Ressys starts to pull the door shut just as Brandon bursts through and slashes at one of the undead with his sword. The blade cleaves a deep gash down the creature’s back; it makes a low groan as it turns to face its attacker. As it does, Durnham’sflame smashes into its face and melts some of the flesh.
The other creatures follow suit and prepare to attack.
(Brandon and Durnham’s attacks were a surprise, so everyone can post again)
Durnham uses his telepathic bond with Archimedes to tell the owl to stay out of this fight. The close quarters here are not safe for the owl.
With Archimedes hanging back in the hallway safely, Durnham continues to target the creatures with his fire bolts, trying to pick of the most damaged ones to help bring them down faster.
The undead creature lurches when Brandon’s blade strikes home and it begins to turn toward him and the others. He follows his downward slash with a cross body swing, aiming to cut the creature's head off.
Ressys lets go of the door when Brandon bursts through. "Well I..." he trails off as he realizes the fight is on. He throws a flickering flame at the undead that Brandon attacked or the next most damaged.
Qidira, keeping sight of their surroundings, especially for Orvo's safety as she brings up the rear of the group. If she is not able to attack the undead within the room due to lack of line of sight, she will watch their back for other dangers ready to alert and attack.
Crossbow attack - if able on a target within the room. If not readied for any enemies that may appear outside of it. Trigger is either line of sight within or approaching enemy without - which every should occur first. Attack: 17 Damage: 9
(Brought forward post 1196, I dont think it's been used yet?)
Qidira moves within visual of one of the Zombies preferring one close to an ally but least injured -> because sneak attack 1

He noticed that Ressys intended to close the door and leave the undead locked, an idea Kotar thought contrary to the decision they had taken of cleaning the dungeon to avoid being cornered. The druid most likely thought there was little chance, if any, of those creatures pursuing them, but nothing could assure other things laying in the ruins would not be successful at stoking the monsters against their group. That and they could need to retreat in that room. No protest, though, was as strong as that of Brandon. The warlock entered the room, starting battle with the cries of a zealot. Too irrational for the goliath, almost like something was possessing him.
Either way, the fighter advanced in sequence. His blade cutting into the flesh of the closest creature. Shield in hand he hoped to draw the attention of the exanimate. A task that the shouts before may had posing a greater challenge. At least, he thought to himself, shouldn’t be that hard of a fight. If the last battle with the undead served as any indication, they were more likely to trucidate the zombies. Such was his hope as he once again raised his steel against the closest enemy, bringing it down with as much strength as managed.
Notes: Kotar attacks the closest zombie (moving if necessary and as necessary, preferably avoiding being flanked).
Kotar’sblade slices through the air once more, carving flash from the undead before him. The creature seems to sigh as long-stored air escapes its lungs, fetid in the small room.
Ressyshurls his bolt of flame whizzing past Brandon’s ear and into the body of the other front-rank undead. Already depleted by the warlock’s vicious attacks, the creature succumbs to the flames and drops to the ground, crackling as the robes ignite.
One of the rear-rank undead shuffles forwards to take the place of its fallen roommate, the other stands patiently waiting for an opening; it doesn’t realise that it could climb a bunk to flank Kotar or Brandon.
With two undeadin the front rank once more, they each batter away at a PC:
Attack on Brandon Attack: 22 Damage: 6 bludgeoning
Attack on Kotar Attack: 11 Damage: 6 bludgeoning
(Will process Durnham’s turn and updated map in the next post)
(I didn’t mean flank as in the combat rule, I meant in the military sense)
(Durnham’s critical means 10 extra damage for a total of 17)
Another undead falls, this time the one facing Kotar melted like a candle by Durnham’sintense arcane fire. The wizard must have hit his incantation notes and hand gestures perfectly, such is the heat of the attack.
Qidira readies her crossbow once again, glancing first that the hallway remains clear and Orvo still with the group, then into the room hoping for a clear shot. If an opportunity presents, she fires a bolt into the room at one of the undead (in her case targeting the least wounded within 5' of an ally). If an obvious enemy appears in the hallway, she targets this instead.

Brandon’s swing missed its mark, leaving him over-extended and opening up a window for a zombie to strike. The zombie's fist slid over his shield and caught him in his shoulder, but was quickly absorbed by the shadows surrounding Brandon.
Brandon pivots, face hot from the blast of Durnham’s and Ressys’ firebolts in the small room, and strikes with an upward slash at the creature to his front.
Brandon’sswing splits the undead creature down its front, exposing ribs and sternum, but it still seems intent on attacking him.
Qidirachecks that the corridor around her is still clear, and it appears to be so. She turns back to fire into the melee, but the glance around gives her less time to aim and the gnome’s bolt flies high.

As the fighter expected, half of the undead lied still finally, defeat by the efforts of the whole group. That meant, obviously, that two still remained. As such he advanced to the closest exanimate standing, shield in front of his body, blade over its bord in high guard. A technique designed to catch incoming weapon strikes, but that should serve just a well against the claws and fangs of zombies. Not as much as it could, he knew, for soon he would strike and that would create some opening.
“Nice one, Durnham!” He said advancing, half regretting not wielding the glaive. The room seemed spacious enough and to that point he didn’t need the extra defense of the shield. Maybe, he could not help but consider, things would have been different if I didn’t have the shield. In his experience, bad luck had a way of finding the unprepared and at the end of the day the extra damage was probably negligible. In truth it was likely the flames of his friends would more than make up for the polearm and for that he was grateful. As soon as the creature was in his range, the goliath moved his steel. A slashing attack against the enemy. Please die, he said mentally.
Notes: Kotar moves in the direction of the closest zombie and makes a sword attack.
Qidira curses her delay silently and sets another bolt looking for an opening.
"Orvo, watch our backs?" She calls out more in a request than an order hoping to give the warrior something to do to calm his nerves for he was most likely already on alert for dangers.
On her turn...
She again makes use of an ally's proximity to her target and fires off a shot. (If more than one present, aiming for least injured)
Crossbow Attack: 6 Damage: 6
Sneak Attack 3
(fairly early move, I know, but I've been slow to post lately)
Kotarsteps into range of the next zombie and prepares to attack, but something seems to hold him for a second. He looks confused, as if watching a dozen different targets darting around, then swings late at the target before him. In spite of its stiff movement, the creature still dodges the goliath’s attack.
Ressyscasts his arcane fire over Brandon’s shoulder and hits the warlock’s enemy in the neck. It ignites for a moment and then goes out, leaving a blistered patch behind.
The creaturesstrike back at their attackers, one each at Brandonand Kotar, all gnashing teeth and scratching claws:
Attack on Brandon Attack: 22 Damage: 4 bludgeoning damage
Attack on Kotar Attack: 11 Damage: 4 bludgeining damage
Durnhamaims for the most wounded opponent, his fire joining with Ressys in melting the flesh from the zombie fighting Brandon. It looks severely burned now and ready to collapse.
Initiative order: Brandon 13, Qidira 12, Ressys 11, Undead 6, Durnham 4
