Krodhen nods long when Kairus remembers that is has been a while since folk were living in this temple. "We can confirm it by asking Kwilgok, but I also remember the tortles mentioning it had been quite some time."
Continuing their exploration, Kairus and Yulmiath head into the room and begin looking around. The triton advances into the room without issue, but the same cannot be said about the dragonborn. Before they get to their intended destinations (far doors and clay urn, respectively), a nearly invisible glyph inscribed above the double doors lights up in a cold blue color and releases its energy.
DEX saving throw {DC 15} all around. Damage roll (half on a save): 23
As it becomes apparent that Hun missed the dangerous glyph in his examination of the double doors, the party members rise again and shake some frost off their bodies.
Yulmiath senses that something is wrong and ducks in the last minute. Rhogal reacts quickly to the dragonborn's reaction, but the same cannot be said of Krodhen. Despite not dodging the cold blast in time, Kairus is able to rely on his natural resistance to cold (Guardian of the Depths) to shrug off most of the damage. Mrs. Thinn seems little bothered by the cold, but her master gets the chills even after casting a reaction-quick spell (reference)! (Yulmiath takes 8 cold damage; Hun takes 8 cold damage; Mrs. Thinn takes 8 cold damage; Kairus takes 8 cold damage; Rhogal takes 8 cold damage; Krodhen takes 17 cold damage.)
After taking a moment to recompose themselves, Kairus and Yulmiath carry on with their intended investigations:
@Yulmiath: The urn is mundane and empty, and fails to satisfy your curiosity. You then turn to take a look around the room more generally and, despite its once-magnificent decoration, you do not seem too amused. The bed looks comfortable enough, the seashells on the walls remind you of the Sea Queen, as do the tentacled pillars, and the dome painted like the night sky is a nice change of theme in the temple's art style, but nothing strikes you as particularly interesting in this chamber.
@Kairus: What you may have interpreted as another set of double doors in the north wall of this chamber is, in actuality, two separate single doors. They are both wooden and simple, but a pane in each has been carved with a sea theme. The one of the left depicts a sunken treasure chest, while the one on the right displays crashing waves. After falling for another door-trap, you ensure that you are careful in your examination of these two smaller doors. They are not trapped.
"Definitely captain's quarters! Quite guarded for no reason."Kairus brushed off the ice crystals from his skin and a bit worse for wear proceeded to the door. "Oh... Two doors. Not one. Hm... Let me think... Somewhere behind these lovely living parts, are the caves with waves I can safely call "crashing". I bet the right door leads somewhere there. Not sure about the left door. Personal captain's belongings?" He definitely liked his idea about "captains quarters".
"Do not see any traps here. Yet again, we did not see that ice bomb coming either. Stay back, I'll try to open the left one."
And so he did - carefully pulled (then pushed if pulling did not work) the door with the treasure chest on it.

"Frick!"Hun shouts as he only just gets the Shiskabober out in time to deploy some kind of umbrella energy barrier. Though it's not nearly potent enough to absorb the blast, and in his haste, plenty of chill still left even him shuddering from the sudden chill, most appears to absorb into the spear before the fanned out tip snapped back into a single blade, dispelling the umbrella, but leaving the tip glowing an icy blue for a few seconds.
"I guess I stand fricking corrected! Ugh! Should've known better given how opulent that bed appeared even at a distance."He said as he took out a few tools and began mending Mrs. Thinn. "If I didn't know any better, I'd have to agree with young blue and say this was indeed the good captain or high priestess chambers."He comments and further agreed. As for Kairus' request, Hun needed not be told twice. Truth be told, he still hadn't even stepped beyond the threshold before the glyph went off. But with the warning, he'd step outside along with his construct at the very least to finish the spell and restore her to a better state.

Brushing some frost from his shoulders, Yulmiath suppresses a shiver.
"Just odd that you've a big nice house, and one day you just up and leave it for no reason. Guess no one wants to move into a trapped house though... Makes sense to me. Although, how come Kairus didn't set off the trap but I did? Is it a Triton thing? Weight maybe?"
Can the big dragonborn work it out for himself? Let's find out!
After checking the urn in the bedchamber, Yulmiath revisits the magical trap set above the door. He wonders about its specific trigger, and why he was the one to cause it to blast ice. Failing to come to an understanding, the dragonborn looks around at the party for answers.
Meanwhile, Rhogal is taking a close look at the gap beneath the bed. He finds a wooden statuette of an aquatic female form. The Snack Pack has learned enough about this temple to recognize Umberlee's form at first sight by now. The statuette is quite small and, hence, able to stand upright underneath the bed.
Now armed with a bit of magical cold at the very tip of his umbrella/shiskabober (for a few seconds at least), Hun takes a step away from the chamber and begins to perform some field repairs on Mrs. Thinn, her first experience receiving such treatment. She is a model patient. (Mrs. Thinn recovers 8 HP.)
It falls to Kairus to open the doors on the far wall. He starts with the one on the left, carved with the sunken treasure chest. This door opens into a vestibule where the owner of the bedchamber seemingly kept their personal belongings. Stone shelves stand against the bare stone walls, and two wooden chests rest in the middle of the floor. The shelves contain wooden statuettes of sea creatures, as well as four moldy books.
"Ha! I was right!"Kairus sounded as happy as he looked. "Two chests and many pretty carvings on the shelves. Little turtles in the village will be happy to get some."
He stepped inside to look at the statuettes. If there is one resembling a seahorse or a dolphin, he would take it to look closer and maybe keep it.
If nothing attacked him during the preliminary check-up (Perception: 26) Kairus would look outside and call others. "Where is the poking stick? There are two chests here to check." He had enough bolts now but still would prefer to keep them.
Hun shakes his head as the last finishing touches are put into place on Mrs. Thinn's replacement. "No. Well, mostly no. But simple answer is because of the other necklace he's been toting about."He explained. "But unlike crusher trap, this one was far more sensitive I suspect, in that the trigger mechanism focused around the door frame and not as wide an area as the crusher."
"As for their disappearance of former inhabitants, mayhaps it could very well be that they simply left. Chult isn't too far from here, and originally as I understood it, they were a victim of circumstances when their ship -- like so many we saw towards the north end -- crashed upon the island. Then again, mayhaps we'll find the source of their sudden departure elsewhere in the temple in due time. I'd say pray that it is the former, but... eh..." With that, Hun took out his goggles and began fussing with them in preparation(ritual casting) of their magic detector function once more.

