Auger increases his pace and easily moves froward towards the woods (Dex Save: 20 +2 = 22). Noticing Granophyre lagging behind, Auger thinks about casting his own spell to provide cover if need be. Bending the light might be needed, despite Snow's cover. Auger looks around as he moves, considering options.
Py, get to Granophyre, I may need you to help me cast a spell on him.
Details: If the situation allows or dictates, then Auger will cast Invisibility on Granophyre and possibly himself (upcasting at Level 3). Its a touch spell so either Auger can do it if in range, or Py can pass the spell through his familiar abilities.

You all run toward the woodline, Snow sending inspiration to Granophyre, which helps him keep his footing. Nobody trips, but Benita suddenly skids to a halt and yells in pain.
You see in the high grass, near the water’s edge, and only visible now that you are upon them, hundreds of young vipers. You spot several swarms, but there could be more. Benita has been bitten and looks green around the gills.
You are situated like so. Big brown cobras on the map are actually swarms of small vipers. The green X is where you wish to go. The sun has just risen over the eastern ridge, throwing bright golden light from the east.
All of the area marked in brown, and the creek marked in blue, is difficult terrain due to being muddy. We are now in initiative and you can post one at a time. Kindly wait for my response to the prior person's post before yourself posting.
Auger is surprised at Benita suddenly crying out in pain and then he sees them. Snakes. So many of them. So many vipers. Here he had been listening to the animals, to hear anything and then he starts running -running without listening and suddenly there they are, everywhere it looks like. Before Auger can think on what course of action to take he stops where he is and tries speaking. Touching the Sea of Stars to reaffirm the gift of his patron Auger speaks to the vipers. "Away little ones!," he says in the tongue of snakes, "Approach and we will be the death of you! Away! Or face the consequences!"

Action: If needed, will reactivate Speak with Animals per text. If it was already active, Auger will make use of Fey Presence to attempt to put Fear into the vipers next to Benita.
Fey Presence
Once per short rest, as an action, you can cause each creature in a 10-ft. cube from you to make a WIS saving throw (DC 17) or become charmed or frightened by you (your choice) until the end of your next turn.
Free action: Speaks. Intimidation roll, assuming it is needed: 11 +5 = 16. Second die rolled separately in case Advantage applies for any reason: 9 +5 =14.

