As Travis leads the group past the guard tower, three kobolds take the right side of the line and three kobolds take the other side as they head back out to the plateau.
The cultist replies, “If we continue with our work and continue with gathering riches, the Dark Queen will be freed from her prison. Have you not been with us in prayer? What is your name, cultist?” The lead cultist moves closer to examine the professor.
“My name is Bryar. I have been to prayer every chance duties allow.” He shakes his head, “I of course know what needs to be done but I am anxious for the return of our Queen.” He allows a note of fervor and impatience to enter his voice “How long must we raid and hide from the rulers of this world? How much longer until she can return and lead us to glory and to conquer these people?!”

Oof and if needed I’ll throw my inspiration on the roll.
Travis moves fairly slowly, not wanting to make the prisoners move too fast. He keeps his facial expression grim.
To a nearby kobold, he says: "Where's the best wood?" At the same time, he scans the area, looking for any areas that look promising for gathering wood, but also any spots that might provide cover should the opportunity to arise to quickly dispatch of six kobolds.
The lead cultist nods and pats “Bryar” on the shoulder, saying, “Of course, my brother, and the time will come soon. Each task brings our plans closer to completion…as long as we remain vigilant.” He gestures to the Leosin look-alike in the pen and says, “Mondath will make sure our enemies pay, and I pray we soon have an army of dragons to serve. One thing at a time, and now you are needed to put these prisoners to use. I leave them to you. “ The cultist motions to his two other initiates and they begin to move back to the center of camp.
Travis doesn’t seem to discern much in the black night, and the kobold is not much help with its shouts of, “Umm, out there!” As it gestures widely. The other kobolds all straighten up and brandish their clubs as they signal they are ready to head out from the camp.
The professor nods to the cultist “Of course. I will endeavor to be patient.”
He then joins Travis and the kobolds to escort the work detail. He shouts at the prisoners using his best military training voice “Come along you dogs! It’s time to work!”
The work detail moves past the camp and into the night on the plateau. The terrain would look familiar to the party as it is the same trail they used to reach the camp. About a mile out, a kobold asks Travis and the professor, “Time to untie the prisoners and put them to work? Each kobold follow a prisoner for firewood?”
Travis nods and unless he hears other directions from Thaddeus, slowly and methodically begins to untie the prisoners, meeting the eyes of those he knows and giving an almost imperceptible nod to each in turn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cale rubs his wrists as Travis unties him, then carefully looks around to scout out the number and alertness of the guards. He also looks for the nearest treeline or piece of cover.
Cale would spot the four cultists hanging back. They had been talking about their recent conversion to the cult after being taken prisoner during the walk out to the plateau. The six kobolds seem to be waiting for orders. Cale would also see a earthen ramp up to higher ground to the north and a break in the plateau on the opposite side of their current position . This could potentially lead folks out of sight.
Through passive perception, Kiari and Thaddeus both see the earthen ramp up to higher ground as well as the break in the plateau to the south.
Inglenook keeps quiet to avoid any prying eyes. He carefully extends his ring finger, whilst keeping his hand close to his body and points towards The Professor. <message cantrip> and whispers under his breath "Prof, what's the plan? Are we fighting or fleeing? Either way I can create a good distraction. How about the sound of a dragon?"
The professor whispers behind his mask in response to the whispered voice of inglenook “Gave me a heart attack with that whisper! You can do that!? Ugh plan… a plan. I’m working on it. There’s 4 other cultists and 6 kobolds. Maybe a few too many for us to fight head on without any escaping. And a dragon noise… they worship dragons. Probably not the thing to scare them away.”
He looks to the kobolds then “Where do they usually find the wood?”

Travis reaches out and takes the larger rope in hand. "I will keep a careful eye on these scum," he growls. "Let's move!"

The professor nods to the cultist. “How long before the dark queen can return? I am anxious to see this world laid under her feet.”

Inglenook keeps his mouth shut for the time being, trying not to draw much attention. He has a trick or two up his sleeve..... Literally...

@DM are we out of view of the camp where we are?

@Jynne, Yes, the group is about a mile away from camp. A super-loud noise may catch attention, but the guard tower can no longer see you.
