When the party settle down for the evening, fed and watered, all restraints off, and safe… for a while at least, Lia would gesture to stool and ask them to open the spore network for anyone who might like a little evening music.
Silently, she’d ‘think’ a few songs into existence. She’d think about the strings, and various singing parts. Starting with a melancholy (but hopeful) duet with herself, that might sound a little something like this…
A song that speaks of returning home or to a safe place. Then she’d settle down to sleep ((or take requests if anyone is keen on the ‘silent disco’)).
All the while, Lia has her eyes closed, and silently mouths the words, and moves her hands and fingers as if playing, tapping a foot maybe, imagining and visualising the performance, lost in her own little world for a few moments at least.
End Day 3 of Freedom, traveling to Darklake: Miles traveled, ~25
You all make camp, Lia entertaining via spore-link, much to Stool's overwhelming delight. ("Yaaaay! Your thoughts tickle!")
After meditating, the elves get ready to head out and forage, the Prince lamenting as you do, "If only I was not trapped in this body that needs to rest so long I'd accompany you! Be safe out there."
In your four hours of scavenging, you find a couple patches of ripplebark, harvesting ten pounds.

Galingal looks Dendril square in the eyes as he mentions being trapped in his body.
"How did this happen to you?" Galingal asks, not yet convinced that this isn't just some sort of intelligent quaggoth.
After collecting more food in the night, and making water in the morning, Galingal looks at the others, trying to gauge their fatigue level. They seem okay.
"While can, and while have food, should press on quick." Galingal says. "Drow need little rest. Food come to them easy."
"Waterorbs, yeah? Interesting!"Thom says to Sarith as he explains these strange spherical fungi which he's never seen before.
((@Spider, ah ok perfect thanks for the help with the food items! SO after we subtract for this upcoming day 4 travel, we should have 1 food item remaining, right? Yikes. Break out the waterorbs!))
Now that Denedril is free (likely?) he also says "Your royalness, how are you doing yeah? Must be getting excited the closer we get to escaping this place so you can get back home, yeah? We've travelled a long way already."
Ok, that is good to know about Stool and the telepathic comms in the evening. Thom is planning on using the comms sooner than later to a few of the party members.
Thom enjoys Lia's thought-songs, and he gets a great sleep because of it.
With Sarith's wrong turn, Thom says "Perhaps we should go just a a bit slower, yeah? Are we getting close Sarith?"
"Deceit and treachery, friend Galingal. My father's trusted advisor, Terrestor worked foul magics upon me, rendering my form what you see before you. I ended up down here, cut off from my people."
The Prince responds to Thom.
"I fear our journey has just begun, Thom. The routes to the surface, as best I understand, are few and far between, with many dangers before us, and drow slavers behind us."
Sarith shakes his head,
"We're maybe halfway to Darklake, but we've been making good time."
In the evenings or other times when Stool has the spore-link active, Jimjar takes it on himself, with help from some of the others who can speak both Common and Undercommon, to teach the surface folk the meanings of Undercommon words.
Start Day 4 of Freedom, traveling to Darklake: Miles traveled, ~25
The decision is made to proceed at a fast pace again today, and Sarith sets off with determination, leading you through twisting, wet tunnels, your cold weary feet slapping against the tunnel floor as you hurry along. Your pace doesn't allow time for foraging, and any water you come across is undrinkable. Stena spots a likely resting spot, in a cavern softly lit by green glowing lichen and moss-like growths. The 'moss's light slowly fades when stepped on, but but should provide a soft and somewhat more insulated place to bed down than the past few nights.
End Day 4 of Freedom, traveling to Darklake: Miles traveled, ~33
As you make camp, Stool fires up the spore-link. <Yummy glow-food!> He toddles over to some of the moss as Lex sets him down and starts plucking it out and consuming the no longer glowing bits.
Derendil makes himself useful helping dig a trench for Galingal's water.

