Maudath nods, and pauses to see if Iris or Ryhunis want to come with him back to find Eve. Then he heads back to the shop he saw her heading into last.
As he goes, all the talk from Eve of someone trying to kill someone else has him on edge. He unclasps the buckle on his great sword and carries it, still in its scabbard in his hand for easy access as he approaches the store.
He pauses once he's there to wait for Iris or Ryhunis if they came. Then he barges into the store, shouting "Eve" as he does.
Iris tugs on her boots and throws her outermost cloak over her shoulders, then scurries after Maudath down the street. Seeing him ready his sword, she shoots him a questioning look, but he's already storming inside. She's quick to follow, and her face softens as she takes in the scene - Eve haggard and desperate in the center of the room, customers and the shopkeeper backing away...
"Get what she needs. I'll deal with her,"she whispers to Maudath, then slowly approaches Eve, hands out in a placating gesture.
"Eve, we're going to help you. Now I need you to breathe. Everything - everyone - is going to be okay. We're going to go back to the Professor's and work this out. But you need to try and take a few deep breaths and calm down first." Glancing down to Eve's bloodied knuckles, Iris reaches out and, very slowly and deliberately so Eve can move away if she wants, takes the other tiefling's hands in hers. If Eve allows her, she uses the edge of her sleeve to blot the blood away, then a familiar warm glow spreads out of her fingers and the cuts scab over and start to fade.
Maudath looks around the store, ready for a fight, but when all he sees is an annoyed shopkeeper and some scared customers backing away from Eve, he quickly puts his sword back over his shoulder. He lets Iris go over to Eve.
Maudath approaches the counter and the shopkeeper.
"So, ah, I think we need incense and herbs," Maudath says, his hand scratching his chin. "And how are you set for cheese? Any Orthin lying around back there? Haven't had that for ages. Oh and how about Luiren's Best? Would love a taste of that. My dad's favourite."
He fiddles with his coin pouch looking for some silver.
"If you don't have the cheese or stout, just the incense and herbs. Dealer's choice I suppose on those."
Ryhunis finally reaches the store, "we should take this outside the store maybe..Don't get me wrong I am beyond exicted to kill something, but i am not exicted to have to pay tons of gold due to what we will break here, yet if you still desire to continue so be it, just don't make me pay for what is gonna happen, remenber YOU dragged me into this"
Eve gets to the store before everyone and seems to cause a scene.
Shortly after, most of rest of the party get there.
She wouldn’t let Iris touch her. If she approaches too close she would scream, but I doubt Iris would let it get that far, given the way Eve looks and is acting…
((I’m imagining Eve is in the centre of the store, holding her arms out as if to say ‘stay back’, to everyone, arms out, ‘back’, ‘back’, as anyone approaches, like that scene with the velociraptors in Jurassic Park. I’ll try and find a gif!))
Eve barely hears what the party say, and as Maudath starts to placate the store owner, and list out what they want, Eve would interrupt…
”What’s the meaning of this??… Calm down??!….”. She looks him dead in the eye. Her tail flicks like a cat ready to pounce. The ends of her hair maybe rise a little, as if being effected by strong static electricity. Maybe the tips of her fingers start to get wreathed in shadow…
”I have gold!… Pease help me! You HAVE to help me!!!… …”.
((OOC: Eve’s new spell is suggestion. She doesn’t even know she has it. Her force of will has manifested into this new power unbeknownst to her. She’s not knowingly manipulating the owner deliberately, just begging. Only now it needs a saving throw!))
"Aha! There is is!" The Professor pauses in his rummaging, holding a brass bowl aloft. He sniffs the residue, makes a face, and begins chipping it off.

"Look miss, you need to calm down. You can't come bursting into my shop and just scare all my customers. I got the things you need but you need to relax and let me get them, then get the hell outta my shop."
He stares a minute at the shadows forming on Eve's fingertips before going back behind the counter and collecting the incense and herbs.
"Ive got about 5g worth of incense and 7g worth of herbs available. How much do you want? I don't have any charcoal but you can find that easy enough in almost any fireplace around here"
Looking at Maudath "I got cheeses. Got a sharp from Waterdeep and a bit of exotic stuff from further south. any of that work fer ya?"
"Not quite the same, but Waterdeep will do," he says looking over at Eve. "All this is making me hungry. Eve here will let you know on the incense and herbs. The Professor is digging out a brazier and he's got charcoal."
Eve, relaxing slightly, but still overeager: “I’ll take it ALL!!… Thank you!… Oh thank you!!…”.
Eve gladly pays the 12 gold and waits for the order. When she has armfuls of the stuff, she looks at Maudath, “Just the charcoal then, and the brazier!!”.
Hearing Maudath say that The Professor has the other components, Eve races straight there…
Eve literally bolts out the door, straight to the Professor’s house…
When she’s maybe 100ft away, she starts calling out, “Professor!… Professor!…”.
She crashes through the door, in a state, with armfuls of components. “Do you have charcoal?… … And a brazier? Brass!… … I’M SORRY!!!.”. She looks down at her snowy boots and dashes back to the door and kicks them off. She also even knocks, belatedly, on the door…
”Please?! And Thank you”, she says, trying to remember her manners with the Professor. “I’m sorry, but… Charcoal? And a brass brazier?… Do you have it?!… … Please!…”, she starts to cry, but still stands, resolute and determined…
Maudath shrugs and slides over a gold piece. "As much of the Waterdeep as that will get me. Seems we're in a hurry again."
When he has the Waterdhavian cheese, he trots back towards the Professor's, breaking off a piece of the cheese and chewing as he goes. He offers the block to Iris.
"Assume your highness doesn't want any of this?" he says to Ryhunis as they go.
Ryhunis light on her arms and eyes had now white bubble like shapes on her rune and eyes, small yet it was visible with some attention. With some clear anger she said "In time i shall reward you for such words, not yet now... but I shall!"
"In the lab! I've got it set up under the hood so we don't smoke out the whole place. Last time I forgot and Ryhunis found me passed out... claimed that dragging me out by my foot and hurling me in a snowbank was the only solution, though I can't quibble with the result of still being alive and in possession of my faculties.", the Professor looks up at Ryhunis and pats her hand fondly.
"I'll show you what I've got."
The lab is cluttered, probably not room for everyone to circle around for whatever Eve is up to, but there's a small crucible/forge area with a hood going to a vent. The Professor has thrown a sheet of metal over the crucible and there is a brazier resting on it with a pile of charcoal on hand. He pulls a lever and the room gets colder and draftier as the vent is opened.

