Gris to Adoy "well my small friend.. I am afraid there are some humanoid beings here that decided they will rule over the poor horse. They will get angry at us if we free her"
Ennis has been quietly listening to the general conversations of his friends, all while carefully trying to keep his eyes averted from the dwarf's trousers. He finds Adoy and Gris's whispered chat the most intriguing at the moment and approaches them.
"Indeed, my small friend, I am afraid that most humanoids in so-called 'civilized' lands are prone to taking other creatures as pets or slaves of a sort, often against their will. Some are better than others about keeping such creatures safe, well cared-for, and happy, but all too many just see them as tools to be used."
He spares a glance at the seemingly agitated and fiery horse, and another for its handlers.
"I feel this might be one of the latter cases. But unfortunately the laws of this land would make it very troublesome for us to attempt liberating such creatures without going through proper channels."
"Nice pants!" Ayoola says with sincerity to the Dwarf. "Who's in charge here?" she asks looking between the Dwarf and the woman. "We are looking for one Todd Merryweather, a halfling friend of ours. Did he come by here?"
"Thank you, thank you!" Squeaks the dwarf in a high voice, very peculiar for one of his race. "Finally, a human with fashion sense!"He leans in with the air of a fellow conspirator. "You know, most of you can't tell a jerkin from a tunic!"He looks very shocked that this could be mistaken by anyone, even a lowly human.
"You've been around humans for long, then?" Ayoola asks and smiles. "Where are you from?" She reaches out with her hand. "I am Ayoola Nyu, by the way. Nice to meet you." She pauses to give him time to answer before asking: "You wouldn't have met the halfling I mentioned?"
"That's my job. I'm the official embassy of King Shafire Grimstone." He says, still in that infuriatingly squeaky voice. "And as to the halfling, I've only been in town for a few hours. Official business, you know." Here he taps his nose knowingly and winks several times, as if he had a bug in his eye.
Adoy, looking very confused and a little concerned, looks at the horse and then back to Gris and Ennis.
"Well then perhaps we can give these men money in exchange for this creature's freedom? Or if that will not work perhaps we can help him fight to be free, I am sure he would be happy to accompany us if we help him."
Adoy pauses then adds,
"I would rather avoid any violence, but surely we can't leave him here in such a pitiable situation."
He turns to the handler,
"How much metal do you require for the freedom of this horse?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Adoy takes a moment to look the situation over and observe everything he can about these people and this horse, to see if he can pick out detail that might help the party convince Nancy to lower her price a bit.
"The hors'n cart are yours for 50 crabbits. No less."
The dwarf finally joins the discussion, having been deep in thought for some time.
"I'll pay for the lot of it, on this one condition: You see me safely to Stoengrim. Er, you see, I can handle about ten orcs, but, er, if it gets to be more than that, I find it harder to beat them all off. I'm sure you all understand."
He looks anxiously at you, muttering under his breath, "Stupid, good-for-nothing so-called King, not even sending his finest ambassador an escort."

"I think we can get you to Stonegrim," says Ayoola and looks to her companions for confirmation. She concentrates and tries to remember the lay of the land. "But we'll have to take the route on the coast first, towards the trading outpost and then head east."

Is the horse a stallion or mare?
[OOC: Never mind. We wrote messages at the same time]
The horse is a stallion.
"Well guv, I can't rightly say afore consulting with Nancy, but I could 'azard a guess at 40 crabbits, seein' as she's so wild."

If the horse is a stallion, then it's a "he" not a "she."
Well, seems I embarrassed myself in front of several people. Oops. :)

[Better in RPG then in front of real horse;) ]
"I think we could find 40. But we will probably need a cart also. Maybe you need something to be deliverd to the north? We could do this for you"
Who is Gris speaking to?

The ORANGE COLOR speaking person
"Gimme a minute, an' I'll talk to Nancy."
The man speaks in a hushed whisper to the woman, where they argue for almost five minutes. Then Nancy walks over.
"No less'n 35 crabbits will I sell 'im for."

How many total crabbits do we have again, guys? I have a total of 6, and giving all of that would leave Ennis begging on the street.

"Alone it won't do us any good. We also need a cart with that horse," Ayoola says to Nancy. "How about 40 crabbits for the horse and a cart."
Persuasion: 6

(Second roll, if I get advantage from Kathleen: 18)
Gris agrees with the plan
Kathleen seems to be elated at the prospect of a longer adventure.
