Jek is glad to see the giant running, but then the others started following. Oh... They can't let it go to terrorize others. Okay, uhhh, what can he do. Oh, a web should work nicely! Jek starts to run forward, just as the giant falls to the final ray of flame.
He slows to a stop and looks to the two giants. Then to the rest of the order. "Wow.... Atoh, that was an amazing plan! You all were amazing! I was ready to run away, that was terrifying. I can't believe you all just ran in there." Then, Jek realizes how loud he was speaking. In a whisper, he will ask. "Umm, there were only two, right?"
Atoh keeps running without looking back. She only halts when Tola catches up to her and stops her. The little dragon hugs Atoh's waist, claiming her down just like his partner did a few minutes ago. " Easy buddy! It's over! " " Over? " The girl blinks her eyes." Is he dead? " " Dead like a big stinky rock." " How…? " " Brevon. That guy's firepower is amazing!" Atoh turns around and finds the dead giant. He was terrifying when he was alive. But now fallen and smoldering, the massive body looks sad and pitiful in Atoh's eyes.
@Jek
" T、thank you… actually it's not my plan. Gandalf's plan. I just gave it a minor improvement." Atohsays shyly. " It should be two. But just in case, let's check the their den"
It's not hard to find the Hill Giant's den. The Order of the Phoenix is able to follow their huge foot prints in the needles that have fallen from the sequoias around them to a crudely built wooden lean-to that's nestled amidst some young trees. There are skeletons scattered about the outskirts of the encampment, most belonging to mammoths or banthas or large horses, though a few bones belong to smaller animals and even some humanoid races; most of the latter look chewed on or are missing bites that have been taken of them. There does not appear to be any other giants in the area or using the encampment, as best the Order can tell. The order finds a little gold and some items that have been lost by previous captives before they depart back toward Mantry's Reach.
" I wanna this! I wanna this! " Tola brings an item that looks like an ordinary walking cane to Atoh." What is this? " " It's called Veteran's Cane. It can turn into a sword!" " And then? " " That's all. It can't turn back, and become not magical anymore." "… Are you sure you want this? " Atohlooks at the cane unbelievably. " It sounds like the least valuable item among our loot. And probably don't have any use for you" "it's a sword changing stick! It's cool! Cool doesn't need reasons. And it's very useful for me. For example… Can you throw it for me? " The girl does what the little dragon asked. Tola runs to the cane, fetches it and returns to his partner." It's super fun! Can you do it again?" Atoh laughs and pets her partner. " Okay. Okay. But just once. We have to return to the town. People are eager to know our report!."
Brevon kneels by the charred body. "The Lady has graced us this day." He motions toward the dead. "These people have lost their lives. We hope not senselessly. And we must remind ourselves that from such loss there can be new beginnings. Chuba's feeling is entirely appropriate. From ashes there is always rebirth, in one form or another. It is a lesson we should all hold close to our hearts as we continue our perilous journey. We ourselves are, as the phoenix, ever rebuilding from our own histories of loss."
"The people of the town are safe, at least from this threat. But a greater danger lies on the horizon, we know. We should report these events to the townsfolk and prepare to depart. With luck, we will have earned favor among them, and they may be willing to help us on our path. Perhaps they have information, or at least further supplies, that will be useful as we head toward the mountains and the desert."
Jek follows and is very glad that there appears to be no more giants in the area. "Well, that was an adventure! Honestly, that was very, very scary. And yea, I guess this is just the start. Ummm.... Sorry about putting that one illusion right in front of us. I got kinda flustered. "
Jek will agree with Brevon. "Yes, we should definitely let the townsfolk know they are save. Umm, do you think they will believe us? Should we bring some Giant teeth back or something?"
Seeing the Pipe of Smoke Monsters, Jek will say "Oh oh oh! One of my brothers had one of these. They are fun! Can I have it!"
The day was waning when the Order of the Phoenix shimmied back across one of the Three Sisters and returned to Mantry's Reach. Already twilight was consuming the day, the blush of the sky the tell-tale sign for the people of the Reach to start heading indoors.
It was the crotchety old hobbit from the previous evening that noticed the Order coming in to town. He was out shooing kids out of the street already when he noticed them, then looked about, motioning the Order forward with waves of his arm like he was saying 'what are you doing!? Hurry up!' His gesticulations are frantic and overexaggerated but not without good cause; the people of the reach are undoubtedly traumatized for the rest of their lives after what has happened recently.
The children are already clearing out, heading home, being jerked back through doors by concerned mothers and fathers who don't spare a second glance at the return of their saviors.
Chuba keeps Thathors at an easy gait as she holds the reins and a giant's tooth. Her mouth doesn't show a smile so much as her eyes do. She glances to her companions to see if they feel the triumph she knows well—the times she led a band of warriors from the Kashikatake tribe to deal with some threat to the village, returning in triumph to accolades and the faces of relief and gratitude on those they helped.
For a moment, she is conflicted that she feels a sense of belonging with this band of strangers while her true tribe is gone. But she remembers that the Everstone must have plans for her and again feels warmth for these four of the Order.
