The night's watch is uneventful. You don't sleep well, but you get a long rest. Your sleep is filled with strange nightmares again. Several of you have dreams involving Buppido charging out of the darkness covered and blood and with his daggers drawn. But when you awaken, things seem calm. Shuushar has arisen early and made some simple pancakes with the bluecap flour and fire lichen. They are somewhat dry as he has only a little cooking oil and is trying to save that, but they are surprisingly tasty. Maybe it's just that you're eating something more "normal" than fungus and goodberries.
As you prepare to set out, Sarith again points the way to travel toward the darklake. He thinks you're maybe a third of the way there. Those taking the lead can role survival (following the path), perception and stealth. Likewise anyone following in the back can make stealth or survival roles (if you're trying to cover tracks) and perception roles to see if you're being followed.
This day, you enter into passages with lichen and phosphorescent mushrooms that provide dim light as well as occasional crystals that seem to give off a strange glow. You could use light, but it isn't as necessary as the prior day.
[OOC: I'll give you guys a little while for anyone to post anything they might want to do before we set out, then we'll see what you encounter during this day.}
Tanis handed out goodberries the previous night before they expired to anyone who wanted one (he had close to 15 left). He then has 10 for the next day from using is remaining spell slot to cast Goodberry again.
He listens, entranced, to Kisiki, reflecting - troubled on what had happened with Buppido, though he can't bring himself to truly regret the derro's death. He speaks with Eldeth about Gauntlgrym, as he think that may be an eventual destination, though it sounds far away.
Tanis rear scouts the next day as usual, covering tracks, trying to be sneaky, and looking for signs of pursuit. He speaks to the general area where he thinks Phodoxia and Shoowaa might be, asking them to do the same if they ae willing. Putting dice rolls in next post.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Since Phodoxia sat by the fire for a while last night, she heard Kisiki's tale and thought about it. Now when the sticks start killing each other, how can they bundle together? Together against outside threats, that is the only way it will work.
During the next day's travel, she stays back with Shoowaa a distance from the others, keeping an eye out and helping to cover tracks. She still has her bits of phosphorescent moss harvested from the kitchen cavern back at the drow outpost, stuffed in one of the small bags hanging from her belt, but she is intrigued by the crystals. They remind her of the one she had had. She had been able to use it to do magic. She tries to break one of the crystals off and take it with her. If successful, she shows it to Shoowaa. "This is like the one I had that Calminius gave me. The drow took it. I was angry about that. There's no way to get it back now, but maybe this one will do."
Phodoxia would try to chip it off at the base, probably with her small knife. If it needs greater force she would then try with her crowbar to pry it free from the wall.
Phodoxia can get it free with her knife. You get a fist-sized crystal, about the same size as your former focus. As you are scraping at the rock with your knife, some of the small chips that break off seem to spark and give off a flash of light.
As the party moves further into this passage, the crystal deposits become more frequent.
You begin to feel uneasy. In particular, Shuushar (who is normally the most calm of all of you) seems agitated and disturbed.
Shuushar would respond (and this is probably the longest you've ever heard him speak except when he was identifying mushroom species or talking about cooking.) "There is a magical force present in many of these caverns. It is what generates some of the glowing light you see from time to time. The Drow call this unusual magical energy faerzress. My people call it spladowong. It pervades much of the Underdark. The Drow claim it is an ancient elven magic dating back to the time when the dark elves were first exiled from the world above. My people have other legends about it. In the past, many Underdark peoples use the properties of areas suffused with faerzress to protect their settlements. It was a comfort to us. But lately, there have been... vibrations or waves, disturbances in the weave of this magic. It feels as if some other worldly force that is not native to the Underdark has... infected the faerzress. I can sense it in my mind and in my heart. It is a corrupting influence."
What Shuushar said is basically what you know about faerzress. It's an ancient magic found in the under dark. You've never really thought much about where it comes from.
Tanis muses: "There certainly seems like there something corrupted in the Underdark, beyond the ordinary. Starting with those flying abominations which attacked the drow, allowing us to escape. Not to mention the ooze that telepathically said 'Flesh for the Faceless Lord' as it attacked. Even those two drow scouts. I believe they were looking for other runaway slaves, or they would not have expected us to be unarmed and unequipped. How often do slaves escape... unless something else is going on? Not that this speculation helps until we know more..."
To Shuushar: "Prior to this corruption at least, the faerzress or spladowong was not dangerous, was it? I think you said it could be used for protection and comfort?"
"Whatever this magic is it makes me uneasy, as if something is watching us, and I do not like when things talk inside my head. We should make our way through this area as quickly as we can." Vrah says.
Vethna slips back to the others. "Is there another way, a way around this section of tunnels?" She asks the group at large, but directing her gaze at the drow. "If not, then let us get through it quickly." She adds in, echoing what Vrah has said.
Shuushar confirms the faerzress was considered a blessing.
Sarith will tell you the fastest way is to continue the way you're headed. As you love through the tunnels, the crystal formations become more frequent.

How are you trying to break a crystal off?
Phodoxia would try to chip it off at the base, probably with her small knife. If it needs greater force she would then try with her crowbar to pry it free from the wall.
Petmailer gladly takes a goodberry, continuing to sustain him. He continues on point with Vethna.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Vethna takes the lead but seems quite distracted for some reason. It is lucky she has the dwarf with her to help keep them on the right path...
Rolls are perception 10, stealth 9, and survival 26.

If he is close enough at some point, Tanis would ask Shuushar what he senses.
