"This shard... I can't tell much, sorry but it has to do with fire, thats for sure. once we enlarge ourselves once more we can get it appraised by someone."
Cerlinde says” this was interesting.. I’m tempted to explore these tunnels some more. If we encounter this spider are we confident we could handle it?”
"I say we go out into the tunnels more, and see what we can do with this spider, but we do want to hurry before too much time passes in the large world." and so, Zithers goes out into the tunnels once more.
The party (or at least Cerlinde and Zithers) heads back down towards the main tunnel, and then turns northward, continuing to follow the gentle upward slope.
As you trudge along, Durnik the dwarf muses, "If we want to regain our normal stature, and I most assuredly do, then I see two courses: either we somehow get back up on that table, figure out the device and manage to reverse the process ourselves, or else we attract the attention of Erastus or some other normal-sized friendly person and enlist their help to reverse the process. "I'm not much of a climber, so my suggestion would be that we try the second approach. Maybe some of these items we collect can help us signal our presence."
The human fighter, Jack, answers "Yes! The coin, the lens, perhaps some of the 'shiny' objects the spider queen has collected, might help us get noticed."
"If we go back the way we came, into the basement, we'll have to watch out for that clockwork rat trap, so I'd say when we collect enough items, we probably exit near the garden and go in through the front door," adds Amelia the rogue.
As you move along the tunnel, you notice a few caved-in side branches, but one opening seems relatively intact, and does have a few dangling web-threads in the interior, as you peer down the passage.
“This sounds like a good plan. Let’s collect some items, and then we can assemble something to get that gnome’s attention. I can perhaps use some spells to attract attention as well. Let’s go see if this spider nest is worth investigating. Don’t get bit, though! I have no idea what that poison might do to those our size.” She stays in the rear of the group, but peering into the dark passage.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With a shiver, Zithers says "Even if I were big, I'd avoid getting bit by those creepy crawlies. Arthropods are atrocious in my opinion." Zithers walks in front of the group if Cerlinde is in back, and will talk on the journey over to this spider queen: "So there's no telling what we'll find at the spider queen's nest, and I may just be influenced by my... magmatic patron, but all these objects call fire to mind. The shiny coin reflecting sunlight into the lens, plus if we take an hour or so to truly study this magic shard, that could help also. Of course we dont want to burn this inventor's house down, however much trouble he's caused us, but if we find a protected spot in a field, some burning brush will surely catch someone's attention." Zithers quiets as he gets closer to his destination, and will attempt to avoid detection from these spiders. (stealth 16)
As the party peers into the dark passage and discusses their options, they hear scuttling sounds from the south, and they turn to see two familiar beetles carrying what appears to be an ancient Firbolg approaching. The beetles set the druid down, wave their antennae at you and at him, and then scuttle back in the direction of Amos' abode. Cerlinde and Mohdrak sense something familiar about this druid...
After perhaps an hour, the beetles return, carrying what appears to be an Elven ranger, who looks a bit like a deer caught in a lantern-beam. The two giant insects wave once again, and set off back down the tunnel, a little slower than the last time.
One hour later, amazingly, the beetles appear once more, this time bearing a dazed and confused tiefling. They wearily dump him onto the floor and turn and trudge back home without even acknowledging any of you.
Jack, Durnik, Amelia, and Mohdrak, seeing the newcomers' arrival, admit that they are suffering from acute stress anxiety and perhaps a little bit of stomach flu, and decide to return to Amos' abode to rest. They wish you good luck, and if you find a way to biggify yourselves that you won't forget about them. They then follow the beetles back to warm food and comfy beds.
EDIT: Mohdrak leaves behind the giant silver coin and the lens he had been toting around. Just in case you find a use for them.
A figure approaches the party cautiously, the hood of his cloak drawn over his face. With the ruckus raised by the transit of the beetles, Zensiro surmised that any chance of stealthily observing the party he was approaching was already gone. One hand lingered over the hilt of his scmitar while he walked forward slowly, unsure if these denizens of the tunnels were friendly or not.
