Ivellios easily slices the wolf in half. The woods fall silent as combat ends.Bodies of wolves not yet eaten by Byg'wygg lie scattered around the forest floor.
Quintoc will call for Rosie to come out of hiding. He looks around at the scattered bodies of the dead wolves with a hint of sadness. "Wolves should not be so desperately hungry to throw themselves so recklessly to death. There is something awry in these woods. My guess is that Razorfang has thrown the natural order out of balance - hunting or scaring away all the game these wolves depend on. It needs to be eliminated. For my part, right now, I need a bit of rest."
He suggests that the group moves on a bit and take a short rest.
Byg'wygg the behavior does seem strange for wolves, normally if they had lost half of the pack or were wounded enough they should have fled, but a closer look at their bodies reveal them to be thin and malnourished. Now that the combat has ended you notice a thin fog has started to roll in and the sky has grown dark. Looking around you realize that Rosie hasn't moved from behind the tree.
A small hand reaches out to grab Quintoc's as he walks around the tree. Its Rosie, pale and wide eyed. She isn't looking at him, starring out into the woods on the opposite side of the river. Quintoc can feel her hand trembling, before she releases her hold and slowly tries to point out something in the fog. Her other hand is buried in her pack, as if she was in the process of looking for something before being distracted.
Quintoc, the words die on your lips as you spot what Rosie sees and a heavy cold feeling settles in you stomach. You want to move but a wave of fear has trapped you in place. Rosie whimpers and buries herself in your side, still pointing at the object. She's trembling fiercely and her other arm wraps itself around you holding tightly.
There, about 60 feet, beyond the river and the fog is what appears to be a large, thin dead tree. It towers over you all, easily a good twelve feet tall. The trunk is made of some kind of twisted, decaying wood and roots that wrap around it in an unusual fashion. A dead tree in a forest would not be a strange site, but as you stare at it you realize hidden within the wrapping vines and remaining foliage, several white eyes stare back at you. The tree then begins to move, jerking in unnatural, almost stop-motion movements. The vines on its body slither around, like snakes, and several begin moving in the air, waving listlessly back and forth. The eyes blink one at a time, looking at you but also not. The sound of cracking wood fills your ears and the tree shape shifts into something more humanoid, large antlers sprouting out of its head. Limbs too long for its body. You can't make out the head or face from this distance. The creature, if it can be called such a thing, tilts its head up and seems to sniff at the forest air. Deep, guttural, otherworldly sounds escape its throat (Quintoc you realize dimly in the back of your mind, a small space that hasn't given into the terror that now seems to grasp your entire person, that this is the sound of this thing breathing) that fills the silence before it moves, still in that jerking fashion, ever so slowly away from you following the path of the river.
Those behind Quintoc, though you can not see what the other two see, feel a heavy almost unbearable pressure begin forcing itself on you all. The weight so great it feels as though its going to send you to your knees. Terror begins taking hold of you but you don't know why, you simply have the urge to flee, go, run, get to safety, get away. The terror and pressure slowly fade as the figure moves away.
Cold sweat begins to bead down from Ivellios forehand and a chill runs down his spine. "Let's keep moving I don't want to stay here any longer than necessary."
Seeing the other two stare off into the woods, Ivellios will walk up to them. "Let's go we don't have time to stare at trees!" He places his hand on Quintoc's shoulder trying to pull him and Rosie.
"Ok, let's go," says Quintoc, visibly shaken. "What is that thing, Rosie?" he asks as they continue on their way, Quintoc gently pulling Rosie along by the hand. "Have you seen it before? Is it from your nightmares?"
Rosie mumbles something into Quintoc's side. She remains curled into his side until you you all are a good distance from the river, only then does she peek out at the rest of you.
"Do you remember how I told you that we're not allowed to use magic, that's why. That was one of the Reignsmen."
"Don't know why it left. Maybe it sensed stronger magic somewhere else.Maybe..maybe the water spirits shielded us from it. That was only a searcher though. They don't really fight, they just find the source of the magic. Then they call for others. We can't use anymore magic, if you do you need to be prepared to hide or run. I don't know what happens if you get caught, but I know no one has ever come back." She shivers.

OOC: That’s a good point, does Byg’wigg know if this would be normal behavior for wolves? Or does it seem magicy