Round 1 results: Auger
(Oops - my mistake: Benita must have been inside the swarm for it to have bitten her. Her position is adjusted to Y24.)
Auger’s Fey Presence has little effect. As his eyes transform for a moment into glowing slits, a wave of leaf-green Fey energy surges to the grassy meadow floor and spreads out among the vipers surrounding Benita. A few slink away into holes in the ground, but there are too many animals for Auger to influence. Many dozens remain, surrounding Benita.
(OOC: the swarm suffers the frightened condition until the end of Auger’s next turn. Because I misplaced Benita, she is free from the effects despite being now within its area. The battlemap remains unchanged. Next player, please post.)
"Fall back, that Roc could get here any time!", Snow says as loudly as he dares, knowing that the Roc might appear at any moment.
Also knowing that his magic is no good right now, especially whilst he is keeping them hidden, he takes out his rarely used hand crossbow and fires it at the swarm of vipers surrounding Benita.
He still has half an eye and ear out for more vipers, especially bigger ones, and that Roc whilst he retreats back towards Granophyre.
Movement: None Action: Attack with Hand Crossbow against swarm Y25 on Benita: To hit: 14+6=20, Damage: 1+2=3 [piercing] Movement: 15ft to D30 Special: Concentration: Pass Without Trace - approx 10-15 minutes left (?) Passive Perception: 19
Snow’s crossbow bolt finds its mark, skewering a pair of 15” snakes. But dozens remain, their small gray nosehorns raised in the air, their thin, venomous fangs like blades of sharp white grass. (OOC: you discover that the swarm is resistant to piercing damage and takes only ½ damage, or 1HP. It is Varielky's turn. The only change to the map is that Snow is now immediately south of Varielky.)
"Benita!" Varielky calls in concern, not even able to see the threat yet from here. She sprints forward to see what happened, and when she does, she calls: "Get away from there!"
Vipers could be dangerous if they're poisonous. One bite could spell the end of anyone, no matter how strong. Luckily, Humans are faster than snakes, so they only need to keep their distance. The only problem was the roc riders, who limit their time to go around. Varielky pulls her shield, just in case. At this point, might as well be ready.
Varielky dons her shield with her action with her 30' she runs as close to Benita as she can get (a-26 or so?).
Varielky moves toward Benita, stopping at a24 and readying her shield.
Benita nods to Varielky, and, limping, disengages. She leaves the vipers behind, but pulls up short once again. Now that she’s on the lookout, she sees a new swarm of vipers in the muddy creek bed before stepping into them. “There are more over here!,” she yells.
Meanwhile, next to Snow, Granophyre intones, “Takal Demesh!, shechtra!” and in answer to his summons, a shimmering cocoon of pale golden energy surrounds him. “My skin is too thick for them, their poison too weak for a Cindarrine,” he shouts to you. He hurries ahead, dashing, managing to maintain his balance and heading through the high grass.
Only the closest swarms of vipers take an interest in the tree-height bipeds stomping past them. The first swarm surrounds Varielky and Granophyre, attacking Varielky, but though they slither up her leg, none of them has time to bite before she flings them off again. (OOC: i.e., misses its attack.)
The second swarm surrounds Auger. It rolls a (dirty) 20 to hit for 3HP piercing damage. If that hits please make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw. Take 14HP poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Also if that hits, Immediately, Granophyre, who sees the southerner’s predicament, yells to Auger, “Twirl your cloak around your arm to protect you!,” which Flash of Genius gives Auger +5 to the above CON save.
Benita and Granophyre are now beyond Snow’s Pass Without Trace area of effect.
Please post for Round 2 in the same order as before (Snow, Auger, Varielky).
OOC: Auger went first in Round 1 so posting for Auger, sorry if I am misunderstanding something. Auger takes the damage. Saving throw: 14 +2 =16 - no Flash of Genius required.
--
Unaffected by his words, the vipers surround Auger and begin biting at him. He manages to fend off the effects of their poison and Auger has one thought. Must. Move. Away. Auger keeps going. "We have to get under the trees! Now!" he calls out. Knowing how most of his powers are loud and attention drawing he focuses on trying to make progress, dashing across the creek.

A golden sunbeam glints spectacularly off of the Yemma’s Diadem, now beyond the effects of Snow’s concealment magic
‘Ummm, Master… Hurry…’, sends Py, looking to the west.
Seeing everyone else do the exact opposite of what he had suggested and done himself, Snow sighs and turns back around. He rushes forward and then in a cloud of tree pollen disappears, as he sweeps the treewild cloak around himself.
A few seconds later, a similar cloud of tree pollen appears by Auger, and he reappears.
"Ok, we plough onwards then".
He once again extends the benefits of his concealing magic to Auger and Benita, and any others of the group who make it into the aura.
He still keeps an eye out for any sign of the roc or other ground level dangers.