"Uh... hello there? I was recently affected by some sort of beam operated by a rather batty gnome, then carried here by two large beetles, with a brief stop at the door of an extremely large rodent. Does any of that sound familiar to you all? I am embarrassed to admit that, while I know the path upon which I have travelled the last half hour, I have no idea where I am. Perhaps you could help with that?"
(Obligatory character description...)
Zensiro is wearing functional leather armour and a hood concealing his very obviously elven features. Pale, bluish skin, sapphire blue eyes, auburn hair, just over six feet tall. Not likely to blend in with those features, and not all are friendly to elves, no matter how friendly Zensiro might be to them. Better to stay covered up and let his skills do the talking. As such, the colours of his garb are muted and natural, well-suited to blending in with both wilderness and urban settings. His scimitar and quiver hang at his side, along with an elegant dagger. A longbow is slung across his back, next to his well-worn backpack, affixed to which is a similarly experienced handaxe. From all appearances, Zensiro is living by the time-honoured motto, "Be prepared."
an attractive redhaired elf with fair skin with a slightly golden cast to it approaches the newcomers. Clad in green and brown elvish-style traveling clothes with a forest green cloak and high soft boots, She carries a staff and green leather backpack- also nicely styled with a ivy pattern.
She has a serious expression, “welcome to the land of the very small. You are still in haven, near the lab of that gnome. The teleportation device of that gnome is actually an incredible magical shrinking machine- we are now each the sIze of a thimble- irreversibly, as far as we know. For those I don’t know, My name is Cerlindriasi Illinarious, originally of the Towerwood Elven lands. You may call me Cerlinde. I am a scholar of arcana and aspiring wizard. We are trying to figure out a way to get big again, but also have been learning from this experience and have some interesting ideas to test.” Her voice is soft with a subtle elvish accent- it seems she has practiced common carefully.
The Tiefling slides off dazed yet lands as deftly as a cat.
"What a ride!" he says as he lands. "Riding those giant beetles will really take it out of you!"
He's short and slight with blood red skin, eyes black from lid to lid, large rams horns with black, wavy hair and black nail. His long red tail trailing behind him. He has an infectious smile that's mostly grin with a little bit of smirk thrown in. His clothes are a very dark blue grey. His simple leather armor is dyed black. He carries a dagger, rapier and shortbow in various dark shades.
"Amelia? Is that you? he says perking up "I haven't seen you since that day at the Copper Dragon when I got so sick and disappeared into my room. Zensiro? You're here too? This looks like it's going to be a blast" and the smile widens.
"For the rest of you, my name is Malichi. I am a simple street performer with a wide variety of very useful skills" he says with a bow
Dyumi stands dazed for a moment, then shakes off his dizziness and rushes over to the group.
"Cerlinde! Mohdrak! There you are! I was worried sick!"

Zensiro's expression turns from one of concern to one conveying a dreadful realization. "Land of the very small... that does make sense, given what I've seen. I realize now that the bizarre landscape I first found myself in was simply the room in which I had been standing. And I suppose those were just normal sized beetles. Irreversible though, I certainly hope that is not the case. Magicks exist that can bring us to Haven; the leader of my people bridged an entire city from the Feywild back to Faerun! You are a wizard, Cerlinde, I'm sure we can find a way to undo this unfettered gnome's faulty work. I, for one, have no interest in spending the remainder of my days at this size. Oh, and hello Malichi, nice to see you again, although these are certainly not the circumstances under which I imagined we'd be reacquainted." Zensiro clearly has little interest in pleasantries at this point and has shifted to full-on problem solving mode.
"How long have you been here and what else has your party encountered during that time? Have you discovered any clues as to the nature of the machine that shrank us? If I recall, the gnome muttered something about a distance knob before he tripped and blasted me. Perhaps it could be used to enlarge us as well. Also, have you a map of your travels? Any sense of where we are at present? There are certainly places in Haven we should avoid in our current condition."
