The descent without climbing equipment would have been treacherous; condensation and thin mucous-like slime makes the footing insecure. After six or seven minutes, however, the four of you stand on level ground and look eastward down a narrow, natural tunnel. The temperature is notably cooler here, and the humidity is notably higher. As you follow the passageway--which frequently varies in width and height--you can discern that you are descending gradually. What began as a small rivulet of water at the beginning of this tunnel has slowly increased into a miniature stream as more and more little rivulets of water join forces with it and flow downhill in the direction you are heading. The stream is quite small (a few feet wide in a few places and never more than an inch or two deep), but it makes your travel slow because it causes the rocky ground to become very slippery. More than once you steady yourselves by placing a hand on the damp tunnel walls.
After traveling for thirty or forty minutes, you come to a portion of the tunnel that contains a few small ledges that you must descend. You descend the first ledge carefully and walk another eight or ninety feet to the second ledge. The tunnel floor is extremely slippery here, and the small, shallow stream has now become wider. As the four of you gauge the next ledge you must descend, you hear the sound of footsteps coming from behind you. This is surprising because you're certain you haven't passed by any passageways that join the one you're currently in.

NOTE: The slimy water, denoted in blue, is difficult terrain. The party is traveling from left (west) to right (east).

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rubies eyes go wide when she hears the footsteps and looks at her three companions to make sure they all heard it too. Ruby also goes West with Friar and stops on the dry land area. She concentrates to hear if she can tell the footsteps are coming towards them or away and if they are walking normally or fast or trying to be silent.
Cautiously, the four of you backtrack to the nearest piece of dry ground. The sound of footsteps to the west is joined by the sound of a voice. Filled with hissing sounds and soft screeches, it's no language you've ever heard. Although you hear one voice, you hear many footsteps. You imagine that whoever is approaching is preparing to descend that first ledge to the west of you.
Updated map (please let me know if your character should be repositioned):
Ruby slinks along the wall, remaining silent and keeping her footing secure the entire way. Upon reaching her destination, she peers through the darkness and sees three reptilian humanoids. Part of the tunnel wall juts out just enough to keep Ruby from seeing if there are additional creatures behind these three. Standing perfectly still against the tunnel wall, Ruby, thus far, is undetected. She doubts, however, that she will remain so much longer...

Updated map:
Friar moves closer to the wall, keeping an eye on Ruby while getting a firm grip on his war hammer
"Walking giant lizards?" Copper asks. "They could have come through the water. They may have the advantage on this slippery surface."
He looks further east.
"There was more space in the chamber ahead that was dry ground. If they're hostile, we'd be able to face them with Friar and I shoulder to shoulder and the two of you behind us," he says as he looks at the position they're in now. "Here, we might be only able to handle them one at a time depending on how they approach."
If the others are in agreement, he'll head east as far as he can go. If they aren't he'll slide his shield into place and wait for the lizards to arrive.
As Ruby makes her way toward the others, the reptilian creatures round the corner and have a view of the four of you. Their reaction is abrupt, chaotic, and dripping with aggression. Words are exchanged in their bizarre reptilian tongue, longswords are drawn by those who possess them, and all of them stride toward you. Their clawed feet seem to ensure their solid footing on the cave floor. You see at least ten of them, but more could be coming.
Round 1 has begun, the reptilian humanoids have moved and taken their action. All players may act in any order.
Ruby raises her shortbow, and before letting an arrow loose, she says to Copper, “If you want to fall back, let me know, I’ll follow your lead. In the meantime, let’s lose these ugly things.” And she lets her arrow fly towards lizardthing #1 Attack: 9 Damage: 7
Copper watches the speed the lizard creatures are approaching at and realizes they won't make it to the other cavern before being caught on the slippery wet rock portion of the tunnel. They'll need to hold their ground here.
"We'll hold here," Copper says. "Get behind us Ruby and keep those arrows flying."
He slips out his spear from across his back, and exchanging places with Ruby so that he can step forward into his throw, he hurls it at the lead lizard creature (#1).
Copper then concentrates for a moment on his shield and his oath to the clan, and a shimmering field of energy wraps itself around him.
Movement: 5' closer to the reptiles but still on dry ground
The twang of Ruby's bow reverberates through the tunnel; so too does the sound of her arrow ricocheting off the lizard creature's breastplate. The creature has little time to savor Ruby's ineffective shot, for a moment later Copper's spear pierces it just below its left collarbone. The lizard creature fills the air with an eerie hiss.
Douth's spell then dazzles everyone's eyes, but the beam of light streaks over the head of its intended target.
The horde of lizard creatures clamber toward the four of you, their clawed feet assuring that a few of them will cover enough ground for their blades and teeth to be a threat. The first creature levels two swings of its longsword at Friar...
Longsword attack 1: 5 for 6 slashing damage
Longsword attack 2: 17 for 4 slashing damage
The next two creatures converge on Copper; one wields a longsword (#2), but the other (#3) attacks with claws and teeth...
Longsword attack 1: 13 for 10 slashing damage
Longsword attack 2: 7 for 3 slashing damage
Claw attack 1: 16 Damage: 4
Claw attack 2: 16 Damage: 5
Bite attack: 9 Damage: 5
The remaining monsters, hissing and screeching, are immediately behind the leaders of the attack.
(Sorry for the delay, everyone.)

Well she is glad she can still hear at least.
Copper frowns at the sound of the footsteps.
"We missed an opening or a secret door," he says quietly. "That's a rookie mistake when investigating."
He looks back at the way they've come and the slippery ground and then looks where they were going and down the 5' drop.
"The ground looks drier that way," Copper says again quietly. "I'd prefer to meet whomever is coming with a solid surface beneath my feet."