Orin seeing her look of conflict gives her a smile of brother in arms. "We have triumphed over evil. This is but our first of probably many battles. We should revel in our success and prepare for the hard road ahead." He smiles, this time not as a grown man but that of a little brother showing more of his youth (18 years old) as he himself relaxes from the battle.
As they enter the town, Jek will start shooting off sparks with Prestidigitation and have a victory fanfare playing with Minor Illusion.
Jek will begin saying, loudly. "REJOICE, Mantry's Reach! We, the Order of the Pheonix, return victorious! Through our cleverness and strength, we have slain the vicious giants! They shall trouble you no more!"
As the town is getting closer, Atoh retreats to the rear of her party. Noticing it, Tola slows his pace and sides with her. " What are you doing? You're the one who made the giant killing plan. Why don't you tell them the story and get some applause? " " … That's Brevon's job. I'm not in the mood. " Says the girl inattentively. " Do you know what I thought on our way to the den of giants? " " I don't know. But I can imagine. You thought of kids, didn't you? " Atoh nods to her dragon. " The giant couple may have children. And considering their age, the kids could be young or… just babies. " " And luckily they didn't. If they had kids, that would be ugly for us and the kids."
Atoh strokes the back of her mount. It's a habit she does unconsciously when she feels distressed. " I found and took in a baby Manticore when I was a child. Manticores are evil predators, but when they are babies they look so sweet. I decided to raise the baby by myself. But my father found her… he killed the cub, used its corpse to lure her parents and slayed them as well. I cried, and hated my father so badly. " " Are you still hating him because of the cub?" " No " Atoh shakes her head. " I understood it was necessary after knowing the monster couple had annihilated a whole village of grass gnomes. Still I don't know if I can kill a baby even if I know they will be a man-eating beast." Atoh looks up at the sky. The dying sun turns the cloud into rose pink, blood red, and then lavender blue. " I left my home to be a hero. But I still can't find my way." The little dragon thinks a while then opens his mouth. " Do you think your comrades are heroes? " " Yes they are. " " Then follow them. If you agree with them you will know where to go. If you don't agree with them… well you will know where you shouldn't go. Eventually, you will find your way. So no worries, no hurries. " "…you are right, Tola." " Just like I always am. Feel better now? " "Yeah…" Atoh leans her body and kisses her dragon. Tola giggles. The pair start to move faster to catches up their band mates.
"Rejoice! The Lady of Light has provided, and you are now free of the giant-kind scourge. You and your families are safe! Rejoice!"
Brevon asks Jek to assist him with some minor illusions, and offers a grand telling of the story in the town square. He speaks of the intelligence and wit of his companions, and of their bravery. If not for their carefully calculated and expertly executed plan, they would never have been able to trick the giants in the first place! He mimes the fall of the giant himself, falling forward before a group of children. He looks up, grinning, clearly enjoying himself.
The old Halfling looks like he doesn't believe the Order's story at first, until he sees the hen sized giant's teeth that Chuba produces as proof. There's a moment of silence from him while he listens to all the information that is barreling down on him.
When Jek calls for Mantry's Reach to rejoice, it happens. The commotion in the street begins to get people's attention, and shutters open so that folk can look out and listen, deciphering the conversation in the street and its meaning until, finally, people begin to file out into the road. Hands clap, there are cheers, somewhere a mother weeps. The town is pleased, and while it doesn't undo the damage and loss that's already been visited upon them, it does make the promise of the next day all that much sweeter. They're safe once again.
There is a party in the streets of Mantry's Reach that night while the locals celebrate the victory over the giants. There are fireworks powered with magic, dozens of roasted dishes and fine baked pastrys, and more styles of music than the party can identify.
The mayor of the town, so satisfied with the victory, offers up a fine pair of leather boots to Chuba which he calls Pegasus Boots, explaining to her that they give the wearer great speed. There are instruments passed out, heirloom armors, ammunitions, even spell items and potions and a fat bag of gold pieces.

The next morning comes with a surprise.
The sun comes up, crossing the horizon in the same slow climb that it performs every day, and then, roughly an hour later, a second sun rises, this one trailing behind the other, though it's color is a little different, a bruised rose color in comparison to its brighter sibling.
When Orin wakes and looks out the window at the rising suns it hits him. He immediately fashions and dons a pair of tinted goggles and runs outside and examines the sight before him. He takes out his notebook and starts writing investigative details about this second sun noting time, intensity, color, heat, etc. The top of the first page of notes reads "We have a second sun and it's impact on the people".
Brevon has donned his armor, but leaves his mace and shield in commons area. He follows Orin outside, wondering what has him so excited. "A second sun?!" He falls to his knees and places his forehead on the ground--no easy feat in his armor. "Lady of Light, is this your emissary? An omen? A warning?"
Seeing the giant fall Orin puts his hands on his knees and catches his breath.

"Powerful magic. Talented team," she says to the group. "I feel reborn, in a way. Like phoenix."
