With an enemy so close, Rhogal resorts to bonking it on the head. Already severely damaged from Yulmiath's earlier hit, the serpent wiggles about for a bit before its movements cease. (Jaculi#3 takes 11 magical bludgeoning damage and is DEFEATED.)
Freed of the urgency of dealing with the nearest snake, Kairus aims a magical insult at the next one over. Although the spell lands, the creature still rears menacingly. (Jaculi#1 takes 3 psychic damage.)
Speaking of a menace, the two remaining serpents strike at Krodhen. Given their prey's proximity, they do not spring onto him from a distance.
The lingering effects of Kairus's spell do their job, nullifying the one serpent's attack. The other one, however, still sinks its fangs into the half-orc's flesh. Thankfully, the bite does not seem to be laced in venom. (Krodhen takes 10 piercing damage.)
The paladin retaliates immediately, focusing on the serpent who has earned his vow of enmity:
-> Flail, +1 vs. Jaculi#1: Attack: 14 Damage: 6 (14,6)
Although the faithful of Tyr lands a hit, it lacks its usual power. The snake still lives. (Jaculi#1 takes 6 magical bludgeoning damage.)
"On it!"Decreed Hun just moments before rushing into the thick of things until he actually stood between the oversized leather belts. "I'll keep them distracted, but try your best to make those killing blows clean ones!" He said, then took a deep, deep breath before releasing another rattling hiss to set the Jaculi into a panic.
(OOC Another crit! Bonus action to take another attack, Yully has a little movement left, so if he needs it, he'll take up position next to Krodhen too seeing at the last snake.)
Bonus Attack: 16 Damage: 18
If a Jaculi attacks Yully, he'll use his reaction to trigger vengeful assault:

Putting his shield in front of his torso, Hunrushes forward, passing by dead snakes and fighting allies to reach a sweet spot between the two remaining foes. From there, the kobold lets out another fearsome draconic cry, forcing the snakes to pay attention to him and open themselves to the attacks of other Snackers.
Yulmiath is more than happy to oblige. The next swing of his axe decapitates the most battered of the snakes and a another swing follows some squeezing through allies. This second attack injures the last foe but does not kill it. (Jaculi#1 takes 21 magical slashing damage and is DEFEATED; Jaculi#2 takes 18 magical slashing damage.)
Kwilgok steps a bit closer and releases another crossbow bolt. He then yells a command to his pet dinosaur: "Swing, DT! Swing!"
Kwilgok scores a hit, forcing the serpent to coil defensively. (Jaculi#2 takes 3 piercing damage.)
Deadly Treasure's armored tail smashes down on the snake exactly as it finishes coiling, allowing the dinosaur to bludgeon the entirety of the snake's body at once. (Jaculi#2 takes 38 bludgeoning damage and is DEFEATED.)
Kwilgok jumps up and punches the air: "Yeah!"
END OF INITIATIVE ROUND 2
WE ARE NOW OUT OF INITIATIVE. YOU MAY DO AS YOU WILL.
"I love this dinosaur!" Declared Kairus looking almost lovingly at the Deadly Treasure. But then he squatted near the closest dead snake to check the hide of the animal. "Have you noticed the colour change? Should make for an amazing cloak! Do we have enough of them?"He stood up again and asked the eternal group's question. "Kwilgok , are those snakes eatable?"
Whether they were or not, the next hour was dedicated to getting precious skin off (or helping more experienced to do so). Only after that was done, Kairus yawned widely and announced that he is ready to return to sleep. "Who's watch is it, anyway?"
Still pumped from the successful, Yulmiath lets loose with a "WOOOOOOOOO!"before offering Kwilgok a high five.
"We really showed them! You mess with the Pack, you're get a smack! Hun, that shirek was incredible! You put the fear into those snakes something fierce. They looked at you like you were a storm giant!" Feeling boistrous he gives another "WOOOOOO!" before calming himself through a few slow breaths, he will have to try and get a little more sleep tonight.
