Tanisis happy to sweeten any payment by adding the 2 hand crossbows taken from the drow scouts the party killed, along with 2 cases of crossbow bolts (not the poisoned ones), also taken from the scouts. But he is wondering and trying to remember the same thing that Shoowaa is - does the party have any gold?
If we can pay extra for these two Web Runners to not only help us cross the chasm, but then come with us and most importantly, NOT help the drow cross the chasm, it might make Ilvara's pursuit more difficult.
Jimjar will pull out 4 gold and approach the two goblins. "Here ya go. How'd you like to make a little wager? If we don't encounter any spiders for the next two days, I'll pay you double the money. But if we do, I don't have to pay you the other 4 gold."
The two goblins chat with each other briefly off to the side. They come back with a counter offer. "How about this, if none of you dies, you pay us double. If someone does die, you don't owe us anything else."
Jimjar says "Finally! Someone willing to make a wager. It's a deal!" and he hands them the four gold.
Phodoxia listens to Yuk Yuk and Spiderbait's sales pitch, seeming quite enraptured. "Really, impressive! I've never seen anything like it. You're smart, you must be pretty successful, nobody can cross webs like these. I was looking down there trying to figure out how to do it when I hit you with a rock. Sorry about that, but I'm glad I did! I've never been happier to see a handsome pair of gobs!" She's not trying to be coy, but the legitimate relief of seeing hale and seemingly happy goblins down here of all places is putting her in a state of gushing excitement.
"How long have you been here doing this? Are there any other goblins? Where's your tribe? Don't you get lonely down in the dark here? Are there even enough travelers to make it worth your while?" Contagiously curious, she shows great interest in their odd lifestyle and continues trying to make conversation.
Phodoxia is well aware that no one has any gold, but as usual, Jimjar seems to have been holding out on the drow---how does he hide all those coins? Does he even have any more coins, or is he just bluffing? Oh dear, is he gonna want one of us to die so he can save gold he doesn't have? Uh oh...
Kisiki looks upon the goblins from the light of his ratskull. He looks at them appraisingly and seems satisfied. "Thank you, Jimjar. I will repay your contribution in kind when I can."He looks to the rest of his party and asks, "Are we ready to go? I do not want to linger."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tanis is ready to go as well, both apprehensive and intrigued by this strange 'terrain' that they are setting out to cross. He tends to trust these goblins and their honest, if unusual business venture, but just in case they are planning to strand and extort the party in in the webs, he tries to discern any telltale signs of lying or duplicity.
Spiderbait answers Phodoxia: "I don't know..." (he scratches his head and tries counting on some fingers) "I mean... It's hard to keep track of time down here. Maybe 8 months? The two of us were exploring some caverns, got lost, ended up here. Got chased by spiders. Escaped. Figured out how to get around. Found bits and pieces of treasure.... We've been away from our tribe a while. We don't get lonely. Travelers come by once in a while, but we explore and treasure hunt when we don't have paying customers."
He says to Kisiki "We can head out whenever you want. One thing though, once we're out in the webs, you can't exactly have a campfire and cook up dinner. Fire and webs don't mix. But if you want a warm meal, you better do that now before we start out. Part of the deal is you guys have to do all the watches. We'll keep you safe during the day. You guys manage the night (he does air quotes around night since it's always dark) watches."
Tanis: You think these guys are pretty shrewd businessmen. They've got a unique talent that is certainly in demand. They'll tell you that Drow cross the webs from time to time, but the goblins keep their distance. The Drow never hire them because they think the spiders aren't a threat to them. So the goblins just stay out of their way.
Petmailer nods and readies himself. “Perhaps we should have a warm meal here before we leave, then store what we can. How long to traverse this again? Any other preparations that we should make?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"Light from campfire will be seen from far away in this chasm. If we do have a fire we should go back down the tunnel a bit. Or we just continue to eat the offerings from Shoowaa and Kisiki." Vrah says form his perch as he gets ready to head out onto the webs.
"I will eat cold food." Kisiki answers, but he scans his companions in the dim light, looking for their reactions. "The Elves I once knew preferred to cook their food. If this is a custom for you, I will wait while you cook. Then we go."
((Just so credit goes where it's due, I think Tanis and Shoowaa have been making the goodberries, not me.))
Before they go out into the webs, Shoowaa will ritually cast speak to animals, so if there are any spiders or other animals seen in the next ten mins, Shoowaa can talk to them.
Tanis smiles. "Honestly, I'd love some cooked food and maybe a nice ale or wine to wash it down with friends while we're at it."
(His eyes grow a bit wistful as if remembering past times).
"But I'm hoping a Goodberry will suffice for each of us until we can safely make a fire again without drawing undue attention or burning away the webs we are resting on. I have 10 and I believe Shoowaa can make 10 as well, which should be plenty for all of us including our intrepid guides here. We can make more for tomorrow before sleep tonight. Let's get going, if no one has any objections."
Spiderbait says: "Eat. Don't eat. Suit yourselves. I'm just telling you there can be no fires or torches either once we enter the webs. Unless you're trying to burn some away. We're estimating two days travel to get you down the chasm the distance you need to go, then across to the other side. That's if everything goes smoothly. Tell us when you're ready to set out and we'll get underway."
"We have magic berries to eat. I'm ready," Phodoxia says. She'd been fiddling with a dagger while the others discuss victuals, eyeing Shoowaa's wagging tail, and she sheaths it, ready to go as soon as the others give the word. Then she whispers to Spiderbait, "Don't you think a goblin with a tail is the most hideous thing you've ever seen?"
Glad to see that Spiderbait and Yuk Yuk at least seem to have raised Phodoxia and Shoowaa's spirits, Tanis indicates that he's ready to go.
He suggests to Kisiki that he damp his Light cantrip so it is just enough for the lizardfolk to see immediately around himself. Everyone else to use darkvision, he's guessing?
Kisiki grips his rat skull tighter, causing it to dim to a small red glow as the light struggles to penetrate the thin membrane around his scarlet-scaled fingers. "The spiders will feel us coming long before they see us." He says while following Tanis' suggestion.
"True enough,Kisiki" Tanis replies somewhat reverently, as he has come to view the lizardfolk cleric as a spiritual leader, "but any drow who see the light in the wide spaces of the chasm pose as much a threat as the spiders, in my view. I'm glad you've damped it."
He gives everyone in the party who doesn't have one (and wants one) a goodberry so that in case Tanis falls, all of the goodberries won't go with him (assuming Shoowaa's got the goblins covered).
Petmailer straightens his pack, tightens his straps and say “I’m ready.” If offered, he will take a goodberry and store it in his pouch. “How long again does it take to cross these webs?”

He asks Yuk Yuk and Spiderbait: "Do drow often traverse this chasm through the webs?"
He smiles at Jimjar. "Well I already owe you 1 gold if we all reach the Darklake safely, now it looks like I'll owe you more. Thank you."
