Two drops of blood fall from Val's finger, leaving a small, glistening circle on the ground. After a while of waiting and still no sign of anything, he cuts a little deeper (1 hp). A glistening gash in his finger releases a line of crimson. It drips a little heavier like rain falling from a disturbed leaf after a rain shower. The cousins wait, looking and listening. Still nothing.
Evy makes small talk while Val bleeds. “You don’t think when she said ‘demogorgon’ that she meant Demogorgon, Prince of Demons, the Sibilant Beast, and Master of the Spiraling Depths… do you? Because we might be out of our depth if that’s the case.”

Val has no idea what Evy is talking about. He is not the learned type, though he might try fake it every now and then. As he lets his blood continue dropping on the floor, he absentmindedly answers: "Hmm.. Yeah, sure... white not."The answer barely makes sense given Evy's question, if at all.
-> Letting the blood flow for another 4 HP (total of 5 HP dedicated to this "summoning".)
Just before Val's ears begin to pick up the sound of approaching — running — footsteps, Evy's dagger starts to tingle in the cousins' minds. Val looks over Evy's shoulder and then nods in that direction. A ways off, not yet visible because of the trees, something is running in your direction.
She nods in acknowledgment of his signal. “I guess we can’t all be interested in the organizational structure of demonic governing,” Evy says quietly, pushing Val lightly and moving the opposite direction to put 30’ between her and Val, and sidling up to a tree or something for cover.
She whispers something and an image flickers into place where the spilled blood is, of a person (not Val, some tavern person they met once) bleeding. She motions for Val to move away, if he has not.
The sound of running footsteps grows louder. The waiting, along with the growing warning from Evy's dagger, and accented with your imaginations, causes dread to blossom in your guts. Finally, you see from your hidden positions (behind trees) a humanoid creature approaching. It appears to be the size of a human or elf, but its head is strangely shaped. The closer it gets, the more confusing it appears. It looks like it has some kind of beak or ... You're not sure what. Finally, it barrels forward toward the illusion of the bleeding tavern person. It practically springs onto the illusion. At the last minute, its elongated head explodes outward like some kind of monstrous blooming flower. The petals close onto the false person, discovering its folly. It whips its head around, its clawed hands splayed menacingly. Now, you can see: Its head does open like a flower. Its face is like a horrible flower with a gaping mouth at the center and sharp teeth inside every petal.

OOC: Does Val's readied attack trigger, perhaps with some hand-waving regarding movement? If so, here's a roll taking into account the "While in the Upside Down, it works as a +4 greatsword" clause:
Whether or not the readied attack triggers, Val zooms forward with his blade in hand, his frustration with the long hunt building up. "That's an ugly key!" (Taking a full turn here, yes?)
-> Initiative roll: 12
-> Bonus action: Rage
-> Action: Attack vs. Flowerhead: Attack: 11 Damage: 13
As you all moved away from the illusion, you're not within melee. Though, I'd say with what happened, you all can act first. I'll use your first attack rolled. Evy, what's your turn?

Okay. If using the first attack as Val's in-turn action, then please add 2 to the damage since he would have raged beforehand (for a total of 16 damage.)

As the very strange creature looks about, clearly angry at being fooled, Val steps into view, raising his strange sword above his head. Evy things it almost seems to glow. But the trees have a strange look as well, now that she thinks about it.
Rage focusing his vision, Val brings his blade down, cutting across the naked humanoid-except-for-the-head thing. Its tooth-filled petals tremble as it screams/roars in response, and Evy takes the opportunity to send a small bit of flame at it. The projectile hits the creature, leaving a small burned place upon its hairless hide.
After completing its roar, the demogorgon turns his strange head and both clawed hands on Val. (Bite Attack: 9 Damage: 5 piercing damage; Claw Attack: 20 Damage: 10; Claw Attack: 6 Damage: 11 slashing damage)
Val ducks out of the way as the petals fly together, just missing the tiefling's ear. As the first claw comes around, he brings up his sword, and the creature's attack is blunted by the blade, but Val is unable to get out of the way of the second swing, and he feels the claws leave gashes across his arm. His rage lessens the attack, however.
Val ignores the scratch to his arm and swings his new blade once more. "When I get used to this blade, I'll swing it as fast as you wield those nasty claws!"

While Val's sword comes down across the creature for a second time, Evy's aim is a little off, and her second fire bolt sails by it, popping against the stone wall behind the creature.
The creature opens and closes his flower-like face, trying once again to catch Val. And its arms continue to swing, trying to catch him with its claws. Its body movements appear more exact this time, and Val notices (Evy doesn't) that the burn mark Evy's fire bolt left disappears. (Bite Attack: 9 Damage: 9 piercing damage; Claw Attack: 10 Damage: 19; Claw Attack: 22 Damage: 13 slashing damage)

After being scratched a second time and noticing some healing going on, Val screams. "Evy! It did something! It's moving even faster now. Maybe it was the fire. Don't feed it fire."
-> Action: Attack(Reckless Attack) vs. Flowerhead: Attack: 23 Damage: 17
-> Wild Surge roll: 7
OOC: If the creature is going to attack with advantage, Val might as well do the same...
"Daughter of the... sorry!" Evy yells, switching it up. She grabs the invisible weave and pulls, throwing a warbling, whistling stream of magic at the creature!
Move: nope, stay covered by tree. Action: cast Chaos Bolt at flowerhead. 13 to hit, for 8 magical...
