Sweeps grips the handle of his maul tighter as he watches Amadi go down under the blows of the undead creature. Even as Sunny moves in to offer aid, Sweeps grits his teeth and brings his maul down in two overhead swings, pounding Undead I.
Attack: 23 Damage: 15 force damage
Attack: 9 Damage: 11 force damage
(Sweeps Passive Perception is 16)
Using Inspiration to reroll one attack roll: Attack: 7 Damage: 12 force damage.
Alerted by the screeching sounds of the curse incarnate, the adventurers, save for Gabriel, notice the avian monstrosity rising amidst the squalid houses of the yard, little less than a hundred feet away. The box, they all realize. That could be the place where the box is buried. The only problem is that to reach the area they would need to pass through the misshapen undead and the chained figure. Not that they didn’t need to before, but now they had a further reason. The way to stop the murders, the evidence to clean their names, stood a victory away.
It was enough to rise their spirits and Sweeps, especially, released his own onslaught. With his strength and fury, the Barbarian brought down his mace, pulverizing the first exanimate the group found. Arms and legs, skulls, pieces of bone and chunks of putrid meat and stale ichor splattered all around. The mountain of corpses started to shake and collapse upon itself. In a last effort it launches two attacks against the genasi, the threat that almost obliterated it. The first strike is erratic and don’t land anywhere close its target, but the second one hit Sweeps’ torso. An impact largely reduced by his Rage, to the point of being negligible.
The second zombie, not have been attacked yet, keeps its attention on its target, Amadi, but despite his wounds Shadeflame was already becoming used to the fighting style of those creatures, if one could call their offensives in such manner. With weapon and armor the cleric warrior easily deflect the enemy charge. The third exanimate to appear tries to approach the adventurers despite the obstruction formed by the figure of its… Companion? It stops the moment that someone, Sunny, enters its range, and strikes against her. With the dexterity of a dancer the ranger evades both the slams.
In the distance the chained figure growls in frustration, obstructed by its own lackeys.
Notes: I have updated the map in the Roll20 game. The purple rectangle represents the overall area fro where most of the characters saw the crow come. In case of doubt, as always, feel free to as in the OOC chat.
@Gunner, Sweeps is hit by one attack receiving 13 damage (8+5) halved to 6 because of Rage. @Althax, it is now Sylvio's turn. @Gruba, after Sylvio's it is Gabriel's turn. @Jynne, your Healing Spirit have one more healing before dissipating.
Sylvio is weakened from being buried by the creature’s flesh. He looks around at the other’s fighting against more of the creatures and looks for his opening. Seeing the cramped quarters he realizes that his tactical choices are limited.
Sylvio quickly darts towards the southeast and summons the thunderous energy into his attacking scimitar 21 attack for 10 slicing damage and 4 thunder damage. He then stabs with his short sword in the offhand 27 for 5 piercing damage.
Because the creatures are grouped together he does not have the time for some of his more subtle techniques and quickly backs away from the creature moving further down the alleyway.
Gabriel sees the spot where the crow emerged, and as much as it pains him, knows that he needs to get to that point as fast as possible.
"I have an idea, I'll be as quick as I can!" he shouts to his friends.
(Gabriel will use his flying speed and Dash action to move 60ft towards the point that the bird originated from. As soon as he reaches it he intends to destroy the box, digging it up if necessary)
Sunny glances quickly at Gabriel and his destination. She utters some sounds, almost as if she's choking or strangling momentarily in the direction of the mastiff hoping he understands her command. She then shouts out to Gabriel in Draconic,
Chewy's coming! Tell him what to do, he can help sniff it out and dig.
Trying not to give away the directions she's given her companion or draw too much attention to him.
@DM
She's basically commanded Chewy to go quickly but as sneaky as possible to Gabriel and do what he tells him to do. Or as close as she can command him to do so. She knows the risk she might be putting him in