"Ye haven't made a bet in days? Ye feeling unwell?"
Otherwise she keeps up her checks on the twins and Eldeth. For the first time she'll also speak with the Drow.
In an open link to those that are interested she'll ask,
<What do we do once we reach Darklake? Shushaar tells me the duergar have a number of operations there, which isn't promising, and we shouldn't expect much help from his people.>
She gives him a hard stare,
<Where will your people stop following us Sarith?>
"I have a bet going with Lex that I can go three days without making a bet! Want to bet I can go fou-- DAMMIT!"
<Operations? Gracklstugh is to the southwest, that's where the majority of duergar activity is, though there have been duergar outposts and locks built in other places. I tend to steer clear of Sloobludop when I can, but as Shuushar mentioned, we may be able to purchase boats there. Crossing the Darklake is almost certain to lose any tail we've got. I doubt I've any claim to call them my people, though I'm clearly drow.>
He sighs.
<I'm an outcast now... At best I've shamed my house, and they'll lose status, and blame me for it. Even if I wished it, there's no easy way to integrate myself back into drow society. As much as they want the rest of you as escaped slaves, they want me to make an example of. Getting to Darklake is still our best bet to lose them.>
<We should go home! I want to go home.>, Stool interjects.
Eldeth mutters to Stena,
"I don't trust these darkdwellers. The mushroom's alright, but the sooner we can leave the rest behind the better, as far as I'm concerned."

For a moment, Galingal finds something in Derendil's story that gets through the single mindedness he has had so far.
"Your people need to be freed from this wizard," Galingal says. He looks like he's about to say more but closes his mouth and goes back to finishing the trench with Derendil. As they work, Galingal listens to the others discuss where to go once they get to Darklake.
"As long as free from enslavement," Galingal says, "I care not which direction."
Galingal looks over at Stool at the mention of home. His hand then reaches up to grab something at his neck, but then when it finds nothing there, it remains lost for a moment before falling back down to his side.
Food, water, and movement. That's all to focus on for now, Galingal thinks.
As is usual, once the water is cast, and he's spent time in meditative rest, Galingal will join Sarith for the remainder of the night scouring for food, or anything else of use.
As you and Sarith are out foraging, you come across an alcove where heated water burbles the surface before seeping down another crack. Sarith identifies the pale orange-white fungus coating the rocks in the area as fire lichen, and breaks off a piece for you to taste the spicy heat it imparts.
"Can be used to flavor foods. The grey dwarves make a spicy liquor from it."
You harvest four pounds of the lichen and are heading back to camp when you hear harsh voices echoing from up ahead, coming from between you and the rest of the party...
Back at camp...
Stena, Thom and Lia, you are all roused by Jimjar speaking into your mind, along with the other resting former slaves. Turvy is lying facing the cavern, with a hand crossbow before him, peering out into the cavern ahead. The soft glow of the moss paints a faint illumination through the cavern, though the moss itself is darkened where you are lying on it.
Jimjar had roused Stool and had him spore the party where you lie nestled together for warmth.
<Wake up, but do it quietly! I heard voices! Not Sarith and Galinal!>
Thom, you hear them first, then the others as they get closer. They seem like they will soon be entering the cavern you're currently occupying.
@Thom

