Kallandra nods, touched by the concern. "Yes, but while this," she speaks softly as she gestures at the table, "may be just what it appears, those people are not. And that...person...is disgusting. I thought it better to leave the table and be away from whatever might happen there. Besides, I...we...are not foolish men with the need to prove our parts are larger than theirs." She gives a low laugh at this and shares a look with Ichika.
Jack shrugs as Ichika leaves the table, reaching over and moving the ale from her spot to Brin, who nods as he eyes the two mugs in front of him with a grin. Jack eyes Leann, "You staying or going?" "I will stay." Leann says with a frown towards Ichika and Kallandra. She shrugs though and looks to Yashin. "Let's teach these two a lesson in common curtesy." She says to Brock and Yashin, glaring at Jack and Brin in equal measure.
At the bar The half-elf chuckles softly at Kallandra's comment, but remains silent otherwise.
Back at the table Yashin and Brock, both of you give me ten Con saves. We'll see how that goes for starters. Brock, yours are at advantage, due to being a dwarf.
Jack eyes Yashin with ice-blue eyes gone hard as diamonds. "You will get to see how strong I truly am, one day..."
Yashin spreads his arms wide with an evil grin "One day? Why wait..here I am. But while you wait for that day, let's get on with the drinking." Yashin grabs one of the drinks on the table and downs it.
The serving girl returns as the group around the table each down their first ale. A crowd has gathered as news of the contest has gotten around, and several people are placing bets on those around the table. The two dwarfs are clearly favored, which, of course, makes betting on any of the others a bigger bang for the copper. The serving girl has a platter filled with ale pints. She places it on the table, everyone able to grab a second, third, and so on, pints as the drinking continues.
Jack and Yashin are the first to show signs of the drinking. After their fifth ale, both are looking a bit tipsy.
"Looks like the tall folk are already having troubles." Brin says to Brock with a grin, foam in his beard from the ales. "Best be growing a beard me dad always says, helps keep the ale from going to yer head..." He lets out a huge belch and grabs for another pint.
After the sixth round both Brin and Brock are looking just as tipsy as Yashin and Jack. Leann is seeming to be feeling it now as well, spilling some of her next ale as she picks up the mug. "Hey lass, no spilling, that be cheating." Brin calls, getting a cheer from the growing crowd. Jack just huffs, clearly uncaring, his eyes on Yashin.
The next few rounds see Yashin getting drunker and drunker, first buzzed, then drunk. He is now Inebriated – An inebriated creature has disadvantage on all attack rolls and ability checks, but believes they have advantage. (Homebrew condition) Brock manages to drink ale as if nothing more than water. he goes the next couple rounds without showing any more affects. Brin is showing a bit of a buzz after the 8th round of drinks. Jack looks a bit worse for wear as well, though seems to be holding steady with Yashin. Leann lays her head on the table, looking done-in.
The ninth and tenth rounds pass by, with Brin looking just as drunk as both Yashin and Jack, with Leann unable to join in for the last couple rounds. Brock is still looking just buzzed, clearly less drunk than the others.
Anyone with a passive insight of 18 or better...
You would notice that Jack is not as drunk as he appears. he seems to be faking it for some reason...
Anyone at the table with a passive insight of 10 or better...
You would notice that Leann seems to be faking it. She is not doing a very good job of it either, clearly watching as the drinking continues, when she is suppose to be passed out.
Those at the bar, with a passive insight better than 9...
You would notice that Leann is clearly faking being drunk. She is not doing a very good job of the faking either, watching the others as they drink, when she is suppose to be passed out.
Yashin and Brock, give me 5 more con saves if you continue the drinking challenge.
(OOC note: Yashin and Brock both have disadvantage on insight checks, so that is a -5 penalty to your passive insight, so keep that in mind with the above spoilers.)
"You put up a good fight brother, but you and your companions are starting to look tipsy. It may be best for you to call it quits<" says Brock feeling the buzz.
“What’s the matter, Jack? You are looking a little worse for wear”Yashin slaps Jack’s cheeks lightly and laughs, clearly feeling quite happily drunk.
His mood grows darker as he looks across the table at Leann and sees she is clearly pretending to be passed out. As much as he enjoys competition, the Goliath values fair play and an even match. This is not a true test. “Cheater! You have missed the last two rounds faking sleep! Catch up!” he shouts and pushes a mug toward her, spilling the drink across the table and her face.
Ichika nods, her slender eyebrows knitted together. "I know what you mean. I don't have good feelings about them either." She chuckles at Kallandra's remark, then she looks back at the table. "At least they are having fun."
