Wake - Larby listens as he follows you back to the campsite, "Huh. I must've had a bad reaction to them. I hope everyone back home is okay. Where did you say we were again? My village is about a stone's throw from Saltmarsh if you've ever heard of it. We do a bit of trading with them. They have the best seafood along the Sword Coast! Speaking of seafood, I'm famished! I wonder if that peddler has any more mushrooms left, I could eat a dozen or more right now." You then hear Larby's stomach growl as if on cue.
Wake points to the colorful front of Larby’s shirt.
”I don’t recommend the mushrooms.” he says with a half-smile.
”I am not exactly sure of our location, either. However, we are traveling to Saltmarsh ourselves. My associate Isadore, the dwarf over there, is the only one of us that has been to Saltmarsh before. Perhaps he is familiar with your settlement. Would you do us the honor of spending the night with us? We can share our dinner, even if it will be fairly modest.”
Elwyn - Isadore stands watch over the elven man with his cross bow in hand. You hear the elven man say, "Friend Dwarf! Release me and I'll give you a deep discount on- okay, okay!" The sound of a crossbow being cocked puts an end to the elven man's offer.
Wake - Led by looks down at his shirt and says, "Hmm? Oh, I suppose you're right." He tries wiping the vomit from his shirt again and wipes his hand on a tree as he walks by, "Sure! I'll join you for dinner as long as you and your friends don't mind my stink."
Wake introduces Larby to the group. “He and his kin have suffered injury from this peddler as well. I think he should also have a say in his fate. Oh and I invited him to join us in camp tonight and for supper. He says his village is near Saltmarsh.”
"Nice to meet you Larby, I see you calmed down a bit, had a bite of the magic mushrooms no doubt. You can certainly have your say into the matter of the charlatan." Elwyn says and goes back to eating his dinner while waiting for the others opinions.
All - Larby nods and waves to you all before taking a seat near the fire, "Nice to meet you all. And thank you for helping me. As for the elf, well, he doesn't look all that bad just sitting there tied to the tree. Looks kinda pitiful to be honest. I've got no hard feelings over the mushrooms and neither violence nor revenge sit well with me. No, I'd say just let him go." He rubs his hands together and says, "Now, what's on the menu tonight?"
“‘Fraid it’s stone soup again tonight, Larby. I told you not to get your hopes up.”Wake says as he helps add odds and ends into the small cauldron suspended over the fire.
“Alright, we have one vote to let the scoundrel go. What’s everyone else’s thoughts? By the way, how’s Daveth doing?”
Ariana walks over to the bound peddler with her back to the group. She calls back to them, "We let the bandits go, and they did far worse than this elf."
She squats in front of him to get a close look at his eyes.
She reaches in to his pockets to grab a few mushrooms. She whispers to him, "If you say nothing, I'll get them to let you live and be on your way." She pockets the 5 mushrooms in a pocket in her dress.

She stands and calls out to the group, not turning away from the elf, "I say we let him go. Shall I untie him?"
The elf raises an eyebrow and gives you a curious look, but he gives you a slight nod and lets you take the mushrooms. Your check was higher than everyone's Passive Perception so I would say you successfully pocket the mushrooms without anyone noticing. If someone posts that they want to make a Perception check, we'll compare the two and go from there. But for now, you're successful. When you or someone else eats one of the mushrooms, roll 1d100 and refer to the wild magic table in the Wild Magic subclass section of the Sorcerer's class page on dndbeyond.
All - Isadore shrugs over his mug of ale and takes a sip, "I don't think he's much of a threat to us, but I don't want to be the reason some other poor feller gets turned into a sheep or has his arse blown off by this damn fool's gidgets. I say we let 'im go, but we keep the goods. Larby can sell 'em if he wants. If not, they're safer in our hands than his." He tilts his mug in the direction of the elf.
Kulogall has been on the periphery watching the course of events, and as the halfling crashes through the woods at the charlatan elf, Kulogall holds his hand to his head and seems lost in thought, addled. He shakes his head as the two wrestle on the ground and then are subdued with the sleep spell and then bound to the tree. He notes Daveth's odd form as he returns with Ruby and Ariana. Kulogall feels foolish and taken by the charlatan as he was starting to fall for his con. Now realizing this, he comes down heavier on him than his companions, perhaps by his own nature, and perhaps burned from falling for his ruse.
"I think that we should confiscate his fake magical items and let good Larby sell them or do whatever he wishes with them. As for the elf, I think we should take him with us either to Larby's village or Saltmarsh for judgement, perhaps it is a matter better handled by the local constable there in Saltmarsh. I would not feel right if he went on to play this trick or something similar to other honest travelers. Perhaps, with the proper motivation, he can be encouraged to change his ways." He looks long and hard at the elf, giving him his fiercest glare. "But that is just my thought on the matter. Larby, tell me of your village and Saltmarsh, how close are we to it now? Have you seen anything strange going on around Saltmarsh lately, any new arrivals to the area?" His hand goes up to his left temple reflexively, then comes back down and he looks in the fire for a good bit, then to Larby.

