(OOC: I actually looked this up last week. Cranes have thin tongues that can stick straight out of their beaks. It looks weird.)
@Yulmiath: Though hilly, the area you are in is fairly open. You have no trouble finding your two handaxes.
The group seems eager to give chase to the last Eblis, especially after Rhogal brings the far away hut to their attention. Yulmiath needs some convincing, but the majority rules in the end. Krodhen leads the way while trying to examine how large the crude hut may be, and soon spots a handful of them, not just the one. Kairus notes that they seem to be made of grass and reeds bunched together. Hun also spots some large ground nests in addition to the huts.
No birds are out in the open, at least not at first. Based on sound alone, the group quickly determines that the last Eblis has housed itself inside one of the crude huts. "Go away," it screams from an unseen spot.
Assuming that it is likely this is the only one left, Krodhen quietly says to the others "Killing it might not be the best option....better to see if it has info that might be of use, and maybe it will bargain for its life with whatever treasure it has"

Realising he might need the bird to speak some more, Yulmiath tries to goad it.

With the reminder spoken, Hun looks as if he'd just been splashed with a bucket of cold water for a moment or two, before then scowling and nodding curtly in agreement. (OOC: Any chance to recover a couple of crossbow bolts?)
"I would not believe a word this creature is about to say." Kairus left others to talk to the remaining bird and went around the "village" checking every hut for whatever they could hold.
(OOC: It might not have been clear from my previous post, but it took some time for the party to arrive at these huts, and the retreating Eblis clearly had some time before the party arrived.)
Krodhen proposes that the party should avoid killing this last bird. Yulmiath seems to agree, choosing to talk to the crane first even though the pirate does not rule out a bit of extortion. As the dragonborn approaches the hut inside which he is sure the bird is hiding, Kairus warns the party about taking anything the Eblis says at face values. Despite the bard's warning, Hun doubles down on Yulmiath's approach and adds his own bit of intimidation to the conversation. After a few more moments of silence, the bird's only answer to the dragonborn's and kobold's questions is another nasal "Go away!" This time, however, the answer is accompanied by the sound of something being thrown through the air and landing with several small clings. A leather purse lands just outside the hut and within the party's field of view. There is some blood on the leather pouch.
While the group deals with the bird, Kairus walks about the area peeking into a couple of huts and looking over a nest or two. The nests are empty but messy, with reeds and twigs spread about a bit as if recently mishandled. The same can be said about the first hut. The second hut houses some leather and fabric goods, such as tattered clothing, boots, and belts. There are some shiny rocks in there too, as well as a few seemingly random items: a parchment tube, a glass orb, and an unlit lamp.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Making his way over to the pouch Yul kneels beside it, being sure to ensure he faces the direction the pouch was thrown from. Tipping the contents of the pouch onto the ground, Yul gives them a closer look.
(OOC Using the above check to see if the pouch does contain coin or if its an illusion to trick the party. Assuming the pouch does contain any amount of coin, or that he believes it contains coins, Yul will do a quick count of the contents before getting the coins back in the pouch and tying it to his belt. He'd be pretty satisified at that point and liekly wouldn't want to press on with attacking the bird. If he's been tricked and realises it, Yul will move closer to the hut he believes the Eblis to hiding in and will expend his fire breath attack on it. It's made of dried reeds and grass and timber right? Should burn up a treat!)
Meanwhile, Kairus collected all "valuables": particularly shiny rocks could make a good trade and simply look pretty, and tube, orb and lamp can be useful (Hun definitely would find the way to use it). With that riches, he returned to the "negotiation table".
While Yulmiath checks out the pouch, Hun pulls out a card and studies it for a moment. Anyone that tries to look at see some strange nonsensical scribbling beneath word in common that read: "Alignment" None of it seems to give the Kobold much comfort, as the scowl only deepened while pocketing the card once more. When Kairus returns with his valuables, and if offered the tube, orb, and lamp, Hun's mood certainly brightens just a smidge while taking a few moments to give them a once over.
After which, its into the bag of holding for those items gifted to him; but, he is sure to nod a sharp approval to the triton. But his attention would eventually return to the bird negotiations, if not due to a fire, then simply out of remembrance of a lack of answers. In the less fire orientated case, Hun seems hesitant to press on with Yul looking satisfied enough with the offering. But in the end, the Kobold side eyes the Half Orc and asks, "Well, you heard Young Blue earlier, and he hasn't exactly been forth coming with an admittance or denial. Should we still leave it be to terrorize us or the islanders later?" He asks more of the Half-Orc than anyone.

Hun could sure have the items. The only one that Kairus would be able to use was the lamp, but the kobold could probably modify it into something more interesting too. He kept a few shiny stones, though.
"I did not see anyone else in other huts. Though it does look as if someone was tearing the nests apart. What I mean, there are no people to save. We can let the last bird go. Did the bird say anything about humans we are looking for? Or anything useful at all?"
While Hun puts up no resistance regarding the stones, assuming Kairus even alludes to acquiring those as well, the matter of letting the bird go gets an immediate frowning and giving Kairus a 'Duuude... C'mon...'sort of look. Yet rather than press, he'll glance over to Krodhen still meaning to guage his reaction, before turning to Kairus again and shaking his head. "No. Just the same line about having us 'Go Away'. I could be wrong, but I think the one that did the most talking earlier was the only brains of their little operations." He sighs. "Which makes it a bit harder to justify bother with it further, or.. killing it.... THOUGH! I think we should go back for those other ones and carving up one if there's time."

Yulmiath reacts first and approaches the pouch. Turning it upside down and spending the time to count its contents, the dragonborn finds 18gp. Having finally found his way into some coin, the pirate loops the pouch onto his belt and notifies his companions that he is happy to move onward.
Hun doesn't seem ready to let the matter go, however, even after Kairus reports on the lack of prisoners or victims in need of rescuing. The ship mates go back and forth for a bit, hoping either Krodhen or Yulmiath can add to the decision-making process.
@Hun & @Kairus: The closed parchment tube contains a small section of a floorplan for a temple, castle, or some other structure. It is hard to tell since most of the parchment is destroyed. The glass orb is about the size of a large marble. it seems to be filled with moving white smoke. The lamp is quite the curious contraption. Instead of a candle holder inside, it has a mechanical canary in its center, long defunct.
Meanwhile, Rhogal distracts himself with a quick mushroom search. Just as lucky as before, the dwarf now comes across a lactarius indigo specimen near one of the Eblis' nests. It might not exactly be "sea-hardy", but its dark blue coloration sure reminds the traveling druid of the deep sea. What's more, this is an edible fungus and there are more of it around! Did someone say Eblis au champignon?
