Azrael replies, "Yes, until I think last year or so, I was a snake until a forest spirit did this to me." He motions to his legs. "What were you before?"
"I was the sole protector of my tribe in a set of woods very far from here. Many things tried to kill us all the time but, i was able to protect everyone. One day we found a human who was starving and on the brink of death and I took him in. He told me about this place and said I should come here. So after a few years of training the youth I left. And now im here." he says with a smile on his face.
"A soul protector? That's very honorable. I hope I can match your ability. How do we get a job then? Or do we simply wander into the woods?" Azrael starts scraping the bottom of his bowl of stew.
"That is a wonderful question, that I wish I had a good answer to. Sadly I've made most of my coin from adventuring in the forest..." Jeannette trailed off slightly and scratched the back of her neck. After a couple of seconds she took a breath before slowly rising from her seat. "Speaking of the forest, I was just thinking about heading back out there shortly. You never really know what you're going to stumble across when you head out there and that's all part of the fun."
"I don't mind if you and your friend join me, in fact I've always found that adventuring with friends to be quiet fun. Oh... before I forget, my name is Jeannette."
A brooding figure rises from a darkened corner near the hearth. A surprisingly light, almost musical voice emanates from between his modest tusks. "If you're intent on heading into the forest..." The half-orc drains his flagon of lager and sets it on the table behind him - a long, somewhat dramatic pause before finishing his sentence - "...Use caution. There are treacheries in this area; dangers that go unnoticed until it's almost too late. Even in a group, stay on your guard. There is strength in numbers, however, and I am unengaged if you wish to add one more to your group."
After this oddly-phrased invitation request, the stranger unceremoniously sinks back into his wooden chair as though the very act of engaging in conversation has exhausted and frustrated him. A faraway stare mattes his eyes as he lifts another mug of full of an unknown but pungent libation to his lips.
A tall elf with a hooded green cloak enters the tavern. He opens the door very slowly and quietly slips through. Like a ghost, he wonders his way to a small table in the corner, opposite of the roaring fire place and the bustling adventures divulging all the details about their recent exploits in the Forest of Wonders. "Long way from home in Dolsela, I might as well warm up with a little bit ale first before I head out into the forest. I'll stay here and soak up some of the atmosphere and gossip while I'm at it." He reaches into his traveling gear and gently pulls out a small journal with worn and tattered leather. He reaches in one of his other pockets for a quill and some ink. Lorik retreats to his writings after a few sips of ale..."
The door opens slowly, a bandaged wood elf hobbles his way slowly accross the busy tavern to the bar. He gently places himself in the stool with difficulty. "By the grace of Eldath, I managed to complete my first expedition. Who knew goblins could be so dangerous? Barkeep, I'll take an ale and a room if there is one open" Lorik pays 50 gold for a night of rest.

Azrael's eyes perk up and he puts on a toothy grin of sharp teeth. "Oh! I am a new person as well! What a coincidence! We should be friends!"

Lorik puts away his notebook and his ink. "Time to head out, wish me luck!"
He slips out the front door to the forest....
