‘Thank you, that would be excellent…’ Melchor nods in appreciation, handing over 20gp and putting the incense into his pack. He looks around, and picks up a bright red scarf. ‘How much for this?’
Vallivoe smiles. "Since we are doing so much business, consider it my gift! ". He looks over at Fr'reona nervously. "Please stop hopping. I can't sell damaged merchandise!"
Kaylessa wakes you late that evening, keen to have someone help out with the quarry mystery. You find she has prepared a quick egg breakfast for you, on the house. You scarf down the food and head towards the quarry. The town, obviously, is very still in the cool night air.
You get to the quarry and see A sign set on two posts in a scrap of weedy lawn out front of this small house that reads “Mellikho Stoneworks.” The quarry pit begins just behind the house. What Kaylessa has said is true; no one is working the night shift. You also understand why. There is a discomforting sense that you are being watched
After some fitful sleep, reliving the horrors of the prior adventure, Randall is eager to be underway. He scarfs down some food before jogging back to his little room next to the forge and dons his armor and shield, before rejoining the others at the inn to start their mission.
Once at the quarry, Randall takes out his new hooded lantern, fills it with oil and lights it.
“Look out, Evil. This time I can see.”

On his way out of the store Melchor gives the bright red scarf to Shrek. ‘This is by way of thanks for you standing guard outside for me…’
When back at the inn, Melchor will cast Find Familiar, bringing Glimmer back as a jet black Owl for now, then he settles down for a long rest…

Melchor sends Glimmer circling above the group, looking for any watchers or anything out of place, then gives Randall a sharp look. ‘You’ve just painted a target on us for anyone watching. Warn us next time, please.’

Randall prepares a retort about the fact he carried a lit torch through the entirety of their last mission and no one complained, up until the point he was nearly butchered by skeletons in the pitch dark…. It chokes it back. “Yeah… sure.”

Olaerys rested and recovered, walks with the group and gets the same feeling, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up. “Something is here, I know it.” He stands at the periphery and strains with his dark vision to see any movement in the dark, looking for the source of that feeling…

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Clueless as ever, Shrek stumbles along with the group as they approach the quarry, more focused on his new red scarf (from Melchor) than the surroundings. In the moonlight, you even might notice him tearing up...never having received a gift before. He vows to himself that he'd never forget that simple gift of kindness, and will endeavor to repay it.
OOC: I'm not going to roll any perception check, as Shrek is so engrossed with his gift from Melchor, he's pretty blind to what's going on around him right now. Yeah, he's pretty dumb!
The quarry itself is 20 feet down from where you are standing, at a path at the edge of the quarry accessible from the road. The height difference from the top of the bluff/upper ledge is 50 feet (So, 30 feet higher than where you ar. The quarry is roughly circular with a diameter of about 300 feet.
Glimmer doesn't see much but up at the northwest edge of the quarry, at the top of the bluff, Olareys spots a man wearing a mask watching from in the trees.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Shrek jambs his finger up his nose, roots around for a good 10 seconds, and pulls out a softball sized nose goblin. Inserting it into his mouth and swallowing it in one enormous gulp, he grins, grits his teeth, and takes off at a sprint towards the tree that Olaerys pointed out.
Alerted to the presence of the masked person, Melchor sends Glimmer flying over to keep watch, and follow if they run from Shrek. He then mutters a few words, shimmering lightly, before picking his way carefully after Shrek.

The masked watcher seems startled as he realizes he has been noticed and that a huge Goliath is running after him. He turns and begins to run, but not before firing a panicky crossbow shot at Shrek.

His adrenaline spike works in his favour as he is able to quickly load and aim well enough to get the faraway Shrek in the leg. Despite the somewhat dangerous footing, he is able to turn and run at full speed, avoiding the branches and loose rock

Randall's memories are not overly helpful but he does know how the tunnels are setup and used a bit and can identify the entrances
Shrek let’s out a quiet whistle of appreciation. “Wow. Big hole in ground. Shrek like rocks here. Bet expensive rocks found here.”
He’ll follow Randall around like a lost puppy dog, since he appears to know his way around here.
