Your investigation does not yield anything of value on the cultist aside from the medallion that looks much like the one Kiari took from a cultist. You successfully palm it if you want to take it undetected from the others.
For Travis:
Nothing of importance is going on in this part of town, but you hear some drums heading for the keep from the north. You also see the flicker of the torches surrounding the keep.
Kiari does not find anything of value on the Kobold aside from his sling and dagger.
Beatrice smiles broadly at the wisecracking adventurers and then flexes a bicep. "I think I can manage with this one and get him back to Nighthill. I'll take any messages back to the keep, and you have this town's thanks. Do you want to walk back over to the sally port with me, Kiari?" She then points to the south past the bridge and says, "The second house on the right should have a cellar large enough for those two families."
Kirari gathers up the sling and dagger to add to the others collected. She won't be able to use it, but saves to pass it along to Beatrice for the townspeople.
She nods to Beatrice and smiles at her flexing then heads with her to the sally port to unlock and relock the gate after her. "Good Luck to you, there's a sandwich at mead at the other end of the tunnel if it's still there. Thank you. Oh, I've collected these so far. The townspeople in the keep might make use of them." She passes along the three slings and three daggers that she's collected so far.
Travis laughs quietly at the back and forth between Cale and the professor; overall he's pleased at how quickly they dealt with the situation. He gives a nod to Beatrice, glad they can send the cultist back with her.
"They are really putting the squeeze on the keep,"Travis says, looking into the distance. "We best get at it."
With that, he's ready to find and help out the families in duress.
Beatrice thanks Kiari, takes the weapons, and begins dragging the cultist through the tunnel at the sally port. (Double checking if Kiari locked the door)
If Inglenook is in the lead, the gnome would spot the cellar door pretty easily, but something is wrong! The door is wide open!
Travis takes a step forward, ready to rush toward the open door, but holds himself back at the last moment. "Looks like we should do some reconnaissance,"he suggests, looking toward Cale.
Following behind the front liners, Thaddeus is one of the last to see the cellar doors wide open. He quickly scans the area for anything out of the ordinary but remains silent, worried there may be more cultists or kobolds about.
Thaddeus hears a faint rustling sound in the general area but can't be sure if it is coming from the cellar or somewhere else nearby. Did it come from deeper in the cellar or was it the wind?
Hearing something in the area, the professor touches everyone’s shoulder and places his finger over his mouth making a nonverbal cure to “shhhh”. He makes a cupping hand over his ear and points around them.
Inglenook takes off his pack slowly and places it at his feet. "Hold on a moment." He thrusts both arms in, elbow deep, and draws out the ivory mug in one hand, and a small wooden cone in the other.
He closes his eyes, mutters some words as a very faint greenish glow emanates from each item. He then whispers a message into the cone, hoping that he can communicate with the child that gave him the mug if they are close by.
"Hi, this is Inglenook the gnome who gave you the light up cube. We are close to the cellar you were hiding in and have come to help. Are you still there? Are you safe?"
Message cantrip - You point your finger toward a creature within range and whisper a message. The target (and only the target) hears the message and can reply in a whisper that only you can hear. You can cast this spell through solid objects if you are familiar with the target and know it is beyond the barrier. Magical silence, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood blocks the spell. The spell doesn't have to follow a straight line and can travel freely around corners or through openings.

Cale crouches at the warning, feeling exposed outside the cellar. He scans the area around him and then tries to head quietly towards and into the cellar, looking out for ambushes or traps along the way.
While Kiari does not hear it, Travis definitely hears rustling and movement in the cellar. Cale would pretty easily see a mop of hair behind one of the crates farther into the darkness, and there are not any traps set (just a lot of crates and barrels and some broken pottery to signal a potential struggle). Upon hearing Inglenook, the hair, and the little boy attached to it, rushes into the open in the cellar and is startled to see Cale there instead of the gnome. The little boy takes a step back, and he is definitely Lillian's son; Cale recognizes him almost immediately. The boy is clutching the cube Inglenook gave him as if it were the most important thing in the world.
"You are not Mr. Gnome," the boy says. "But you helped save us! Please please please...mommy and daddy and sister and the neighbors need help!!! Please please! The dragonman took them and he had more bad men! Mommy told me to hide and not to come out for anyone, but you are my heroes! If anything happens to my family..." the boy trails off and starts to gently sob but covers his face with his sleeve to try to keep you from seeing.

Climbing down into the cellar after Inglenook, she hears the boy greet him and is happy to hear that the family was 'taken' and not killed, this gives her some hope of rescuing them. Kirari leans forward casually and touches "Mr Gnome's" shoulder lightly and murmurs Guidance for him in case he needs it to calm or encourage the child. Then looks about casually for evidence of what happened and if anything was left behind. investigation16
Upon hearing the boy talking to Cale, Travis moves into the cellar, his typically dour expression growing even grimmer, but with a touch of softness as he regards the lad. He kneels down next to the child and looks him in the eye.
"We will find your family and see that you are reunited,"he says calmly, putting a hand on the boy's shoulder to try to reassure him. "Do you know where they have been taken?"
Cale gently nudges the boy towards Inglenook, thinking it best for the lad to be speaking to his favourite 'hero' at this time. Trying to be useful, he helps Kiari search the cellar for clues.

Inglenook sighs at the poor child's situation, and the familiarity with losing family and being alone. "Hi there. Mr gnome is here, don't you worry. Sorry, I never got your name?"
He doesn't need to kneel like Travis as he's pretty much the same height as the child. "Remember what I told you before?" And he gestures towards Travis with both hands, "this big guy is on our side. As are all my friends that are here right now. We came for you. You and your family....... We didn't forget you."
And hoping that he can help save the child's family, "Where are your parents? Can you show us, or help us find them?"
The professor follows down the stairs behind the group but stays quiet as the others have clearly interacted with the child before and he doesn’t want to scare him.

@DM - Kirari locks the door behind Beatrice unless she prefers otherwise and hangs on to the key.
Seeing Inglenook's body language change abruptly ahead of her, Kirari rushes forward. "What is it?"
