Darbakh trudges back into town, head hung low after another failed attempt to leave. Even with the loot he earned from the bandit trove, his spirits are dampened, and he finds himself back at the tavern, wondering how he’ll ever leave the forest.
There are some guidelines in the first post. These give you the tools to create adventures. The tavern is just a location to gather adventurers to go on an adventure by someone willing to admin (DM) them. Those willing to Admin get bonus xp for doing so. The links below don't work but the ones in the first post will take you to the necessary tables.
Smudge orders an ale and sits down. Or rather, hops onto a chair since there appear to be few hobbit-sized furniture in this tavern. He looks around, looking for no one in particular other than someone who could help him learn about this place. The reference materials he had were woefully out of date and so poorly sourced as to be unreliable.
Thank you. Seems the click links didn’t work for me. But I did go back to page 1 of the post and see similar link areas which did work. Thank you for the help

Darbakh doesn’t initially turn his head to look at Smudge, instead staring into his own food. Once Smudge receives an ale, the duergar speaks out the side of his mouth to the hobbit. “New in town?” Darbakh asks.
“Yuh, yuh, yuh, yes, master dwarf,” stutters Smudge. He keeps his eyes down while lifting his ale up, although he sneaks a peek at the duergar who addressed him. “Just arrived after many days journey. Wa, wa, wa, want to learn about Dolsela. You from here?” With his question, he finally turns to face Darbakh.
Darbakh continues staring into his food for a moment, and he somehow looks tired despite being entirely awake. “From here?” he mutters. “Almost. Stuck here. But if you’re looking to risk life and limb to earn a living, Dolsela is probably the right place for you.”
He turns over to look at the hobbit as well. “Am I correct to guess that you’re here for work? Most people are.”
“I want to know more about Dolsela. Working in and around it has gah, gah, gah got to be the best way to learn about it. Know of any jobs? Others are stronger than me but my goddess, Tymora, has given me other powers.”
So question. Is there a min level of dnd beyond needed to create one of these new adventure threads (I’ve never played a game in this tool). Can I do this with a free version or do I need something more?
Once I am able to do so (either with free or an upgraded subscription). I’d just create the thread. Then assume I’d use the thread to document the event. Assume that the dndbeyond tool doesn’t create any of the content that could be rolled on the encounter tables. At best I’d either inside the tool roll or at my desk roll my physical dice and update the thread. am I missing anything ?
(OOC: I’m definitely not an expert, but there’s no minimum level needed to create a thread. The free version also lets you do this, though subscriptions will obviously grant more options. If you want a basic, bare-bones adventure, you can do so now, and there’s a way to roll dice directly in the thread. There are instructions on how to do that here.)
Thanks. I will try that out. My bigger challenge is I can’t create the characters I want because I haven’t bought my xTH digital copy of the source books. I have them (digital) on fantasy grounds, but (now obviously) can’t import them into dndbeyond so if I would need to drop another 200$ (on top of my physical books and the first digital copy on FG).
anyone know if it’s possible to import digital books from another source.
I don’t know of importing books from another source, but if you have a DM with a campaign, they can share some data with you just for the duration of that campaign. I’ve never done it before myself, so don’t quote me, but I believe that’s roughly how it works.
“Um, um, um my name is Smudge. What is yours?” he asks the Darbakh. “And are there others looking for adventurous work?”
“Darbakh Smokestack, at your service I guess I could say; and this little miscreant on my shoulder is Runok.” The duergar nods toward the creepy owl perched on his shoulder.
”This town is full of people looking for work, maybe a third of the population. Sharecroppers, foresters, porters…and adventurers. I’m guessing you’re one of the latter too?”

“Sorry, I forgot my manners. Smudge Greenworm, at your service. Yes, adventure is what I’m interested it. To, to, to, too much time in the library so it’s time to get out. And I’d guess you and your bird are also up for an adventure? Also, can I buy you another ale?” Smudge needs another drink - even just of ale - to help him with this social encounter.

Just giving this a bump in case others find this option interesting to do themselves or with a small group.

How do we figure out things to do?
Hi. Wondering how this Dmless adventure works
(It’s kind of just a place to meet and plan quick adventures with random people, with little to no oversight from the OP)

Silverwand, I’m also new to this format. id guess lhsan is the expert here. I’m open for adventure in the game and in managing/organizing the game.
