Brandon tries to hold off the clawing undead to his front, but its claws manage to break through his guard and he winces as it tears away the last of his protective shadow. The creature is bombarded by fire from Ressys and Durnham and Brandon swings his longsword around to put it down for good.
Brandon strikes back at the zombie before him and takes the creature’s head from its shoulders. Thick congealed blood oozes at the stump as the body collapses to the floor.
Qidira shows concern for Orvo, who crouches in the corridor and seems reassured by the gnome’s words. Qidira rturns her attention to the fight and fires at the last remaining zombie but her bolt flies wide.
(Kotar’s turn, there is one zombie remaining and it is uninjured)

His blade swings wide, missing completely its mark. Maybe it was hesitation, maybe the goliath let his thoughts distract his mind. A mistake that the undead, if at all capable of it, clearly did not make. The two zombies stroke against fighter and warlock. Kotar reacted too slow and sure he wouldn’t be able to deflect the attack, braced himself to the damage by concentrating every fiber of his body into resisting. His muscles contracted, strong like those of giants, hard like an enduring wall of stone. So much so that the claws of the exanimate couldn’t so much as scratch the Ironhunter.
As if echoing his defensive victory, Brandon found success in offense. His weapon brings down one of the two remaining enemies. It is over already, Kotar was sure. The only question was if the last enemy standing would have enough time to hurt any of the frontliners. He believed it unlikely, but knew it was better to at least try making his part to guarantee the good outcome. Once again he raised his longsword and once again he brought it down, letting the frustration of his missed attempt flow through his arm. Oh, how satisfactory would it be to kill the thing. Sweet vengeance he hoped to achieve.
Notes: The 9 damage is negated by Stone's Endurance and Kotar makes a new sword attack. Hopefully this time not a nat1.
Globs of zombie mush fly around the rooms as Kotar guts the zombie in front of him. Ressy then throws more fire at the last standing zombie, the stench of burnt zombie flesh filling the room.

Durnham watches Kotar slash the undead creature and grimaces as the creature mindlessly continues to stand and attack them. He points his staff at it over Kotar’s shoulder and casts his cantrip once again. “Flambé!”
Qidirasets another bolt in her crossbow, feeling almost no need for it now, but better prepared and catches herself involuntarily dunking slightly at the flying gore in the room ahead.
Durnham'smagical fire curves around Kotar's midriff and into the undead creature, immolating its torso. It looks badly damaged and likely to fall at the next hit.
(Barndon's turn, I have Ressys and Qidira's. There is one zombie remaining and it is severely injured)
Brandon turns and eyes the last undead, barely standing and broken under the damage it has already taken. He brings his sword around in a sideways slash, hoping to release the creature to the death it has somehow avoided for so long.
Brandon's sword slices down and cleaves the last zombie's head in half, although with an annoyingly off-centre parting. The undead creature falls dead and the room is quiet except for the soft panting of the victors.
A cursory inspection of the room reveals nothing of value, the lockers are empty and the creatures themselves bereft of possessions.
(Bringing map forward, we are in room 1 and the corridor outside it):
Qidira presses and ear to door nearest her (#5) checking for any movement within then if nothing tests the latch/handle. "We should clear these rooms before heading on I think? Don't want anything coming up behind us?"
"An excellent plan. We bothered those zombies but we surely didn't need them finding their way out of the room and following us." Ressys waits nearby as Qidira checks the door.

Brandon pauses to catch his wind after the last zombie falls, his breath creating clouds of condensation in the cold chamber. Disappointed that a quick search led to nothing of interest in the room, he tears a piece of robe off of one of the corpses and cleans his blade. He pauses a moment to fortify himself with false life from the echoes of the undead in the room. Then rejoins the others in the hallway.
He nods to Qidira and Ressys “I agree, it is best to clear these one by one. We do not know which one will hold the antidote. But we should move quickly.” He takes a piece of coal from his pack and marks the door to the room they just cleared with a large circle and X. “Now we will know where we have already been” He moves next to the door Qidira is inspecting, ready to enter when the group is ready.
Durnham nods in agreement. “Yes, While these things don’t seem too be outside our capabilities, I’d hate to be surrounded by them if they came upon us from behind.”
”Curious, these seem to be barracks of some kind or housing for the people that worked here. They didn’t have the look of military uniforms though. Perhaps they were just researchers?”
Qidira tries the next door down the corridor, finding it locked but seeing no sign of a trap.
Orvo moves up and sees into the now-cleared room: "These robes are rather exotic" he says in response to Durnham: "I guess whatever power they worshiped couldn't save them in life and then abandoned them in undeath too"
As Brandon bolsters himself with dark healing energy, the scout's eyes widen: "But I guess that some patrons are more effective than others, eh?"
Durnham shakes his head “The path to undeath… there’s many roads to getting to this state. I’ve read and heard lectures on this topic. I’m no expert but it’s often got nothing to do with gods… sometimes large scale traumatic events can cause it… such as giant flying cities falling to the ground while creatures of enormous powers fight.” He sighs. “These people likely had no choice and are just victims.”

“Who can say how it came about”Brandon agrees with Durnham “but it is an affront to nature and to the Matron. These poor souls deserve to reach their final rest. No soldiers here yet, no armor or weapons, thank the gods. Probably researchers of some sort. Let’s see what the next room holds.” As Qidira finishes inspecting the door and picking the lock, Brandon shoulders through the door, sword out and shield up, looking for any immediate threats in the room.
