"I'm afraid not. Nothing here really stood out to me. And your little act didn't fool the guard he seemed to have his eyes firmly planted on me. You don't think guards are racist against teiflings do you.I would so hate for our journey to be ruined by bigotry from the locals. What do you think so lil' sis?" Mal reaches down and gives her a few pats on the head.
“Hah, ‘good guy in the black hat.’ Well that’s a mighty kind thing for you to say, Miss. I try. Truth be told, I like to think myself somewhat of a lawman. Though I suppose bounty hunter is what ends up on the resume. Regarding my magic, well that’s a question ain’t it... Can’t really say, I suppose you just pick some things up in this job. Certainly has made the job easier though, I can tell you that.” He goes quiet for a moment before continuing, “No worries, I’ve never been too good with names anyway.”

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Musharib is very please he is very close to being hired. Don't forget: If you do hire him, he will work for you guys for free as long as you liberate the mine he's going to lead you to.
Unless no one objects, tonight when I get home, the journey into the jungles of Chult begins. I will describe all of the rules, how it's gonna work, so have fun, rest up, for tomorrow morning (in game time) your journey to find the Soulmonger begins.
As you all may have noticed, the players map of Chult in the DMs Public Notes section is a HEXMAP. As far as my knowledge goes, this is the first DnD 5ed adventure to be considered, or have, hexcrawl properties in the game.
What this means is that ONE HEX EQUALS ONE DAY OF TRAVEL. This is important. Why? Because you have 80 days to find the Soulmonger before Syndra dies. This means that you can't mess around, or dilly dally. Time is of the essence. Each hex you guys enter has a chance for a random encounter, and I will keep track of the days and the encounters. As you look at the map, there are areas you may wish to avoid, and that's fine. But since this is a PbP game, you simply can't point at a hex and tell me that's the one you want to enter, so if you want to go to a particular location, I will choose the shortest distance to it avoiding hazards along the way, unless you want to brave a zombie infestation.
You will have enough food for the journey to and fro, so for sake of simplicity, don't worry about it. If you want to use a boat to go down rivers, that's fine, too, that counts as TWO HEXESof movement on a boat, and as mentioned above, ONE HEX by foot. O'tamu will provide the Dino and the small boat, you won't have to rent one.
If you hire Musharib, his quest becomes top priority, per his terms. Once you have completed it, he will join you to find the Soulmonger for free. In my last group, they also hired Musharib, used a boat to go south down the river, and travelled by foot to the mine. It took about 30 days to reach the mine.
OOC > What kind of dinosaur is our pack beast? How much can it carry? How nimble is it? Can a player character lead it, or does it need to be led by the guide? What color is it? (This last is very important information. To Bree.)

She saunters up next to the young woman, who seems as out of place as anyone, but also comfortable in her own skin. "That was really amazing poetry, Yasei! Did you write that? I've run into something like that before, a performer who actually looked a little like you, but he was a really hard drinker, so not really like you? Anyway, you were better at it than him, probably cause he was really sloshed when I saw him, but anyway. You don't get out much, do you? Isn't this place awesome!" and she twirls a little, unwinding a beautiful filigreed scarf behind her as she turns, to have it detach and disappear in a spiral of colored smoke. She runs over to a stall and throws a couple copper (or whatever the price is) at the merchant. picking up two small juicy fruits and bringing them back, pressing one into Yasei's hands and chomping into the other.
"Arigatōgozaimashita, Bree-chan. I wish I could take credit for that haiku, but it was taught to me by a tutor years ago. And this fruit is delicious! It reminds me of the juicy mikans from my homeland. And I apologize, but you are correct...I haven't really been outside my fathers castle growing up. This is all so new to me!"
“No worries, Bree. No harm done. Just thinking.” Clayton says with a chuckle. As they continue walking and Yasei speaks up, “Not to pry, Miss Yasei, but you got anyone besides family back home? Seems like a princess would attract some attention.”

Yasei: "I was arranged, since birth, to marry a young man named Yōzei Genji, grandson of Emperor Yōzei. However, when I committed my shameful act, I was banished from my fathers kingdom. I have not seen Yōzei in many months."
"Have you ever heard of the Bushidō code? It teaches us our moral values, stressing a combination of sincerity, frugality, loyalty, martial arts mastery, and honour until death. It's a way of life in my homeland. During a battle, six months ago, my lord brother Ashikaga Yoshimasa..." (she bows her head, and continues speaking to you but looking at the ground) "was captured by the enemy. He was led to the center of the battlefield, and was about to be murdered, dishonorably. You see, the Bushidō code teaches that a samurai should be allowed to take their own life...seppuku...and voluntarily die with honor rather than fall into the hands of their enemies. However, upon seeing this, I quickly grabbed a katana from one of my father's vassals, charged the battlefield, and cut the arms off my brothers executioner. I saved Yoshimasa's life. However, this dishonored him, and my father, because it prevented him from dying honorably...and for that, I was banished from my fathers kingdom, in perpetuity. I hope to prove to my father that I am worthy and honorable enough to return...some day."
