The high elf has the grace to look a bit sheepish as he joins the halfling by the coffins. "Sorry," he says. "Guess I swung too hard. I sincerely hope no one answers your question by the way." He looks down at the lid of the coffin with distaste.
This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

Pru sighs and decides to risk it. She nods at Aranor’s sword and then the coffin. She holds up three fingers and starts closing them one at a time, counting down to zero. Once all the fingers are down she flips open the coffin lid.
Beryl stands ready to help clear the world of one more undead being, if necessary. And if not, to maybe burn a body to prevent an undead addition to the world.
"This is just a warm-up until we find the necromancer," she whispers. "And living children, I hope."
As the lid flips open, you hold fast. Inside lay the lifeless body of a female child of early teen years. She is dressed in everyday common garb, dirty and soiled. Her red hair is matted to her freckled face. There's a massive blood stain on her top as if it's hiding a wound. The dirt on her face has clean streaks where tears once flowed. The young girl belongs to someone, but she is not a match of the description of the youngling that you are looking for.
Pru looks on with concern as Beryl checks the body.
"She was killed and then thrown in here," Pru says then looks at the other coffins. "Is this just somewhere to keep bodies until the necromancer has a use for them?"
Pru nods at Kaladin and Aranor and gestures at the next two coffins on the right.
"Let's check these ones too."
Pru flips open the lid of the first one and if nothing animated jumps out, opens the third one as well.
The high elf stares down at the girl's body with a mixture of pity for the young life lost and anger at the evil of their quarry. He shakes his head sadly as he helps Pru open the last two coffins. Hopefully, the children they seek are not to be found inside them.
"Her body was treated with more reverence than the bodies of the bandits we discovered," Aranor points out. "That would make sense if he planned on using her remains in some way later."
The other two coffins also contain the bodies of young girls. Both dressed in the same manner and bearing the same wounds. Their dress looks common enough, that no one would seem to miss them, other than their parents. As if it was royalty, there should would have been an army looking for them and the news probably would have made it across the realm.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Pru raises an eyebrow at the very old corpses.
"Did the necromancer forget about these ones?" Pru asks. "Or they're just not picky about whether they've got access to fresh or old ones?"
(OOC - They've opened all the coffins now, yes? Did they find the source of the smell yet? Was it the young girls or something else? Thinking decades old bodies would either be mummified or skeletons.)
Pru turns her attention to the door that was between the two sets of coffins and takes a quick look for traps.
Perception: 23
"What do we do with these bodies?" Pru asks as she checks the door. "They were somebody's daughters."
"I think cremation is a good idea. They're already dead, and I think preventing them from becoming undead is a mercy." Beryl uses Produce Flame and does the honors with respect and care.

Pru's knock goes unanswered. But does that mean no ones home? Or is the occupant yet to occupy?

"Oh crap."
Beryl checks if she's completely dead, and if so how long.

Again, these two young girls are not Sophia.
Pru looks down at the two dead young girls, biting her lip almost enough to draw blood.
"Why are they all young girls?" Pru asks, thinking about the street urchins she hung out with years ago.
She then tries to create the dancing lights again to test what's going on with her magic harmonics.
"I guess we might as well check those ones next," Pru says pointing at the coffins to the left of the doorway.
The lights dance very dim. They give off enough to match that of the torch.
Aranor walks over to the other coffins and lifts the lids, peering down inside.

The remaining coffins contain decades old decomposed bodies.

"What do we do with these bodies?" Pru asks as she checks the door. "They were somebody's daughters."
All of the coffins have been opened. The smell is coming from the girls as well as the dead bandit. More so the bandit.
You search the door and the levers on either side, you can't detect anything out of the norm.
Pru raises her hands and shrugs as she turns from the door and the levers.
"Last time we just tried to push buttons didn't work out too well," Pru says. "But I don't see any way to open the door otherwise."
She does pause and try pushing the door and pulling the door first to see if it will just open without involving the levers.
If that doesn't work, she'll put her hand on the lever to the right of the door but will wait for the others to chime in before pulling it.
"We could cremate the bodies," Aranor suggests. "It would certainly help with the smell."
He walks over to where Pru is pushing at the door. "May as well," he shrugs, gesturing to the lever.