(Snow’s posted actions occur without interruption. He cannot see any sign of a roc from his position and no new ground level threats present themselves. Varielky’s turn.)
Using her shield's large surface area, Varielky tries to throw the vipers away, as one may use a shovel to throw loose earth out of a hole.
After two or three times, deciding that even if there are still vipers around them, they simply don't have the time, Varielky sprints towards the others. "Come on!" She calls to Granophyre. "Don't wait for us, even if something happens. Hurry into the woods!"
Action: Attack, but substituting the attacks for Shove, in hopes it will have an effect on the swarm. Varielky will try to shove the swarm so that both Garnophyre and herself are out of its space.
If needed, she'll use her Shield Shove BA to shove the swarm an additional 5' away. If trying to shove the swarm fails, Varielky will shove Granophyre out of the swarm.
Athletics #1: 8+9=17.
Athletics #2: 14+9=23.
Athletics #3: 15+9=24.
Movement: If some movement is needed to shove the swarm away as stated above, and then all that's left towards the north.
Auger and Snow end the round at X13 and Y13 respectively.
Varielky attempts to shove swarms of snakes away, but the effect is almost like trying to dig in a sandpit with a bucket. Indeed, some horned vipers are thrown, yet others cling to her shield, and others appear from the high grass to fill in the gaps the shield-maiden creates. (OOC: the swarm is immune to several related conditions including grappled and restrained, and “ the swarm can move through any opening large enough for a Tiny snake.” My ruling is that it cannot be shoved.)
Benita, favoring her bitten leg and wincing with every other step, rushes forward, and must half-swim across the creek, narrow but fast-moving and not shallow. She just makes it to the far edge, when she shouts another warning having discovered another viper's nest on the far side. She remains in Snow’s area of concealment.
Granophyre rushes forward, catching up with Auger and Snow.
Only Varielky remains outside of Snow’s magical protection, and the sun reflects brightly off of her brass-alloy armor as it is bathed in morning light. Meanwhile, the vipers around her slither all about her feet and calves, striking when they smell flesh (rolling 12 to hit, missing).
Swarm 5 surges forward to surround Auger, Snow, and Granophyre, rolling a 9 to hit Snow, missing. The swarm near Benita seems for the moment oblivious to her presence. Swarms 3 and 4 sense motion and move to intercept.
Above the sound of the rushing water and Varielky's shield whistling through the air behind him, Snow hears something in the woods to the west, a sound like staccato barking, and sees the sun reflecting upon dull iron between the trees.
Py’s attention is focused on the stripe of western sky just above the tree canopy. ‘Master… hurry,’ it sends again.
"Hunker down, the Roc is almost here,"Auger says. Seeing Varielky so far back and seemingly fighting ineffectually against the swarm of snakes he can only think to find some way to cover her. Reaching into the Sea of Stars, Auger bends light around Varielky and the swarm together. Placing them under... under something... it has to fit in -- quickly now. It has to fit. Yes, that will have to do, Auger thinks.
An image forms completely surrounding Varielky and the vipers. From all sides it appears to be a grassy lump 10' high, situated in the field. Something that would not stand out against the grass. To Auger's eyes it is as if an image is overlaying on top of her and the swarm
Py, go tell her not to move away from the image!

Just hoping a Roc rider flying over does not see anything. The spell has a 15' cube effect. That cube will center on Varielky. The tallest point of the lump should be approximately where Varielky is standing and then it should slope off as much as possible to appear natural.

Py: Flies over to Varielky and enters the image and whispers to her not to leave the image until after the Roc flies overhead.
"The Roc is coming. You were right Snow, we need to hunker down."Auger tries to quickly think through options and can come up with nothing. Nothing that would not be loud or create flashes of light. He could end any individual snake by snapping its mind. But so many... All he could think was to step out of this swarm, and let Snow's magic do its work. Carefully Auger steps past and through the vipers he can see and leaves the area of this swarm while trying to stay close to Snow.

Auger enters the rushing creek. Please roll STR athletics vs DC10 to keep your footing. Otherwise, the water lifts you off your feet 5’ to the east, and you end your turn in W11. (OOC: It is Snow’s turn.)
Snow frantically brushes off the snakes that are trying to bite him, and even through his distraction his sensitive hearing picks out sounds of barking. The dogs sounded excited too. He looks over in the direction and sees the sun glinting off what might be armour.
He had to get rid of the snakes and warn to others not to go west.
He starts to whistle a haunting tune, hoping would effect the swarm. Either way, he then calls out to the others as loudly as he dare, "Activity to the west, dogs and possibly people in armour. Do not go west".
If the snakes are driven off, he will move directly North as far as he can go.
Action: Cast Dissonant Whispers on swarm 5: DC 19 Wisdom save or take 11 [psychic] and must immediately use its reaction, if available, to move as far as its speed allows away from you. Hoping they will move South West based on Snow's position. Movement: North 15 feet (difficult terrain - only if Snakes have moved - which I believe does grant attack of opportunity) Special: Concentration: Pass Without Trace - approx 10-15 minutes left (?) Passive Perception: 19 Strength Save: In case he moves into the river: Nat 1!
Snow’s haunting melody resonates in the vipers’ inner ears and animal minds, causing full damage and effect. Some of the snakes spasm and die on the spot, while the majority writhe in pain and immediately move away from Snow. Snow can follow up with an opportunity attack on the swarm before moving north into the creek at Y10. However, there, the bard slips on a mossy stone and the fast current sweeps him under and westward 5’ to Z10. Since he rolled a 1, I am going to rule that Snow’s concentration on Pass Without Trace is lost when he inhales a lungful of water and must struggle to the surface, coughing and sputtering.
(OOC: It is Varielky’s turn; Snow can use his reaction for an AoO against swarm 5)
