it last seen?"
She clasps your hand and eyes the lot of you up and down. "Aye we are lookin for someone to retrieve a sled full of iron ingots we were hauling back from the Cairn. We were a few hours out from Bryn Shander when a Yeti came out of the snow and attacked." She pulls a chair up to the table and sits.
"We tried to fight it at first but the blasted thing was huge!. It grabbed up poor Oobok and tore him limb from limb. The rest of us just fled as fast as our dwarves feet could go." She takes a hefty gulp from her tankard. "That iron was bound for BlackIron Blades here in Bryn Shander. The payment for that contract was going to get us out of this warmth forsaken wasteland. Its a hard life up here," she says while holding up her right hand "We've all given part of ourselves to the blasted cold."
Taking another long drink, wiping her beard on her sleeve. "If you can bring the sled back with all 300 ingots we can offer you a bag of 5 gems worth about 50gp each. I bet we can get you a discount at BlackIron Blades as well." She finishes off her mead and sets the tankard on the table with a thud. "Do we have an agreement?"
"Hmm. The Cairn isn't exactly on the way to Bremen," Maudath says to the group. "Almost the opposite direction, but it would take us out into the wilds a bit, which might help with the professor's adventure."
He claps his hands together.
"Strap me into that sled and we'll have that iron back before you know it," Maudath says to the group and without waiting for anyone else's agreement he turns back to Hruna. "You've got a deal."
"Sorry, must over ride permissions, applying expetions" She spoke in an incredibly robotic voice with pauses between each 2 or 3 words "Chance of sucess 60%, chance of failure 40%, on case of failure, 20% chance that it was caused by our failure to regain the iron, and 80% chance that someone got the iron first. If any of those cases what will happen?" she turns to the dwarfs while saying this" Considerable possibility theft had already been occured before we reach and secure the sled. If failure comes from our death, partial or total previous theft what will you do? chances of survival through the next months without sucess of this mission is.... low, those chances are increased by 93.2951% with sucess of this mission. I wasn´t exactly designed to feel emotions but empaty is in my code, and with empaty and math comes preocupation"
((the numbers she just created them out of nothing, they aren´t actually real, and this is just a way of asking: soo if we fail what will you do, and what will we get if we can´t deliver all the iron? but in the most..... not wierd way considering it´s a golem speaking, and yes she spoke like a robot.... and yes.... Ryhunis, the leader of a great empire... sometimes... is a huuge idiot))
"It might be a bit late to start now,"Iris replies to Eve's question. "We should try and get there and back in one day if possible so we don't have to camp. Plus, I have some preparations I'd like to do with my spells before we set off."
(Yeti's are large white fur covered monstrosities and very capable hunters and can smell fresh meat over a mile away. They have been known to hunt in groups or by themselves. Those who look into a yeti's eyes risk being frozen in place, unable to move as they kill and devour their meal. Their terrifying howl can be heard when an avalanche or blizzard is imminent. Yeti's are known to stalk the frozen wastelands moving ever closer to settlements as the wild game becomes scarcer as winter goes on.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Eve thinks out loud in response to the party considering options, “Okay, so it’s probably too late to head out now. We should spend the rest of the day making any preparations that we need to”.
”We might find the iron abandoned and just be able to bring it back. But we might find that the yeti still has it, so we should prepare for that eventuallity”.
She turns to the Dwarfs, “You saw this thing? How big was it? Was there just one??”.
She turns back to the party, “How do you fight or subdue a yeti?! Do we take bait or food? Do we need nets? Who in town would have encountered them before?”.
With that, she climbs on her chair again and steps on the table, addressing the busy Inn, “Excuse me!!” She uses thaumaturgy (if needed) to subtly amplify her voice, “Excuse me!!!…. Does anyone know how to handle a yeti? Anyone subdued one before? You?… you look like you’ve seen a yeti?!…. Anyone?”.
"I think as far as a yeti would be concerned, WE are the bait and food. If they only saw the one, hopefully it's a solo yeti and not part of a pack. They can sniff food from a ways off, so if we brought some other bait, it'd be a good chance of drawing them in, but not sure we want to do that if we don't have to. They can freeze you with a look so they can nibble you at their leisure. The jobs to get the iron, not take out the yeti, right? Unless they've got a bounty on the that which killed their friend? I'm sure there's someone around who's dealt with--- oh, sure, suppose that works..."