Before turning in, he decides to try and answer Kairus' question to Kwilgok although in doing so only raises a question of his own. "Snakes are venomous mostly, right? Venomous is they bite you. Poisonous is you have to bite them. Can they be posionous too? Bit of a double trouble situation?" Yulmiath looks to Rhogal, Hun and Kwilgok for confirmation.
Hun smirked at the adulation, but then looked thoughtful. "... Eh,depends on the snake."Hun replied while taking a moment to massage his neck. "Given the tactics this one employed, any venom it might possess is liable to be a weak one, if it possess any at all... But I'd look to our guide for confirmation of that." He thumbs Kwilgok's general direction, then lets out a big yawn.
"Either way, we should have enough for a cloak or two, but I'd need a day or two to make one that'll at least last a bit. More still to get it enchanted... But still! Don't mean we can't get the material and meat from these punks. Just need a bit of help."He sighs. "But best most of ya get back to sleep, as this'll liable take more than a hot minute. Just help move the bodies into one spot, and I'll take care of them from there... Needed to be up early anyhow." He said as much, though the last part comes out more as a mutter as the kobold made his way over to the head of one of the snakes to start examining them, and considering how best to skin them. "Young Green! Eh, uh.. Kwil! Yer fairly rested, ya? Mind staying up a bit to get these bodies sorted with me and K-man?"
(OOC: The above assumes that it would take at least an hour to skin the snakes/start the process of preparing the meat to make rations out of it, and I wasn't sure if it would count as an exhaustive enough interruption to force a restart on the long rest or not. If not, or if given the pass then wha-hoo! Either way, Hun will also [assist] whoever takes point on the effort.)

Despite being tired, the group can't help but celebrate a bit. Kwilgok's excitement is infections, and Yulmiath releases a few party yells while his blood is still feverish from the fight. The victory fanfare turns into a discussion about the snakes physiology, which the tortle guide is happy to clarify after Kairus and others theorize for a bit. "These biters are quite the rare sight in the island, so consider yourselves lucky. Despite their preferred method of attack, their fangs are nothing but pointy. No venom on those puppies. The bite can still hurt though, especially if driven deep into your skin with the aid of the jaculi's springing leap."Putting away his crossbow and pulling out a hunter's knife, Kwilgok looks at Hun and replies to the kobold's request with a simple conclusion: "Skin it and eat all you want. A rare treat for a unique group of hunters!"
Over the hour spent on the serpents, the group realizes that only two of the pelts are still usable. The serpent who was smashed by Deadly Treasure is almost nothing but a paste now, and the pelt of the one serpent which had to take many small strikes before going down has been shredded into ribbons. Thankfully the other two snakes are still long enough and should yield an acceptable amount of material to eventually furnish a scarf, reinforce a pair of boots, or produce some other sort of accessory. It will all depend on how skillful the group is in harvesting the raw material.
As per the remainder of the rest, Krodhen still feels a bit guilty for allowing the danger to come so close to camp: "I'll finish the watch and then some. I reckon we'll have to sleep in a little more than usual this morning to make up for the interruption."
The group eventually rests for a total of 10 hours, feeling just as rested in the late morning as they would have over a more mundane night.
(OOC: The long rest is complete but that skinning roll is still pending. Someone will need to volunteer to roll a survival check with advantage. I'll lower the DC since so many of you are helping. If you want to save some of the meat for short-term rations, let's get a separate survival check with advantage. If you want either Krodhen or Kwilgok to roll, please feel free to do so on their behalf. Krodhen gets +0 and Kwillgok gets +3.)
Emerging from his tent, Yulmiath starts stretching. It's a big day for him and the other Packers. Lots of heavy lifting and hopefully enough gold and treasure to buy his own ship! Or to set himself up in an honest profession...
