Effulgyn thinks of the quest to Kindermarsh and of his desire to return home immediately after finishing the quest. He felt in his heart that his brothers were okay, but it wouldn’t hurt to check on them. After all it had been many months since he’d last seen them—or any of his friends at home, for that matter. Exploring these burial grounds would serve neither purpose.
Yet… if he were not a curious halfling, he would never have gone to the Academy to begin with. And the sight of these ancient ruins, the questions they elicit in his young mind, and the pure sense of adventure are enough.
“All right lads, let’s have our fill of this place then. But let’s keep our heads?”
He snaps his fingers and a stepladder appears beside him, allowing him to descend from the cart without having to stretch and jump as he had before.
He feeds Asterix a carrot, and covers her blinders so she’ll take a nap and not wander. Then he catches up with the others.
Fergmakes his way over to one of the ancient stones closest to the flowers and with his hand, removes some moss to see if there are any words or glyphs or anything at all really to be seen. In doing so, he clearly sees that something is etched in the stone, but it is not clear what--the carving is so old it is practically indistinguishable. Thinking back to his history lessons at The Academy he knows that Stoacia was founded on ancient, prosperous land with many races of beast and man prospering--it is unclear what type of burial ground this might be, then, from his knowledge.
Meanwhile Finis looking around, also trying to think of what kind of burial ground this might be but taking a slightly different approach. He thinks about the size of the stones and the fact that they're in a relatively new forest that was once likely just a field, quite far from mountains or water. Unlikely dwarven. The stones are old, but lacking the ornamental properties of an elven grave, so unlikely elven. They are too tall for halflings or gnomes and too small for orcs or dragonborn. Being the only remaining human in the party, he feels fairly confident that this must be a human graveyard, though unlike any he has seen before.

“Arc,” says Effulgyn, “what say we look within the structure in the back over there?,” and if Arc is willing, Effulgyn moves with him toward Ferg and the building at the top of the map as the step ladder disappears behind him. Effulgyn is a bit superstitious and will avoid walking directly over anything that looks like a grave.
Ferg calls to Effulgyn, "Effy can you help me with this moss? I can't seem to make out if it is interesting in our quest or not. I don't find it interesting myself but I was wondering if you see anything of interest in it." (OOC: Ferg's original history roll was weak but that doesn't reflect necessarily on understanding the moss. Can Effulgyn give help on something? Either the nature roll or the history roll in order to understand the moss better? )
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ferg appreciates Effulygyn's help and askes several questions about the plants and moss: If this is help to the history check then: 24 if nature then -2 off that.
Arcand Effulgynwalk over to the stone Ferg is examining. It's about three feet tall--so just about as tall as Effulgyn, and slightly shorter than Ferg. Arc, being almost twice as tall, needs to crouch over in order to truly examine the moss. (OOC here is where I see you standing).
The moss is thick and soft, warm from the sun as you touch it. Fergyou get the distinct impression that this moss has been growing for a long, long time. Decades, maybe longer. Are you removing any more to be able to see some writing on the stone? Or are you letting the rest stay?
Fergand Arc begin to remove the moss in clumps, literally tearing it from its roots. It's so old and thick that the underside feels cool to the touch. Ferg, with your familiarity with nature, you get the impression that the moss doesn't like being removed from the rock but by the time you realize it, the face of that stone is clear and you can now make out all of the carvings.
OOC Has Fin moved at all or is he standing by? Is Parson flying around?

Parson is still flying above. (OOC: Are we supposed to understand what we are seeing or do we need to roll another check of some kind? I would go ahead and roll history or such but we have been rolling a lot already so I thought I would ask. )
I will say that with your strong rolls so far you know that there is nothing particularly significant about the carvings on the stone that you're looking at. It's just old, and, judging by the moss, has been quite undisturbed for quite some time. From here on out, I'll let you know if there is more to be gained through other checks.

Findoes a tour of the stone artifacts from the right hand side. He is standing at one that is wide and thin--it is about 12 feet across from end to end, and has some odd angles to it, almost like it was once a larger structure and this is all that remains. He has been removing moss as the others had, and can see that it is as elaborately decorated as the one Ferg, Arcand Effulgyn are at, featuring the same swirly carvings. To Fin, they look like nature scenes (trees, clouds, flowers) that remind him of druid-lore he'd heard since coming to Stoacia. (Druids are uncommon in Stoacia, or in The Commons at least, but virtually nonexistent anywhere else).
Parsonmeanwhile has been flying casual circles around the clearing, looking into the trees and scanning for movement. So far, he hasn't seen anything other than the occasional rustling of a leaf or one of the pretty yellow flowers near the structures but with his keen hearing, he keeps circling back to the trees near Arc--there seems to be more rustling there, and for reasons he can't otherwise identify.
OOC the scene looks like this-- I have labeled the structures 1 through 7 to make it easier for you all to visualize. Parson is the grey triangle about 10 feet from Arc.

Ferg immediately tells the other "Hey everyone, keep an eye out, Parson has keen hearing and there seems to be some thing moving in the trees over this way." He points past Arc to the trees.