“Thanks Zensiro for your confidence in me, and it is good to see you again Dyumi! Well, You might have heard that a few days ago Dyumi, Mohdrak and I were trapped in an extra-dimensional mansion for some time, and we didn’t panic, just tried to enjoy our exploring and find out a way back. So I think the same plan works here. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve not drawn a map yet- I need to start one! But so far we’ve encountered rats, the interesting characters you met, and we were about to investigate a nest of spiders. Our plan was to gather things we could use to attract attention from the gnome, or other people- so that we could get this reversed. We don’t think we can get up to the machine on our own- or indeed operate it even if we could get up there!” Cerlinde replies. She retrieves parchment from her pack and, using the back of a book as a writing surface, a quill appears in her hand, and she starts sketching out a map of their explorations so far, neatly drawn and labeled. Miraculously the ink from the quill changes color as she wishes.
Zensiro responds to Cerlinde, "Ah, I have heard of this extradimensional mansion. I've spent the past few days attempting to gain an audience with Cassandra to discuss her findings thus far, but she is even less accommodating than usual. She apparently can't be torn away from the mansion for any reason! I can take some comfort in knowing that we have members of the valiant party that made that discovery here in micro-Haven. Attracting the attention of the gnome seems like a good approach. How can I help with that? Also, what in the spider nest has drawn your interest? Does the party have any antitoxin or other means of dealing with poison? I've had encounters with giant spiders in the forests of my youth that did not end well for all involved."
Cerlinde smiles and replies- “Good question, and we have similar concerns about getting bitten. I think we were hoping to stay out of biting range, if possible. But Amos told us that the spider queen, as he called her, likes to collect sparkling things- so we were hopeful that there might be something of use to attract attention- of the big people—and, or- might be worth something if it is enlarged when and if we are!”
Zithers is short, even for a gnome, (and especially at this size), with a nose and ears just slightly too big, with spectacles and tangled reddish-brown hair. He has a large backpack and a gnarled walking cane that doubles as a quarterstaff if need be.
With an attempt to mimic the others' graceful behavior, Zithers attempts a bow, but stumbles, quickly uprighting himself and giving up on the has-it-together act, with a sigh and a thumbs-up. "My name is much too long for convenience, but the only useful part of it is Zithers, which is what I'm usually called. I specialize in the gifts my pact with Mr. XrXzzn has given me, generally fire magicks and I'd like to think i have some measure of people skills as well, even if its not especially apparent or helpful in this situation. Thus far, we have collected a mysterious firey shard of glasslike substance, which we haven't had the chance to fully inspect yet, a "large" spectacle lens, and a very shiny silver coin. All these have to do with some form of light, and possibly grant us the means to start a fire larger than i can at this diminutive form if needs be, so shiny is what we're looking for in this den, as Cerlinde has said earlier. Currently our objective is clear out the spider dens (and maybe salvage some venom sacs, could be useful), and we should be able to plan the rest from there, or at least thats my understanding of it."
"As for venom, we sadly have not come across any antivenoms or the like so we'll have to be extra careful, and hopefully long-range."
(Sorry, I forgot to state that Mohdrak also left behind the large metal container of restorative ointment. He was really the porter of the group, wasn't he?)
As the party stands about introducing themselves to one another, two 'small' spiders (about the size of goats) start to creep out of the tunnel opening. They freeze upon seeing the humanoids, and then rapidly scurry back into the inky blackness.
"Land of the . . . ? Ah! got it. All starting to make sense now" Malichi says looking around in wonder.
In a heartbeat he's standing beside Cerlinde "Please pardon me lovely lady and pay no mind. I am a student of scripts and the arts of pen to paper. I must say, your technique and artwork are lovely"
Malichi's head snaps up at the mention of a silver coin "The silver coin is the symbol of Lady Luck herself and is always a good sign. It let's me know I'm where I need to be, for She watches over me always" he says
"Greetings Zithers" Malichi calls out "If striking from a distance or from behind or from the shadows is what we need you will find me to be a asset" he adds
(Survival: 16)
