OOC my previous readying of my Oath of Enmity doesn't make any sense now as I can't see any enemies so I'll cancel that. Also normally I'd do the movement and action together but I'm going to have to wait to see if I can see anyone before I decide on my action.
Krayne strides outside longsword whistling from it's scabbard seeing no enemy initially he moves in the direction of the barn (G4) scanning all around looking for signs of the source of the monstrous roar.

OOC: Ursal can't see a thing beyond the light of the farmhouse, so sorry guys, need light. Plus, my greataxe is 2 handed, so I'm staying put.
Ursal grabs the lantern from the table and drags his greataxe behind him as he exits the farmhouse. Pitch blackness greets him, so Ursal finds a place to put the lantern, then stands his ground, protecting the farmhouse entrance and those hiding inside.
Perception: 10
Placing the lantern on the ground next to him, Ursal breathes, "Damn lantern."
[OOC: Looks like only place to put lantern is on the ground with a crap roll like that. If anyone has a free hand, they are welcome to find a better place for the lantern.]
Seeing his comrades pause due to the lack of light Krayne drops to one knee he touches a medium sized stone he imbues it with light causing the area around him to appear bright as day and hopefully unsettling his foe.

OOC: Yes 5ft. Also David which grid spot am I putting you? The lantern only lights up 10ft around you. Your perception check yields nothing but shapes and there's a million sounds around you but unable to focus on one.

OOC 2 for everyone - the light spell is giving bright light for 20' from my current position and dim light for a further 20' beyond that so most of the area is lit at least a bit, more for Ursal's benefit than Viktor's and Krayne's

Speaking (In my games, I tell players they can have 3 words as part of their turn for free, so hope this is okay): Bar this door!
Movement: I move, leaving the lantern where it is, and face back to back with Krayne (i.e., H4). I'll face the barn. Goal is to avoid surprise or at least lessen its chances.
I'm rolling Survival to track the creature on my way to Krayne and hopefully to determine if it monstrous or otherwise (one of my abilities is that if I'm tracking Fey, Fiends, and Undead, I get advantage and can't be surprised while tracking, so just in case I will roll two different rolls):
Survival (regular roll): 8
Survival (blood hunter advantage so take whichever is highest): 19
Once I arrive behind Krayne, I will ready an action:
Ready Action: If I see anything monstrous come into my reach, I'm striking it with my greataxe.
OOC before I know whether or not I've finished my turn I'd like to know the answers to my questions posted above and whether or not the light has illuminated anything, I haven't moved or used an action so I could do something else before your turn so maybe better to wait for our DM before we go much further.

KryaneAlthough your lantern is illuminating the area around you, you are unable to see beyond it. The sounds too are far too many to figure out a certain one with a strong smell of farm overwhelming your sense of smell.
UrsalYour senses don't indicate anything about that's similar to you, which hits you as odd to say the least. What is this thing? This beast then....

Viktor sneaks out of the front door to K10 and the closes the door behind him. he helps Azondi to place a couple of threads across the door and places her at the top of the door to watch over the house.
Telepathically he says to Azondi
"keep watch over the house and let me know if anything approaches"
(OOC: Azondi has 30ft darkvision and web sense)
Viktor then uses the rest of his move to sneak along the front of the house to K8
OOC: Sorry it's the top of the round guys!! ALL of your now hear the growling sound coming from the barn as well as something tearing up things inside!! You also hear the sounds of humanoid voices! What's everyone speak?
