Vaike quickly casts a zone of truth focused on the dead. While he can't go back to sleep while the zone is up, he tries to close his eyes to impede the growing headache the magical overload of all his spell slinging and artifact wearing causes. He's ready to tell the group of the skulls lie for any further questions. (15 CHR for all answers from here on)

(So it was done kinda weird, online thread post vs. table top and all that, but basically, the corpses have the capacity to lie for two questions, they have to answer two questions truthfully, and I can detect if they do lie about a question.)
(Edit 1: and if the order of the rolls mean anything, they have the capacity to lie for this second question, and the forth question, but have to tell the truth for the third and fifth questions)
"Who or what is the verdent?" looking at the dead lizard man.
(I was rolling individually, but I like Vaike's method better. Lie detector with fuzzy results on answer 1 and 3 it is :). I should've mentioned it before, but just my personal preference, I will typically roll for most important down to least. HINT HINT: If someone rolls first and the most prominent figure falls in with the second save, you may want to start looking around. #DMSecrets)
The ornate lizardman looks around as two others hiss, "The Verdant were masters of the forest. Szazzul is master now."

Is this the question that he had the possibility of lining on? Could you give some indicator, like the zone/aura around the skull starts flickering to indicate that they bypassed the check?
(Edit: Im throwing this out as a suggestion, because the description of the spell says I know weather they passed or failed a roll, but not necessarily if I know that it is a lie or not, so some way like a flickering zone would be a flavorful way of indicating that they passed the roll)
You received the first answer of why they were scouting, then cast Zone of Truth. The 4 rolls were done in the order of the questions following, so they succeeded a save on the following (2nd, who/what are The Verdant) question and the 4th question to come. I treated the spell like a lie prohibitor in that they are compelled to answer truthfully to their knowledge, but you are aware of when they resisted. Think of a flatline on a like detector when it's no longer hooked to someone; you are detecting, but not receiving any indication of truth or deception.

While it's not a lie, the lizard-leader's statememt about rulership over the forest is more of an opinion, like that of a conqueror staking claim.

The lead lizard opens its mouth as if to speak, then hesitates. If there was discomfort, its stoic demeanor would not allow it to show. Instead, it clenched its eyes and let out a suppressed hiss, "The Master leads our people from the north. Those that escaped will travel through the night night and return in the morning with news."
(Vaike receives confirmation that the head was successfully compelled to answer truthfully)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Satisfied that the Lizardfolk have nothing of value, Gridolpho continues hiding the non-talking bodies.
Stealth?

One of the thief's daggers slips out of his sleeve and into his waiting palm. With his characteristic twitchiness, he flips the dagger from hand to hand in a practiced juggle.
Eyeing a target-shaped bole in one of the nearby trees, Gridolpho winds up for a practice throw. His backswing is expertly interrupted by Perrin who "tsks" him for even thinking of skewering a living tree. Perrin lowers the thief's throwing arm and pushes an egg-on-toast sandwich into his hands instead.
Chewing, Gridolpho hears the most recent answer from the dead Lizard's mouth.
Vaike’s power induced Migräne flares up, and he can no longer pretend to get shut eye. He stands up, and starts trudging to the skull, and asks “what can Sazzul do, powers and abilities wise?
Vaike's reading of the lizardman's integrity goes grey momentarily as the head gives a satifsfied his, "Szazzul is the Great Shadow and has lived many of our lives. We understand, He is no god, but is the great hunter claiming his prize."

The reptilian head once again closes its eyes and lets out a soft hiss, "We have many scores of warriors and beasts at our disposal. Not enough to challenge your people or The Verdant until the coming of Szazzul. His might has brought others of the swamp: hags of black magic, mighty trolls, and skinchangers from far lands. Your army will not reach Dalenor without blood offering to Szazzul and His swamp."