After finishing his work on Mrs. Thinn, Hun stays back to answer Yulmiath's questions or react to his theories. As he talks, the kobold begins to slowly wind up his magic detector.
In the center of the room, Rhogal uses his staff to collect the statuette he spotted beneath the bed. Despite his hesitation, the object comes to him easily and proves to not be rigged in any way. The wooden effigy is simple but well made. The druid's examination only reveals it might sell for a small price to either the residents of Ahoyhoy or some off-island collector (worth 5gp.)
Meanwhile, Kairus continues to look into the personal vestibule he uncovered. The animals depicted in the many statuettes on the shelves vary quite a bit: sharks, sea turtles, dolphins, octopi, a variety of fish, eels, sea horses, whales, and even an urchin. These seem to carry less value than the depiction of Umberlee herself (each worth 2gp.) Next, leafing through the four books on the shelves, Kairus determines them to be travel logs for the ship that carried the Umberlee faithful to the Snout of Omgar, the B*tch Queen. They are quite moldy and many pages are now lost to time, but these old logbooks seem to chronicle the ship’s voyages. Should they find an interested buyer in a port city, these logs may hold some historical value (worth 25gp). The triton's look-about also spots no cords, needles, magical triggers, or any other signs that the two chests have been trapped. Perhaps a poke with a stick is still in order, but all seems to be "above board" in this small room. That said, the chests are obviously locked.
By then, Hun's casting concludes. A cursory look about fails to reveal any source of magic in the bedchamber or the vestibule with the chests. Even in the hallway, only the sparkly gem at the end shows a magical sheen. The orb at the east end of the hall is made of crystal, is 1 foot in diameter, sheds bright light in a 30-foot radius plus dim light for an additional 30 feet, and radiates an aura of conjuration magic.
"So it's because he's Umberlee's special boy then?"
Yulmiath rubs his chin for a moment in thought, but mostly just for show. Don't want to embarrass yourself in front of the big brains!
"Hmmm. Guess that makes sense to me, might be useful too. Although how do you feel about being our canary, Kairus?"
Walking closer to the side room, Yulmiath readies his trusty crowbar to provide any extra persuasion necessary to convince the chests to open, but holds back from any attempt until Hun has least had an opportunity to tinker with them first.
"Not sure what this "canary" is, but as long as it's not meat in the sup, I'm game."
It looked like, though, Hun was busy checking the halls and general surroundings and Yulmiath dropped the pocking stick somewhere inside the temple. Kairus shrugged, got out one of the bolts, and pocked both chests with that short replacement of 10" poll.
Once (if!) it was confirmed neither of the chests is a mimic, he let the professional lock-busters do their thing.
"Ah, you know, miners put a canary down a new mine before they go in... Seems a bit cruel really, how much ore can a canary be expected to mine, its only a little bird and probably can't lift a pickaxe and a canary sized pickaxe is probably next to useless... Anyway, you can do the same for us, sort of. Go in ahead, check for any traps we might miss and then we'll follow on?"
"Don't think I will mine more than your canary,"very seriously answered Kairus while watching Yulmiath working. "So, don't put me in the mines. As for traps - sure thing. Kind of doing it anyway? Now, don't stall and open this thing up!"
Yul encourages Kairus to take point as inspector-chief for the Snack Pack and, despite a botched analogy, the triton seems to welcome the suggestion. In return, Kairus encourages Yulmiath to rip apart the chests at the seam using his trusty crowbar, but it looks like the dragonborn's muscles are still feeling a bit cold from the magical ice blast from a dozen minutes ago or so.
The first swing is picture-perfect (whatever that means in this world), deftly striking the lock upward and swinging the chest open in a single motion. The second swing is more brutish than anything else. It opens a coconut-sized hole on the side of the chest, making it possible for someone to reach inside for its contents, albeit awkwardly.
It is plain to see what is inside the first chest: five outfits of [item]clothes, traveler's;traveler’s clothes[item] sized for a large humanoid female. The leather and fabric in these outfits has kept well. They are more resistant than a villager's day-to-day attire, but not quite gala worthy. They all display a mix of brown, blues, and greens. One of them is quite flowy.
"Being careful is important, and the many traps in this place justify it, but I'm getting tired of hesitating around wooden chests,"Krodhen exclaims while reaching inside the second one blindly. He pulls out from the chest some priestly vestments befitting a cleric of Umberlee and eight iron keys of different shapes and sizes, all set on a single key-ring. Krodhen shows his finding around, but only lets out a "Hmm.."
"The keys? From the rooms or the chests we already broke?"The question was mostly rhetorical. Yulmiath could not possibly know. Not to mention, so far, no doors needed any keys and the chests were already opened. But just in case Kairus added. "Let's keep the key and leave the clothes. Doubt it will fit turtles. But I would take figurines for younglings and those journals too. I bet Hun's human would love to get those books."
Kairus scooped all the figurines and the books into the backpack. Keys he kept closer (is entrusted with them). "Let's check the other door?"
He walked out and tried to pull/push the door with the waves on it.