Ariana calls back to the group. "Have it your way, but I think he's harmless." She continues to stand near the elf, but turns to face the group, waiting for the okay to untie him.
The elven man thinks for a bit, then sighs and replies, "Fine. Yes, take the damned things if it means I can walk away from here unharmed and free." He adds, more to himself than to you, "I'm not really in a position to stop you from just taking them now am I?"
All - The elf shifts a bit beneath the ropes and says, "Well? What is it going to be? I'd rather not stay tied to this tree all night while you all dither about." Isadore says, "Hold on a minute, let's discuss this in my office." He motions for you all to join him away from the elven man, behind one of the wagons. "Larby, keep an eye on him." When everyone is present Isadore will say, "You lot have done a damn fine job keeping me and my caravan safe, all things considered. My boss'll be happy to hear that since she's paying ye fifty gold pieces each to do it. But she's not payin' ye to play sheriff. We don't need to worry ourselves with this one all the way to the mine. It's another eight and a half miles of travel by foot to Saltmarsh after that. We've done all we can here. Anything more would be going too far and I wouldn't be comfortable with it. Ye want to let him go with all his stuff, okay I won't belabor my point. Ye want to send him on his way empty handed? I'd say justice was served. But don't tote this snake all over hell just to teach him a lesson. It'll trouble us far more than it'll trouble him."

A switch flips in Kulogall's brain and his demeanor changes, he stomps over to where the elf is tied to the tree, his robe flutters in an unseen odd breeze and he stands over him, his voice raises to a near shout. "We will decide when we are done with you, I don't care if you are tied to the tree all night or not. I don't give a damn how long it takes. You better tell us whether you are planning on doing this to anyone again. Or do I have to show you what real magic looks like."
Kulogall's eyes begin to glow a positively orange hue, and fire spurts forth near the feet of the elf, but 5 feet away from his feet where he is tied to the tree. "Don't make me move it any closer. You had better tell me that you will never do this again." After holding the fire there for a minute and glaring in his eyes, he lets it disappear.

Kulogall - The elven man gasps and draws his legs as close to him as he can. He cringes and says, "Okay! Okay! I won't do it again!" He cowers and draws himself into a ball as best he can. "I'm sorry! Okay? I just... I'm sorry... What I did was wrong. I'm not trying to make excuses, but..." He hangs his head and in a broken voice he says, "I never had much of a role model growing up. In Neverwinter the only people that seem to do well for themselves are those that lie, cheat, and steal to get what they want. I've tried being honest, hells, I had a general goods store near the docks for forty years! I've been robbed, undercut by other merchants peddling smuggled goods, had my store burned down because I wouldn't pay the guild their dues... I..." He sobs a bit and says, "I'm not trying to make excuses... Sniff... I tried." He then hangs his head and cries silently. You all then hear a honk as Larby blows his nose on his filthy shirt, "Now that's real a tear jerker folks." He walks over to the elf and lays a hand on his arm, "I forgive you." Larby then sniffs and walks back over to his bowl of soup.
Kulogall stops and stands above him, says “A sad tale, but that does not excuse your behavior. Stop trying to make a quick coin by taking advantage of people, change your ways or I, or someone like me, will hunt you down.” He turns to Ariana, says “Ok, let’s release him. If you have taken his “magical” wares.”

Ariana holds a calming hand toward Kulogall. "It's okay, Kulogall. He's agreed to give up his items."
Then to the elf, "I'll be taking them now."
She reaches slowly for the wand, the stone, and the mushrooms.
If she gets them from the elf, she hands them to Kulogall and waits to see if he's calmed.
Kulogall - The elven man gasps and draws his legs as close to him as he can. He cringes and says, "Okay! Okay! I won't do it again!" He cowers and draws himself into a ball as best he can.
