Malichi shrugs "Well, he's helped us. I don't mind helping him for whatever reason. Besides, it might be fun?" He add, grinning at Zensiro
"Certainly, it should be an interesting quest, at least in our miniscule state. Climbing a tree at normal size is not terribly challenging, but like this, who knows what could be in store? And you're right, Amos is more than deserving of our assistance. I don't know if you noticed, but there might be a function of this metallic wonder that could help us ascend the trees. You have the most experience piloting it, Malichi, perhaps it would best if you continue. I must admit, I find even riding in it a bit unsettling. I'd probably be more at ease on the back of a sparrow than in this thing."
Amelia turns to the elves. “What are you two looking for?”
"Amos has some indication that a rare creature from the Feywild may be up in one of the treetops. It would be a great honour to rescue it and return it to its home. If you'd like to assist, perhaps we could then help you with whatever quest you have received."
(Ok, I'm sensing a consensus building to all travel northeast to the trees first. If anyone wants to opt out, just speak up).
Malichi eagerly turns the rudder northeast, and the AGGE chugs along the ground parting giant blades of grass like the Red Sea. Occasionally you come across a burrow or an anthill, but you shudder at the thought of having to go back underground after having just rediscovered sunlight (too bad there's no drow, duergar or deep gnomes among you :)
After a time, you come to a rough stone wall running east-west, only about 15 feet high, but enough to keep the grass (and AGGE) out of the vegetables. On top of the stone wall is metal mesh (think chickenwire) intended to keep hungry rabbits out, but at your size, not really an obstacle if you were to scale the wall. Through the garden is the most direct route to the trees, or you could pilot your craft along the wall, looking for a breach, or simply to go around what you assume to be an enclosed area. Whichever way you choose, you do feel the sunshine slowly restoring hope to your souls. You did not realize the cloak of depression that had been weighing you down while underground, but you can certainly feel it lifting now, buoyed by warm humid air laden with the scent of flowers, the burbling sound of a fountain somewhere in the distance, the buzzing of bees, and excitement to be both giving and receiving help via your quests.
Wait.... did someone say.... "the buzzing of.... BEES"??

Malichi slows the AGGE down to a crawl and finally to a stop "I say we go around the garden. It's not just that I don't want to AGGE" he pauses and thinks about it "Okay, maybe it is. I think it affords us some protection and speed, but if Cerlinde and Zinsiro can't take much more of it, it's not going to do us a lot of good"

I think it affords us some protection and speed, but if Cerlinde and Zinsiro can't take much more of it, it's not going to do us a lot of good"
Zensiro responds, "While I appreciate your willingness to accommodate my discomfort with this contraption, given the distance we must travel, I think it makes sense to continue as its passengers. Adversity builds character, as they say. Although I do long for the days when I didn't have to be mortally fearful of the sound of bees! Anyone have any luck finding the source of that buzzing?"
Amelia accepts her questions will not be answered.
Perception: 12
(Sorry I missed that. My life is basically utter chaos at the moment, as I previously indicated, so please cut me some slack.)
Given this Amelia's sullen and frequently detached nature throughout their previous perils, Zensiro appears somewhat skeptical of the intentions revealed in posing such a question. "I would suggest that the joy one experiences in helping a creature return safely to its home should be reward enough. Particularly one that's not trying to kill you. In any case, I don't believe we're expecting any material reward, if that's what you're after."
(Sorry, I didn’t mean to be hostile, just a little snarky, but I recognize now how it came across and I’m sorry for the miscommunication)
Amelia’s ear twitches. “Of course I value helping someone return home. I think most of us would value that, given our situation. I’m not looking for a reward. It was simple curiosity, believe it or not.”
(Despite the drawing I posted earlier, there really are no windows on AGGE except directly in the front.)
You can't really see any bees while still in the AGGE. The buzzing does not seem particularly close, i.e. nothing right outside the door, but now that you are concentrating on it, it is very noticeable. The pitch is lower due to the size ratio of your eardrums to the bee's wings being changed, and perhaps that's why it took you longer to recognize the sound (more like a creaky barn door or a snoring dragon).
If you choose to exit the AGGE, you would see a few bees in the vicinity, none particularly focusing on you at the moment, and bees aren't known to be overly curious so it's entirely possible that they would ignore your passage through their territory. At least, if they were ordinary bees...
(So, clockwise or counterclockwise around the garden perimeter? Any extra precautions other than looking straight ahead?)
Malichi turns the AGGE westward to proceed clockwise around the vegetable garden. However he slows down after a couple of minutes, and there seems to be a small swarm of agitated-looking bees up ahead. Their buzzing is more intense, their movements rapid and jerky, they keep taking off and landing again without any particular purpose.
Deciding that discretion is the better part of valor, you all vote to turn the vehicle around and proceed counter-clockwise (back to the east). But you have not gone far when you see a strange sight up ahead. There is something up ahead, an undulating band of strange objects moving slowly, stretching from the rock wall to the north, away to the south further than you can see. Bringing the AGGE to a stop, you get out to investigate, and discover that it is a double line of ants marching parallel but in opposite directions. The ants are about the size of sheepdogs. The line headed to the garden goes to the wall, and then up and over. The parallel line consists of ants returning from the garden carrying various objects: bits of leaves, bits of vegetables, cat-sized aphids, and other unidentifiable treasures. They trundle off to the south, likely carrying the loot back to their underground burrow. There are a few larger ants patrolling back and forth, nudging the workers back into line if they stray. Two of these larger ants turn to look at you, but the others all keep marching along, oblivious to your presence.
You will either have to pass by the bees or the ants to go around the garden. The choice is yours.
"Look at these bees! I'd be willing to wager that they're visiting the Honeytrap I'm looking for! What say we jump off here and see if we can follow them for a bit?"

Zensiro is somewhat mollified by Amelia's response, but will remain a little wary due to his general concern for the fey creature's well-being. "Well, it sounds like we'll all be helping each other, so let's just do our best."
"Look at these bees! I'd be willing to wager that they're visiting the Honeytrap I'm looking for! What say we jump off here and see if we can follow them for a bit?"
"Sounds like a reasonable plan. I'm less inclined to interfere with ants, as they are rather single-minded in whatever they collectively set about achieving. If they decide to deal with us harshly, I wouldn't like our chances. Bees, however, can be a bit more capricious, unless we threaten their queen. Or at least that's what I've observed in my home region. Hopefully these will behave similarly!"

This time, as you approach closer to the agitated group of bees, you notice more details. It is difficult to count when the bees are moving around so much, but there appear to be twelve of them in an agitated state. Their movements appear somewhat random, with no clear purpose. On the ground, you notice four more bees, silent and unmoving. The noise from the unhappy insects is quite loud; you stop approximately 120 feet away. If you approach any closer, verbal communication will be impossible. As of yet, the bees have made no overtly hostile moves towards you.