Or further delving into the temple and he'll need to be nice and limber. Tip-top fighting shape. Because they'll be more fighting. There always is.
"Right! We cleaning the place out or taking what we've found so far? What's the plan? And how many times is be Kairus going to become a seagull?"
Yulmiath laughs at his own joke towards the end, then suddenly becomes serious, looking up into the sky at the few birds up there.
"How many of those gulls up there started at overly keen adventurers who took a load off on that throne?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Between Khrodens assessment and the others eagerness to participate, Hun soon enough relented, and instead refocused on providing whatever manner assistance was possible can over the hour. Even once the matter of the harvest is over, this hadn't meant Hun's work would be wholly complete! Just only delayed to catch a few more Zzz's before waking early for WHOLE mess of busy work.
Much to his personal chagrin, there was no way of sneaking away without endangering himself in the process. So short of being able to convince Kwilgok and Deadly Treasure to help shield his morning side project, the party is treated to the sight Hun putting the final pieces together for a new steel defender. This one being a stouter construct as tall if not taller than most dwarves, but with old leather boots covering its feet, body plates made in part from adjusted bronze shields, various junkwork gears just barely covered by other salvaged plates, three fingers that were closer to clamps, and the salvaged remains of Mr. Thicc's howdah platform. Only this time it actually folded now!
"And just one... final... touch." He said as he tied a neat little bow about one of the arms. "There. She's complete. Was hoping to save these parts for when I got the material together to make a proper wizzle-or-uh... what was it called again back in -- Ah hah! Nimblewright! That was it... Or maybe..." He scratched at his head. "A shield guardian? Hmm... hm... Well whatever! Can always fix her later." Again if not immediate present, the group would hear him say as much aloud before stepping around from opposite side of Deady Treasure with the newly built Steel Defender. "I present to you, Mrs. Thinn! Say hello Mrs. Thinn."The Kobold order, and in response the construct taps her plate twice, causing a glowing message to appear to roll across her chest plate: "Salute, Howdy, Heya, and Hello! My name is Mrs. Thinn! Pleasure to make your acquaintance or send you to your Makers!" After a few seconds the words fade away and the construct waves to everyone.
"Pretty niffty, isn't? Oh and Mr. Yully? Apologies, but I took back the upgrades to your Axe while you were sleeping. Sorta, uh... sorta need'em to fix up the defender and shishkabober. But don't you worry! Once we're back in real civilization, I should be able to make you a permeant one within a few weeks." He assured the dragonborn

Checking his crop for the day, Rhogal says, "I reckon we ken risk clearing out whatever beastie is guarding all them chests. With all the trouble this ruin gave us, I say it owes us at least that much."
The group sleeps in a bit but still faces quite an abrupt awakening. Loud banging on metal is not exactly the pleasant nature sounds one expects when sleeping in a tropical island, but it is what the Snackers get today. Hopefully, the surprise of meeting a new companion is enough of a reward. *Mrs. Thinn joins the party*
Deadly Treasure feels a bit guilty about the role she played in waking up everyone!
Kwilgok has a surprise of his own to offer the group: He dedicated some time, with adequate help, to skinning the Jaculi and portioning the meats. The latter will serve well as meals for a few days (each Snacker can add 5 (6) rations to their inventory). The two full lengths of serpent skins are also usable, though there was some wastage in the skinning process. Hun thinks that, with the appropriate crafting time (many weeks) and dedication (dice rolls), he might be able to fashion some boots of striding and springing and perhaps even a scarf of invisibility.
Discussing next steps, Yulmiath and Rhogan reach an agreement: the group should clear out the temple and claim all of its treasures.
(OOC: If you have not done so yet, you may now complete the Long Rest. Where in the temple are you going next?)