Eve rubs the tears out of her eyes, and follows the Professor through to the lab. Again, she’s Almost overwhelmed at the set-up: brass brazier polished clean, loaded with a few bits of charcoal, more charcoal to the side, vent open…
She pulls a stool over and places the other components within reach. She takes out her chalk and draws the now-practiced circles and symbols in the space between her and the brazier. She finishes the circle, this time with a drip of her own blood precisely over her symbol for Ipkiss.
Then she breaks some incense into the brazier, with some of the herbs, and lights it…
((The ritual takes over an hour. I’ll pause to let anyone take any actions they want in the meantime. Then a little later today, I’ll narrate them end of the ritual))

"Really? Someone like you soo smart can't figure out this is a summoning ritual? For what I have no idea, maybe a real demon unlike...." Ryhunis stops talking and looks and both Iris and Eve "Seriusly hope this is something interesting"
Maudath looks from Eve down to the Professor and over to Ryhunis.
"Don't know much about magic," he says in answer to the Professor's question. "All I know is I found her beating her hands raw on the smith's door going on about someone killing someone if we didn't hurry."
He looks back at Ryhunis.
"Summoning spell seems as good an explanation as any," he says. "But what's she summoning."
He takes a step closer to Eve.
"Hey, Eve," Maudath says. "Do we need to be worried about what might show up here? You're not summoning something to punish someone are you?"
Eve is concentrating on the ritual (continually topping up the herbs, incense, and charcoal in the brazier as it burns down), but she catches what Maudath says…
She answers in a voice that’s both distracted and distant, but also somewhat desperate and panicky at the same time. “It’s my friend… My oldest and longest friend!… He’s in danger… … I have to rescue him. It’s the only way!… …”.
Her panic rises to the surface, “It’s taking too long, this is taking too long…”. She tries to focus again on the ritual… now chanting in infernal…
As the last of the components are fed into the brazier, and they start to burn down, the chalk-and-charcoal-circle she’d drawn on the work surface starts to glow and smoulder too. At the same time, Eve’s chanting gets louder, and she traces arcane symbols in the air with her fingers…
There’s a screeching sound, like nails on a blackboard or twisting metal. The sound gets gradually louder and louder, like a meteor hurtling towards the house, then all of a sudden it’s gone. There’s a crack like thunder and a flash of smoke… and something small appears in mid-air and falls the-foot-and-a-half onto the summoning circle, with a sickening splat of blood and a crunch of bone.
On first glance, it looks like a small pile of raw meat and sinew. Eve stares at what she’s summoned for a few seconds, and then screams! She backs away, knocking over the stool, and flailing backwards, sending stacks of the Professor’s beakers and belongings crashing to the floor around her. She screams and screams in pure horror. The sound is shrill and piercing like a pea-whistle.
”No no no no no no…!!!!”. Gradually, she moves shakily back over to the thing she summoned. “My friend!.. my friend.. my friendmyfriend! No!!!…..”, she cries.
With a shaking hand, she tenderly touches the little, bloody heap before her, then draws her hand away. She moves aside what might be the plucked and red-raw wing of a dead bird. Then she gently raises what might be a tiny, bloody head. The little creature is limp and lifeless. It looks something like a skinned rabbit or bird…
Whatever it is, the creature is dead… …
She begins to sob.
She picks up the body of the tiny creature, and cradles it in her arms like a baby. Blood stains the front of her leather jacket and blouse. She slowly turns to face the rest of the party looking utterly broken. She looks at everyone in turn, a look of utter despair on her face and tears running down her cheeks.
Her summoned Imp, “Ipkiss”, looks dead but he’s at 1hp and unconscious.
"Bring her back here, I've got a brass vessel that is kind of brazier like, I just need to clean it.... after I find it...", the Professor begins rummaging about with both hands.