Galingal stops and listens for a moment, stopping Sarith as well, making sure he hears the voices. Harsh humanoid voices, but a kind Galingal is not familiar with. Not elvish, and not Undercommon; nothing like what Jimjar has been teaching.
He draws his rapier and moves quietly to get closer to the voices, trying to remain unseen.
Slipping forward, Galingal spots eight small humanoids marching along, pointy ears and dusky skin.
Goblins.
Alerts are hissed back and the goblins begin sneaking forward towards your fellows in camp.
Sarith Stealth: 6
They take no notice of Galingal, but Sarith is another matter as his foot scuffs against a loose rock, sending it clattering. The goblins whirl about, and seeing a pair of elves behind, pull weapons, including scimitars and shortbows.
((Positioning wise, the elves are 40-60 ft back from the goblins, and the closest of the recently resting party in the bed of glowing moss is 60ft or soon the other side, putting Galingal and Sarith ~120 ft from the party. We'll try to run it theater of the mind as much as possible. It's about 2 hours into your 4 hour foraging expedition, you'd just been returning with the fire lichen.))
"The gnomes and myconid have been solid enough, and I won't be leaving the twins. The rest, including that odd grey elf? Best to part ways with them as soon as we can."
Thom takes note of Derendil talking to Galingal but decides to keep quiet about what he may or may not know or think about the Prince. After all, there hasn't been any other episodes after the initial meeting, and it seems this quaggoth has been a valuable ally in the escape so Thom just keeps all of his thoughts to himself for the time being.
However, Thom does say to the prince out loud so everyone around can hear "hey Prince Derendil your royalness, what's the first thing you're gonna do when you get back home to Nelrindenvane?" He stresses the word Nelrindenvane.
33 miles is a long way! I imagine the party would've gotten to know each other quite well by now even for the members who don't do a lot of talking. At least their personalities at surface level. Thom wouldn't have said much but is happy to have found such an able group to get out of this mess together with.
Thom pays attention as best he can when Stena and Sarith start to think through the link about potential plans and next steps once we reach this Darklake.
((are duergar an underdark creature? If so, Thom would have no idea of them))
what are duergar, yeah?
I agree with Stool on this, yeah? I want to go home, too.
And he kind of smiles at the strange fungus.
yeah.. what is after Darklake, Sarith? And how far by boat to cross?
Thom really is feeling lost down here, and when Sarith starts naming off some various places he really has no idea and is just banking that Sarith does know the way which offer the best chance of escape.
Thom whispers to whoever is around him "GOBLINS, MATES! Well, better than those drow, yeah?"
and he takes his longbow off his back and prepares to shoot.
Stena will give Thom a look she reserves for people that are making inappropriate jokes or saying something utterly ridiculous when he asks about the duergar. When she determines he isn't joking and is merely criminally ignorant she explains slowly,
<The duergar are a clan of dwarves that got lost in the underdark and lost their minds along the way. Shushaar called them the gray dwarves. They are not people you would like to meet or to rely on. I don't know if they are friendly with the drow here but Sarith has implied they aren't.>
---
Stena hushes Thom through the spore link when he loud whispers.
((When Thom speaks aloud to the Prince so everyone can hear, he's speaking in Elivsh, so Galingal and maybe a few others understand?))
"I don't know how much sway he holds... and my current form is ill equipped for passing unnoticed... If I were to be able to break this curse first, I could return as my true self and rally the people to me!"
((Yeah, after a few days together in freedom, and some of you most of a week in captivity, you'd have gotten to know folks probably more than is possible to convey in RP format.))
<How far? Depends on where we're going. Not all of it is accessible by boat, but if we pick up boats from the kuo-toa, we could head south towards Gracklstugh... I've no love for the duergar, and they've no love for the drow...>
<But there would be lots of shops there to resupply those of you that want to make it back to the surface, and they'd not be keen on drow search parties nosing about.>, Buppido volunteers.
Sarith Initiative: 13
((The goblins had started stealthing up on the party before they noticed Sarith and Galingal creeping up behind them, they turned to deal with the pair of elves, but in doing so, exposed themselves to the rest of the roused party.))
"Grey dwarves, yeah?"<Oops. Right. Grey dwarves? Wow, alright. Hopefully we don't meet up with them then. Thanks, Stena.>
Assuming the goblins see Thom, he's going to move forward directly towards them, bow drawn and looking for any type of cover behind a rock or something that might give him some protection.
He will yell out in goblin:
Leave us be or prepare to meet your fate, goblins!
Thom readies an arrow and will shoot at the first goblin/boss who attacks any of the party members.

"Grey dwarves, yeah?" <Oops.
