Kirari surveys the area to see if any more raiders are in the vicinity then falls in line with the group towards the cellar that Jillian and her family hid in. perception11
By and large, the group does not see any any groups of bandits in the immediate area, aside from the ring formed around the keep (there is the light of torches that would be tough to miss).
For Travis (as the group is looking at the ring around the keep)
Travis does happen to see the footbridge where they had a battle, and there are two torches walking back and forth on the bridge: One looks like a kobold, and the other is wearing the purple robes of a cultist!
You would need to cross the footbridge you came over before to get to Jillian as the cellar is on the other side of the stream; is that where you want to head?
Travis pauses and clears his throat. "There,' he says quietly to the others, pointing toward the footbridge. "A kobold and a cultist. We may be able to capture that cultist for questioning."
Thaddeus nods in agreement. “It seems like a good place to attack. There’s only two of them... we could make short work of them but we need to keep them occupied so they can’t escape and warn the others.” He looks around and frowns a moment, “is there a way around the bridge? Could someone stealthy sneak around and attack from the other side so they can’t get away?”
”hmmm if we had some of the cultists robes or a way to make me look like them... one or two of us might be able to get up close posing as one of them. I might be able to incapacitate the cultist while others rush the kobold.“
"I'm pretty sneaky, so I've been told" says Cale. "If we can get one to head over here while I hide off to the side, I could knock them out with my pommel"
The professor nods at Cale... “If you could find a place to hide... perhaps I could convince the kobold that I’m a wounded kobold. If I stay out of sight and call to it, maybe it will come investigate and you can ambush it?”
He stops and looks at the others, feeling like it’s a foolish idea.
Kirari smiles at the others. "I speak Draconic and I still have one of their pendants? With either help? You guys could be could be attacking poor helpless me? Or just limp over and ask them for help in Draconic from those terrible people down the way a little?"
Beatrice nods at these suggestions and offers to go with Cale to wait on the other side of the bridge. "I am happy to join you, Cale so that we can give these fiends a good surprise." She prepares to wade back to the other side of the creek by gathering up her cloak but then pauses. "Or would it be best if I stayed here with my guard uniform pretending to attack the professor and the archeologist? I mean 'kobold' and 'bandit!'"
The professor’s eyes light up. “I forgot you’re a guard. I have a better idea! Cale, you look right proper scary, how about you and I pretend to be mercenaries who caught this guard. We put on a bit of a performance of dragging her along at sword point and all jump them when they come to investigate. No need to pretend to be kobolds or anything other than mercenaries. I can put on a bit of a show if necessary and Cale... well you look like you’ve done some mercenary work already.” He again looks around at the group. “I’m new to the group so we don’t have to do my plan, Im just throwing it out there but if you all want to just rush the bridge we can do that too.”
"I am thinking they will know I am not friendly,"Travis says, sounding a bit disappointed but impressed with the tricky plan that does not quite play to his more straightforward approach to things. "I will be ready to charge in if need be."
He peers at the bridge and waits for the ruse to unfold.
Kirari falls in wherever she seems to be the most helpful, adjusting her gear a little to make it appear as newly acquired as loot she's carrying over her shoulder but securing it so she can take her hands off of it to wield her weapons. If she is unable to secure it looking like its being carried, she will be prepared to drop just prior to battle.
Inglenook loads his crossbow, whispering to himself, ready for a range attack should things go sour. "Blasted contraption. Why I haven't used magic on this damn thing I do not know." And after catching his finger twice he puts his knuckle in his mouth to try soothe the pain.
Beatrice presents her hands with palms up and wrists close together to Travis and Kiari. "Do you have a bit of rope? Should we tie my hands, or maybe it would be better if I just do this..." Beatrice puts her hand behind her back under her cloak. She winks and says, "This way I can at least punch the kobald without untying my hands!"
(It sounds like everyone is ready, and if you are, let's do stealth checks for those sneaking as well as charisma checks for those aiming to fool the cultist and kobald)
"Good idea m'lady,"Travis says, slipping into overly formal speech when he addresses Beatrice. "I shall escort you and try not to be too rough or anything."
Travis sheathes his sword and attempts to make his already grim face grimmer as he positions himself to make it look as if he is keeping Beatrice moving. He glances at Cale. "You should probably do the talking, as deception has never been my forte," he suggests. "I shall just try to look menacing."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The professor bends down and gets some dirt to rub on his face, in his hair, and over much of his clothing. He tries to make himself look rumpled and disheveled, as if he has been in a fight. He then removes his crossbow and holds it out to Travis. “Hold on to this young man. I don’t use it often anyway and it will look more convincing if you’re holding my weapons.” He then takes a moment to clear his throat and starts and stops a few times trying to get the voice and tone just right. “Help... no... Help!... Help!!... there we go, Help!! Let me go! Right let’s do it!” He then places his hands behind his back and adopts a slow elderly shuffle and limp, trying to look beaten and cowed.
Kirari mumbles, "sorry for this." Then loudly, "Cease your chatter old gnome! Once again, I don't care about your precious gadgets and how many gems or gold you offer me. I'll be sure to see a share of it soon for bringing you and this Captain in! You there on the bridge? Could you give us a hand here? We've got this Captain and her little wizard friend trying to mess up our plans." She lightens her hold a moment on the Gnome and waves the map with the red X's at them, "But we've taken care of these. Some nice stuff too!" She says patting her overloaded pack.
Inglenook looks around the group, slightly confused at what is happening. He leans into Kirari who is shouting things out at someone, and quietly asks, "Do you know what the hell's going on? I'm not quite sure whether I'm a good guy playing a bad guy, or I'm a good guy playing a good guy? Is it me or does this seem like a lot of hard work for two guys?"
