Eeyal's contribution to the canoe discussion is pointed at Yulmiath initially: "That's why I said it depended on how far we go in this cave delving trek. If you are satisfied with one or two caves, we may only need the canoe to cross the river back toward Ahoyhoy. If you want to go exploring the caves that are even farther south or east, then we are bound to find much more need of a canoe."Turning to Hun and Kairus, she adds: "If you say it is time to hide the canoe, then it is time to do it. There are mounds of rocks we can use for this purpose and it wouldn't be too bad of an idea to set camp next to one of these anyhow. I can set a stick to serve as a marker for our return. IT should be conspicuous enogh."
With that, the group advances toward the nearest cave until night falls. You are close enough to the first entrance that reaching it in the morning would simply be a matter of leaving camp and walking some 10 or so minutes toward the entrance. A mound of loose volcanic rocks serves as a wall on one of the sides of tonight's camp. Rearranging it a bit, the canoe can be safely hidden for now. Eeyal marks the mound as she said she would. She puts her tools to good use: the stick is nice and smooth, and almost perfectly rectangular.
You manage to scrounge together enough materials for a small fire that burns for no more than an hour. It is enough to warm up dinner, however, so at least some comfort is had. After some nightly conversations and warm rations, the group begins their rest/watch cycle.
(OOC: Everyone should deduct onw ration from their inventory, please.)
Eeyal takes the first shift, feeling a bit guilty for insisting to guide the group at a somewhat brisk pace over the mountain pass. What she sees or doesn't over the next couple of hours is, well, for her eyes only. All that you know is that, when it comes the time to wake Kairus up for his shift, Eeyal says that all is calm.
@Kairus: Once you are sure that everyone is sleeping, you can't resist walking over to the cave entrance and having a look. You even go a few yards in just to have a peek. You see a tunnel that leads into at least three other tunnels, suggesting that the cave has a labyrinthine quality to it. You do not see any sign of life in there, but you are only looking at the very first portion of the cave, so your observation might not be conclusive. Once satisfied, you return to camp and finish your watch.
@Hun: The blue bard wakes you in the middle of the night and you recall why you hate watches. Instead, you send Mr. Thicc out and go back to sleep. You won't be getting a report until morning and, even then, only if strictly necessary. For now, all the group can tell is that Mr. Thicc's active watch goes by without the construct raising any alarms.
@Yulmiath: The construct had been instructed to request you to join him in the last watch. The first hour goes by and the sun begins to rise. You are absurdly sleepy still, something that keeps happening whenever you are on watch. You are suddenly awoken by the screeching sound of hungry reptiles approaching. You instinctively look up, given that most threats in this island seem to have wings, and is indeed greeted by a group of Pteranodons. There are eight of them. Mr. Thicc helps you raise the alarm.

"How has this happened again!"
Chastising himself for letting the creatures of the island sneak up on him night after night. Yulmiath pushes forward towards the flying lizards (CW,48), at least trying to make himself a bigger target for them and distract them from his crewmates.
"C'mon you flying beasties, come get a taste!"
Tightening his grip on the handle of his greataxe, he waits until one of the lizards comes close enough for a swing.
With a clapping of metallic hands and stomping of of feet, Mr. Thicc certainly gets Hun's attention if nothing else! And the moment Hun lays eyes on the distant creatures, if not hear them flapping and noise making off in the distance, Hun groans and dons his shield while climbing to his feet. "Looks like Breakfast decided to deliver itself to us, boys and girls! Look alive and get ready!" He called out as both he and Mr. Thicc followed a little ways after the Dragonborn.
Movement(Hun): Stand up, and move to DB-43.
Action(Hun): Don Shield.
Movement(Mr. Thicc): To DB-44. (standing up, if not already having done so)
"With all the terrors in the skies, I think I warming ta the sea! Xyleria!" Rhogal says after he stumbles out, point to the sky and cries out his spell to the nearest flying creature.
As the alarm is raised, Krodhen is awake and to his feet in a flash (1/2 movement used), grabbing his shield and, after seeing the aerial attackers he pulls out his sword and takes up a defensive posture to see how the beast react (Dodge Action) and will attempt to strike as a reaction should he be targeted