Amadi was flanked by two of the creatures and needed to dispatch one as quickly as possible. Heaving his hammer he again struck at the one to the north of him.
Attack: 16 Damage: 18
If it hits and the creature isn't killed
Amadi called upon his holy power to strike with a Searing Smite for an extra 3 fire
Unbound by the flesh of tomb that limited his movements, Sylvio advances with agility. His blades slashing the first undead to enter his range. One, two, the slashes cut deep into the rotten amalgam of corpses. The first of them empowered by the elf’s signature Booming Blade. Conscious of the damage suffered, Scarpaldi retreats shortly after while Gabriel flies in the direction from which the monstruous crow came from. Sunny is fast to understand the Aasimar’s plan and commands Chewy to follow and help him. She warns Bryte of this in draconic, a language that not only both of them shared, but that none of the enemies understood.
Fast and smart, the mastiff advances at full speed, avoiding engagement with any of the zombies. This way he leaves no opening for opportunistic attacks. While this happens Amadi strikes the first of exanimate. The warrior of Gond could feel in his bones that he would not reach the collapsing mishap in front of him. In the last moment he changes his posture, correcting the strike. Maybe it was divine inspiration or simple luck. It doesn’t matter. Shadeflame hit the target, making the huge pile of corpses break into a flood of putrid remains.

@Everyone, the Undead I was eliminated. @Everyone, all attacks hit (I will keept track of hit and miss attacks for the purposes of facilitating your speculation of enemy AC). @Jynne, I assumed that Chewy took the Disengage action. If the assumption was wrong feel free to say so. @Jynne, it is now Sunny's turn.

Sunny leaves the healing spirit where it is to use its remaining healing essence on Amadi 3 before it dissipates.
Trying to avoid being flanked, she attacks the nearest undead to her knowing that she needs to make every strike count and deciding she does her friends no favors hiding in her shell. She wields the dual shortswords like they were an extension of herself with speed and finesse. (I hope)
4 for healing on Amadi - spell ends
Attacking Undead II (going after the crow should she be able to take out this undead) 2 attacks per round plus two weapon fighting -> total 3
1st Shortsword Attack: 22 Damage: 8
2nd Shortsword Attack: 22 Damage: 5
3rd Shortsword again Attack: 24 Damage: 4
(if three attacks with shortsword not ok, swap 2nd attack for a kick w/same +6 with an automatic 4 bludgeoning damage)
A last pulse of warm energy flows from the healing spirit, easing, ever so slightly, the suffering of the child of Gond before dissipating. Seeing Sylvio’s focus on the now closest undead, Sunny pulls her blades full speed. A rain of steel tearing through decomposing flash, spilling rotten blood through the ground. The integrity of the misshapen of corpses is visibly reduced. As it happens the crow screeches again and strike with and advances against the beastmaster.
And attack seems imminent, but instead, when the kotoribako incarnate is but ten feet over the tortle, it stops at glares at her. Its eyes flash crimson as it tries to clutch its victim with the essence of its curse. A familiar sensation of nausea creeps over the ranger. She knows that if she fails to resist she will be weakened, but it would still be less damaging than a direct hit. Then why didn’t the crow simply attack? Sadao’s words about the malediction echoed in her mind. Maybe it was the nature of the box, manifesting as a compulsion on the avian actions.
From his part, Gabriel cannot yet see any sign of box or hole in the direction from where the winged exanimate came. The aasimar can only conclude that the box was buried around there and suddenly, the proximity of the mastiff seems reassuring. The chained figure hisses at Bryte’s figure, flying to high to be reached by him.

@Everyone, the Undead II is visibly damaged. Judging by how much damage took to bring Undead I down you can estimate that Undead II is around half health. @Everyone, considering Chewy's size I will consider he was not hindered by the space the zombies take. This ruling will not apply to your characters. @Jynne, roll a Constitution Save Throw for Sunny (DC15). All of Sunny's attacks hit. @Gunner, it is now Sweeps turn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sweeps cries out as Amadi hits the undead creature in front of him with his hammer, splattering gore and ichor everywhere as it goes down. “That one was mine!” Caught up in his rage, he pivots and turns, spotting the wounded undead on the other side of him next to Sunny. With a bellow, he bring his maul up over his shoulder and down, once, then twice, slamming into undead II, making both attacks recklessly.
Attack: 26 Damage: 16 force damage
Attack: 24 Damage: 14 force damage

Damage of the only attack that hit (the 27 against Sweeps) in the next post.