Despite yesterday being probably the longest day in the group's island adventures, and the morning "wakeup call" being louder and more sudden than all the deafeningly loud birds of this paradise, Kairus awoke fresh and full of energy. He welcomed the new companion with the prettiest flower he could pick and warm greetings ("Mrs. Thinn, you are as beautiful as your name! Let our journey be as pretty and gentle as this flower."), then checked the snake skins ("Even prettier in the daylight! Certainly should be worked into something fashionable!") and finally (after breakfast, of course) gave his opinion on where to go next.
"Did not we want to get all the treasure out of that scary room with the mouth? Dear Mrs. Thinn could help to drag it here. Then we are free from the worries that someone will come to take it away."
He waited for a reaction and suggested an alternative plan. "Or we can do as you say, Yul. Fly as seagulls around checking everything that's left and making notes, then clean it up from whatever is living there. Though... Do we need to? If we found the treasure already? Sure, if we are going to live here, we need to at least ask all the ghosts and scary monsters to leave, but if we are not - maybe we can leave them alone?"
In response to the offer, Mrs. Thinn holds it up and examines the flower in the sunlight, then tapped her head a few times to cause a slot briefly open and soon after enclose about the flower stem once set into place. She gives Kairus a nod in approval and offered even a fist bump.
"I ain't freaking--!" Hun started to say in response to the suggestion becoming a gull. But then a thought hits him, or more accurately a reminder about the bridge and its questionable condition from afar, leaving him scratching at his chin and looking thoughtful. "... Well... Eh... there might be even more important or valuable treasure beyond that bridge to be honest. Perhaps even a magical artifact dedicated to the goddess beyond the bridge, if nothing else. And one worth a pretty penny if one didn't mind drawing 'her' ire... not that it takes much to do that anyways." He muses aloud, though the last bit comes out more as a mutter.
"... But all in all, it's not what I'd consider worth it considering we still got quite a bit of sailing ahead of us! Plus, I, uh... rather not sit in that throne, thank you very much!"He said with a huff, before pausing again and looking thoughtful. "... Then again, knowing Volo he'd want to take a crack at the place once he recovers, as I doubt he hasn't already heard about the temple. And... I doubt I'll be able to convince him to leave well enough alone."He admits as much with a frown in his voice, then looks up to the group.
"But with exception of Kromagnum here... maybe-..."He gestures over to Krodhen. "There's not much reason I can think of to try'n convince the rest of you to take that sorta risk in at least clearing up the dangers. Mr. Yully is on the verge of getting the treasure promised, you, Young Blue, seemed pretty done with this island slash land in general last I check, and Rogadan got his super shrooms knowledge already!"He said frankly. "So apart from going that extra mile to kill time 'till the next ship arrives, I... can't rightly ask more from ya. If need be should Volo does wish to explore the temple further, I'll be assisting him then. But as far as I'm concerned I'm happy enough to get that treasure and let that be conclusion of this rather strange little arrangement we had going up till now. But what say you all?"

Plus, I, uh... rather not sit in that throne, thank you very much!" He said with a huff, before pausing again and looking thoughtful. "... Then again, knowing Volo he'd want to take a crack at the place once he recovers, as I doubt he hasn't already heard about the temple. And... I doubt I'll be able to convince him to leave well enough alone." He admits as much with a frown in his voice, then looks up to the group.
"But with exception of Kromagnum here... maybe-..." He gestures over to Krodhen. "There's not much reason I can think of to try'n convince the rest of you to take that sorta risk in at least clearing up the dangers. Mr. Yully is on the verge of getting the treasure promised, you, Young Blue, seemed pretty done with this island slash land in general last I check, and Rogadan got his super shrooms knowledge already!" He said frankly.

Yulmiath looks a little sadly at his greataxe "Easy come, easy go, I guess. But there's still nothing I'd rather be swinging when the trouble starts."
Thinking on what Hun's asking, Yulmiath sighs, "I guess we'd be helping protect them young Tortles who venture up here looking looking to make a name if we ventured in further, right? But uh, emptying her treasure room first would be a big step towards making me and her square."
