Jek will move Iron-Hoove closer to the wagon. He will say "Umm, I don't think those small people liked me. Do you all think the big things talking are friendly?"
Jek will prepare to cast a Silent Image between them and the sound of the voices, if it looks like there is danger. He will make it look like a wall of stone growing out of the ground, 15ft tall.
It doesn't appear that they're in any sort of immediate danger, but the town is pretty empty. The sun is starting to set and the darkness thickens with each passing minute.
There aren't any lights coming on. No lamps, no candles. The town is going black and silent.
" Wait! " Tola stands up and calls to the adventurers. " If Chuba is right, the giants are going to loot this town! Is hiding in a beehive to avoid bears a smart move? Besides, we can't just leave these people to giant jackasses' mercy! " Atoh is busily racking her brain while translating Tola's words. " But standing in the giants' way and fighting them toe to toe doesn't sound like a good idea either. Maybe we should set a rope trap, like catching deers? " "… Or we can drop the bridge. The giants might turn their heel, if they get cold foot"
Jek looks concerned. "Uhh, you want to fight Giants? Does anyone speak Giant, we could ask them to just leave? Can you teach me how to say a simple sentence? How may are there? Maybe we should just take shelter in the temple and figure out what to do from there?"
Looking at Tola, "Why do you want to fight giants!?! They are huge!"
"They are big doesn't mean they are right! We are small doesn't mean we shouldn't fight! " Atoh is surprised by her dragon's aggressiveness. She pets his mane and says. " Calm down Tola. We are still not sure the giant will attack this town. They are only talking about hunting. " " Well… that's true. But what if they attack the town? We are heroes, right? How can we save a world if we can't even save a single town?" Atoh considers what her partner says. " We have to know what's going on here. We go to the inn and ask the residence then decide what to do next, okay?" "…Oooookay" The little dragon sighs. He gets down on all fours and follows other adventurers.
The inn does, in fact, have stables, and they're readily take on the band's mounts. The groom takes them happily and gets them into the stables and seems to be in a hurry, telling the band to get indoors. Before he can be asked what he's on about, the groom scurries off with his aids, heading toward the stables.
The Copperkettle Inn is packed. There are dozens of people in the dining hall, barely illuminated by candlelight. A mother is quickly rocking a fussy baby near the hearth, her face nearly frantic as she works to keep the child appeased. People are piled in the floor, trying to sleep. Some are even sleeping on the tables. A silent card game is going in the corner. One man seems to be cussing another out with signs.
Well, based on what they've pieced together so far, it doesn't take a long leap of logic to figure out what's going on. But why are giants hunting here, and how long has this been happening?
Brevon cautiously approaches the woman with the child, a smile on his face. He kneels beside her. "Do you want some help?" he asks in a whisper.
To Chuba as they walk to the inn. "Anything simpler? Like 'River Bad, Ocean Good. Run to Ocean.' That would distract them for awhile, if needed."
To Tola and Atoh as they are walking to the inn. "Oh...Ahh... Tola seems mad. Why do we need to fight first? Talking could solve things. Talking to people here is a good idea, find out what's happening. Fighting isn't always the answer. I don't want to fight a giant, I'm small, well not as small as you, but still small. But if we need to, I will fight with you all. Do we need to?"
To Orin after they get in and Brevon walks over to the woman and child, Jek will say quietly "Everyone is very quiet. We should be quiet too, right? What is that (nods to Brevon and the woman), is that a... what is it called...not larva....uhhh... oh, baby? Why do people come out so small, that seems silly. Hmm, we should look for someone in charge right?"
Jek will go up to a waitress or someone who looks to be working there. Jek will say quietly "Hello, we are the Order of the Phoenix. Is it okay if we stay the night here? What is happening, why is everyone so quiet?"
Orin reaches in his pouch and pulls out a small ball shaped tree burl and a vial. He sprinkles a little glitter on the burl and says "suaimhneas". He then hands it to Jek and says this is for you. It'll help. The fragrance is the flower combined with rosemary, lavender, lemon and a grass.
This has a non-magical (aroma therapy) combined with Artificer Magical Tinkering. The scent has a calming effect.
Chuba translates "River bad. Ocean good. Run to ocean" to Giant for Jek, but her face betrays doubt that a suggestive magic will be enough to solve the problem.
She whispers, "First we save world. Then we return and save town from giants."
The woman that looks up at Brevon looks very frightened. She doesn't say a word, just looks dubious as the Cleric kneels down to give her a hand, then nods while Brevon looks over the baby.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tola isn't convinced. But he doesn't complain either. When the groom comes close, the little dragon pushes the their hand away and says. " No thanks, lad. I'm a person, not a pet. I have all the right to enter this inn like other peop…oh! " Tola stops at the door of dining hall. " Well… I changed my mind. Wanna have a good private time in stable now! " Tola tries to head to the stable, but his partner catches him by grasps the Luck Dragon's fluffy tale.
Atoh herself is stunned by the sight and smell. The odor of dozens of men and women stuck in a closed space isn't something nomadic princess usually experiences. She remembers her people never stayed with inns and some of them ( mostly shamans / druids) even deem towns and cities as filthy holes of corruption and plague. But Atoh doesn't come all the way here just to flinch from a few poor unwashed souls. Taking a deep breath, the girl steps into the dining hall.
@Jek and everyone
When she catches up with her friends, Atoh whispers to them. " The owner of this inn is Eran Copperkettle. I never talk with her in person, but my uncle said she is the best deal maker and worst trading partner of all middle Fantasia. He also said Eran is a good source of information. So maybe we should talk with her " Then the girl and her little dragon raises their face to find the notable Halfling woman.

Chuba says to her companions, "Giants. They speak of hunting food. Little ones in town scatter. Perhaps we scatter, too?"
Orin says "it sounds like they're a couple of miles away. What should we do?"

Chuba is looking off in the distance, toward the voices.
"This not our fight. There, Copperkettle Inn."
She says to Jek. "Fer, traktat wit i heim at nul anfel roughly translate to 'Leave, keep peace with this town and do not attack' in giant tongue."
Chuba starts walking towards the inn, a few buildings north of their current position.
Brevon steers the wagon to follow Argo. "I do hope they have a stable for our animals."
Once they reach the inn, he will step inside. "Hello! Good meeting! We have travelers and horses seeking shelter from the night."