Awaken and now up, Krodhen quickly arms himself and walks out of the tent he has been sharing with Eeyal {DA-39}. Applying a similar strategy he has perfected in previous scuffles with flying creatures, the paladin assumes a defensive position and waits for an opportunity to attack.
Mr. Thicc enters a separate tent and wakes Hun. The kobold takes the time to strap his shield to his arm and then walks out of the tent {DB-43}. Mr. Thicc assumes a position next to his master {DB-44} and prepares to defend as needed.
Being suddenly awake and already being prone, Eeyal instinctively retracts into her shell (Shell Defense) while still being inside the tent {DC-37}.
-> Eeyal gains a +4 bonus to AC, has advantage on STR and CON saving throws, disadvantage on DEX saving throws, can't take reactions, remains prone, and can't move.
Rhogal stumbles out of his tent {CZ-42} and takes a more aggressive stance relative to his companions. Relying on his necrotic spores once again, the dwarf infects the nearest threatening creature. Its wings go dark but fall short of completely shriveling. (Pteranodon#4 takes 7 necrotic damage.)
Already out in the open {DB-45} and chastising himself for not spotting the flying reptiles from miles away, Yulmiathprepares for their inevitable attack.

And attack they do. These flying reptiles have wingspans of 15 to 20 feet and have no teeth, instead using its sharp beak to stab prey too large to swallow with one gulp.

Yulmiath pays the price for not spotting the aerial threat as two of the creatures swoop in and stab the dragonborn with their sharp mouth parts. (Yulmiath takes 9 piercing damage.)
Hun's and Mr. Thicc's defensive combo works well, with the automaton's plating and the kobold's shield preventing all damage the duo would have taken. The same can be said about Krodhen, though the half-orc had to rely on his armor.
Rhogal doesn't duck quickly enough to avoid the first passing enemy, but succeeds in preventing a second one from piercing him (Rhogal takes 6 piercing damage.)
Ready for the attack, Yulmiath lets his greataxe come down on the first pteranodon to approach. The creature also pays the price for engaging the dragonborn. (Pteranodon#1 takes 7 slashing damage.)
While others might have been waiting on an opportunity to strike back, the beats' movements are a bit too erratic (they do not trigger opportunity attacks.) Furthermore, many of the Pteranodon stay close to camp after the attack, flying in place for now, some 5 to 10ft off the ground, and flapping their wings on the Snack Packers' faces.
(Karius is up next. He is prone and inside a tent. Walking outside will immediately put him within melee range of four pteranodons.)

Kairus was so out of his element in this heat, he was sleeping in a tent and overslept the attack. But eventually, the noise proved to be more than a dream and woke up even him to the view of at least four quite ugly attackers.
Before crawling out, Kairus picked up his cittern and tried to clear the way out:
Sleep 2nd lvl for 35 on those four pteranodons. (And remains in the tent waiting for the effect). From the tent, the triton tried to assess the battlefield.
"Breakfast came early today, save a good chank for me, Yul!" Maybe not the best line, but Kairus just woke up.
Despite being the last one to rise, Kairus springs into action almost immediately. Noticing something treacherous waits for him just outside the tent, the bard initiates a magical lullaby that drops two Pteranodons from the air, including the one Rhogal had damaged.
The already damaged creature falls from a high enough altitude for it to be a problem:
-> Fall damage roll: 5 (4)
The damaged creature remains on the ground but is now awake. The other pteranodon who fell asleep is also prone on the ground. (Pteranodon#4 takes 4 bludgeoning damage.)

Meanwhile, Hun sets his gaze skyward once more, and after some quick calculations, hefted his Yklwa up like a javelin.
"Rocket Shishkababober! ACTIVATE!"He cried out! With that, hidden compartments along the edge pop open just as Hun launched the spear. But where his own strength wouldn't get it far, some combination of guidance system and hidden mechanism spewing from the port an aerosol propellent has the spear flying far further with lethal intent! Hit or miss, the spear would come flying right back to Hun's hand.

After communicating some instructions to Mr. Thicc, Hun reveals a gas-powered, self-aiming attachment to his spear-like weapon and launches it at one of the airborne enemies. The construct focuses his attack on the conscious but prone reptile a few feet in front of him. Unfortunately, both master and robot fail to land a blow. While Mr. Thicc misjudges the hardness of the pteranodon's hide, Hun finds that his self-aiming mechanism may need some further optimization.
