Cale makes his way back to the prison pen and puffs his cheeks out dramatically before saying to the others "Yeeahhhh... they have a dragon egg. Do we steal it, smash it or leg it?"
Looking concerned, Kirari speaks up again, "Another dragon would be devastating to the area. I hate to say it, but as we have no way of getting it far away from here, we might need to destroy it, but how? Do we report it to Greenest or keep investigating?"
"I feel like we could do with the Prof on this one, the old sod always seems to know what to do" says Cale, looking around for Thaddeus. "Even shorty would do, he has a brain on him" but no sign of Inglenook either.
Getting desperate, he looks for Travis "Maybe the Champ knows how to smash eggs? Please gods, don't let this one fall on us. Should I go get them?"
"Cale, I'm right here." Inglenook says, poking his head from behind Leosin and smiling. "I know I'm small but was only just standing behind him"
"Hmmmm, he says to Leosin. We've tried disguises before, and I think I will be speaking on behalf of the whole group in saying that we're not that good at it. Do you have any idea what the work detail is? I know you said people don't come back. And how have you got away with not going?"
"Leosin is still in bad shape. I'd heal him more, but I think both of our injuries help with the deception." She looks over the group trying to see if any of them look remotely like Leosin.
@Inglenook (Go ahead and roll for perception to see if you can see Travis or the Prof.)
Leosin's eyes widen as he says, "A dragon egg...This conforms my suspicions! Before, these cultists were only interested in raising dracolitches, but now it looks like they want to bring more dragons to this part of the world. Maybe this also means....no, I won't even consider it. Quickly, we must get word back to my order in Greenest!" Though he tries to keep a brave face, he is disappointed by the news that the group is not much for disguises. "If not a disguise, maybe a diversion? The work details go out every four hours to get game, herbs, and mine the precious stones in the other caves. The people are only given a cup of water a day and some kobold-baked bread, so they mainly die of exhaustion. Mondath is torturing me at the return of each work detail to try and find out what I know."
(Kiari, Cale, and Inglenook can roll Investigation to find a Leosin lookalike)
Kirari spots a likely elf and gestures gently to the others in his direction. "That one there looks a likely match. We don't want to leave him in it long though Leosin took a bad beating. One of you should talk to him."
(Folks in the pen could try and persuade the stand in for the escape)
Thaddeus and Travis would make it to the northeastern cave and drop off their bag of loot. There are dozen more bags just like it with cultists examining and sorting materials into piles. A cultist mumbles, “Move along” and motions them back toward the main part of camp. They would see a tent that looks much larger than the others as well as the larger eastern cave with Kobold guards.
(Would Travis and The Professor like to explore the camp or head back to the pen?)
"Really. I have no real skill at convincing people unless they need my aid." Giving a nod in the elf's direction. "I tend to be a little to straight forward for this sort of thing."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Sorry Shorty" Cale says to Inglenook, then to both the gnome and Kiari: "I think we should hold tight for Champ and the Professor before we kick anything off, but yeah let's see if this complete stranger is willing to take a risk for us"
Cale sidles up to the Leosin lookalike and says "I read once that when we face the end, it is important to face it with purpose. My friend, my name is Cale and I must ask you to take a chance on a complete stranger. Would you be willing to do something for me, in exchange for no payment other than my vow to do all I can to release you afterwards? I also promise to deliver a message to anyone for you"
Thaddeus leaves the cave where the loot was collected and whispers to Travis “Shall we look about the camp? Maybe we can see or hear something helpful?”
"My friend, I sense something good about you and your friends...", then, in a hushed tone and with eyes wide, the half-elf says to Cale, "I think you are companions of the heroes of Greenest! It is time for me to stand up and be counted and will do my part to protect my town; what do you need from me? I have gone on two hunting expeditions and fear I will not see the light of the next dawn if I am rounded up for another one." He stands as straight as he can and says, "My name is Kelvini, and would you please send word to my wife that I love her so much and that I died trying to protect Greenest by aiding its protectors? I also hid my promise ring she gave me, could you return it to her as it is a family heirloom?"
On the other side of the camp, Thaddeus and Travis would notice it is a changing of the guard at the eastern cave. They also see Cyanwrath emerge from the large tent (Perception or Stealth would be needed here).
Travis grunts quietly and looks to Thaddeus. "Any chance we should look into that?" he mutters quietly, nodding toward the changes at the eastern cave.
Kirari raises an eyebrow as Cale speaks to the look-a-like and whispers to Inglenook, "Is that what they call Roguishly charming? I swear I'd say yes myself to that approach. But we do have to get that poor guy out of here as soon as we can."
Cale looks solemn, no trace of the cocky rogue that his new companions might expect, as he takes the elf's hand in his: "Kelvini, it is souls like yours that are the reason why the good people of Greenest, and towns like it, will always survive the cruel attentions of groups such as these monsters. We are indeed with the Champion of Greenest.
That man over there, whose likeness you must have noticed, is crucial to Lord Nighthill's plans to protect Greenest. If you can stand in for him at the next work detail while we dash him to safety then the plan will live. Without him, all we can do is pray.
I will deliver your ring and your message to your wife, and then I will be back to release you"

OOC - DM can I see the Prof. or Travis from here?

Cale's redundant Investigation roll as Kiari already smashed it lol: 16
Kiari is almost immediately able to spot another male half-elf in the pen who is just about the height of Leosin (what are the odds?!).
(roll persuasion or intimidation if you would like this person to take Leosin’s place )