As she watches, her brows furrowed even deeper. The woman, Leann, definitely seemed to be faking to be drunk, and her muscles tense as the alarm rings inside her. "It's a trick," she says, "they are trying to get them drunk."
Kallandra nods. "Yes, I think you are right. Watch my back." She moves to the table, scanning the room for other trouble makers. When she gets to the table, she lays a hand on Brock and Yashin. "Done proving who is more manly?" she says with a smile at her companions. "We have an early start so can we be done?"
ooc: At the first sign of any trouble or anything that looks like it might be the start of trouble, Kallandra will cast Lesser Restoration on Yashin.
The voice carried through the nearby chatter, but only as a hissing whisper. A quick glance revealed no one tending the bar behind her, the man sitting beside her was silent, and it was too grating to be Ichika. Maybe just a figment of her imagination? Must have been just concern about these people insinuating themselves.
Take care of your friends because these three certainly won't.
There it was again! Trying to remain calm, Kallandra scanned her surroundings for a lurking presence.
Shoulder. Look on your shoulder, but please don't hit.
Forcing casual movement, her eyes fell upon a spider perched on her shoulder, black as midnight with a white shape almost reassembling a skull on its thorax.
Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
"Now now..." Leann says as Kallandra moves in. She lifts her head, wiping ale from her face, her eyes now colder even than Jack's had been. "Clearly you caught me," She glances to Yashin at this, but then her eyes return to Kallandra. "You best remove your hands from them, as I doubt if you want to make all of these fine people angry by using magic on your friends there." Her blue eyes run over the crowd, all of whom turn narrowed eyes on Kallandra. Leann gives Kallandra a thin smile. "Best be removing those hands spellcaster, or else you might have a riot on your hands here..."
Turning back to Yashin again she shrugs. "You want me to catch up, then fine." She pulls 3 ales to herself, downs them each in quick order. She smiles wickedly at Yashin and Brock then. "Shall we continue?" She now appears stone-cold sober. "Oh why do ye have to ruin our fun." Brin says, eyeing Leann with eyes a bit too-bright from drink. "Me and ol Jack gots this handled no problem." He belches again. "Ye two ready fer more?" He asks, glancing to Yashin and Brock. Jack gives a glance to Kallandra, his eyes taking in her hands on both Yashin and Brock's shoulders. "Please do use your magic on them, I dare you..." he says with a smirk. "I'd love to see what happens after that..."
Two of the bouncers, wearing the uniform of the Inn's staff, move to Kallandra's side. One is a male half-orc, with small tusks, and a body nearly as big as Yashin's. the second is a wip-thin female teifling, with flaming red hair and horns that flare back over her head and down towards her back. "Miss, we must ask you to not cast any magic." The female informs Kallandra. "Your friends, and these others," She nods to the entire table of drinkers, "are hurting no one by what they do. They may feel it in the morning, but that is up to them. If things change, then we will deal with it. For now though, you are the only one who is risking making this into something it currently is not."
At the bar The half-elf near Ichika just shrugs. "I guess we saw that coming, huh?" She says to Ichika. "Hopefully your friend doesn't do anything stupid, it might end up with her in the prison here. Those three aren't likely to cause any big trouble, not in here after all, as they are not likely to wish to see a cell, and that is all that would be gotten by picking a fight in here." Her eyes move around the room, touching on several Inn staff, all looking well-equipped to handle anything that might come up.
Kallandra has no trouble staying calm. A voice in her head was neither new nor anything compared to fighting three frost giants from broom back. Glancing around, she spies the spider.
And who might you be? A gift from the goddess?
Kallandra matches cold for cold as she stares back at Leann. "That's rich coming from the only person in this contest caught cheating," she emphasizes the last word and says it a little louder than strictly necessary. "And I'll put my hands where I please and you can mind your own business, cheater."
Glances at Jack, she responds, "Oh, I doubt that very much, Jack. I doubt it very much indeed."
She smiles at the bouncers. "Oh, I've no intention of using my magic. This is...or should've been...a fair contest between my friends and these others." She nods at Leann, "Speaking of which, why aren't you speaking with her as she's the only actual cheater in the contest."
Kallandra is attempting to turn the crowd's mood, even a little, against Leann should the three start something. She drops her hands but does not otherwise move.
The perched spider retreated somewhat when the bouncers approached. Once safe again, it laid itself on its host and crossed its front legs.
Such brutish oafs. Sometimes we must make right ourselves,, don't you think?
Yasmin puts on a good show of defiance, but the alcohol is clearly getting to him. The spider idly watches, looking as bored as an insect can.
Why don't you take care of them? I can help. They won't allow magic here, but I don't follow such nonsense. Leave them to me, or invite them to step outside and we'll have some fun.
