"Careful, that fog makes my fur stand on end", Wisp says in his loud whispered voice from under his hood before he hears the sound of company.
As Lenn whispers his warning, he places the arrow he had nocked to the bow string back in his quiver and moves his attention to the road and where the noises were coming from. He was a cautious sort but he wasn't too concerned by the prospect of a couple of people in a wagon talking loudly, and he didn't want to alarm them by appearing ready to attack.
Esther smiles at the fox as it approaches, continuing to speak to it gently. But when she hears Lenn's pronouncement, her attention shifts. She drops the jerky on the ground for the fox to do with as it pleases, then turns back to the road, standing by the others.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kosef watched Esther approach the fox with a detached amusement, but looked up alertly at Lenn's warning. Kosef slides out to the edge of the road, close to the treeline on the side away from the fog, ready to slip deeper in the shadows depending on the nature of their visitors. He looks up the road, trying to get a good look at the incoming wagon and its occupants.
As you slide to the edge of the road near the treeline on it's other side the two draft horses pulling the wagon start slowing down a little. It looks to be a barrel-topped wagon and in the front sits a young man and a woman, the younger of the two seems to be the one 'driving' it.
Everyone -
As the group's attention is drawn from the fog towards the road, the fog starts to retreat even deeper into the forest. When the barrel-topped wagon gets closer to the group they could better hear the conversation the duo were having. "How could we have fallen so far behind?" The young man asked. "The wagon wheel breaking could have something to do with that Ratka. Although you did do a good job fixing it, if father was here he would be impressed." The woman replies in a reassuring manner. "Damia it's not nearly as good as it could be. But it should be able to get us back then I can replace it again, and hopefully it won't break as soon as this one did."
{ The two haven't noticed anyone yet so if anyone wants to attempt to hide, roll for stealth}
Kosef steps out to the shoulder of the road, hand raised in greeting "Good morning, fellow travelers! The day's blessing upon you. Can you spare a few words of wisdom or advice for me and my companions? What news of the road ahead?"
(assuming that the wagon is coming from the direction that we are traveling.)
When Ratka hears Esther and Kosef's voices he glances around for a moment before noticing them. He nods slightly and offers a small smile before handing the reigns to his sister. "It's a decent morning, all things considered. Perhaps the day has blessed us after all, it's not often that we run into travelers along this path. Are you by chance headed to Barovia?"
"It's always a good idea to keep an eye peeled for trouble, the forest ahead has its fair share of beasts and not all of them are friendly, although you'd be more likely to run into something awful in the night so it's best not to travel the Svalich Woods at night. Also if you ever find yourselves in the area of Tser Pool you should pay our leader, Madam Eva. If you have questions she will likely have the answers that you seek." Damia replied with a soft hum before glancing towards Kosef for a moment. "Up until we came across you it had been clear, except for the fog."
"Your Madam Eva," Esther asks. "Would she happen to be a seer?"
Esther thinks of the Barovian seer Arrigal mentioned the Master Indirovich having visited before sending them all the letter that sent them on this journey.
"Indeed," Esther replies. "I heard she issued a prophecy to one Master Indirovich of Barovia recently, advising him to seek the aid of a group of adventurers. Tell me, what methods does Madam Eva use? And is she, generally speaking, reliable?"
Wisp does not engage but only listens to the conversation, periodically scanning the tree line on either side of the road as he waits.
He makes a mental note of the presence of unfriendly beasts, but that was true of most forests. He also considers the prospect of timing their entry to Svalich Woods to ensure they don't get caught in there after dark.
Ratka looked a little surprised when he heard what Esther had said"She issued a prophecy to the head of the village of Barovia? Perhaps the reading happened while we were away on business."
"There is a small handful of members of our family that are prescient. Madam Eva uses a tarokka deck, like Tereska and Stefan do but unlike them she has had many years to refine her abilities. Generally speaking she is reliable, she's almost never wrong with her readings and prophecies."
Lenn listens to the conversation. He tries not to smell the desired price that comes from the pair. He bites his own lip to control himself and with a low grunt he takes a few steps away from the cart, pretending to be scanning the path in search of more travelers or hidden dangers in the mists but he is trying to keep control of himself.
Ratka and Damia exchanged glanced for a moment before Ratka took the reigns back from his sister and shrugged slightly. "We are planning to head back shortly, we just have to get ourselves turned around. Staying out while the others have already started back doesn't really feel right, not after what happened with our father."
"We do have to pass through the village to get back home so it wouldn't exactly be out of the way. I'm almost certain that there is enough room in the wagon for you all... or if you preferred you could follow us there and use the wagon to take breaks if you get tired of walking."
"Three weeks ago while on the way back from a trip such as this one, we were attacked by a pack of dire wolves. While myself and my brother managed to survive our father wasn't so lucky. It was almost like they attacked us specifically to send a message to the rest of our camp, even though to the best of my knowledge we haven't really gone against the lord of the land." Damia replied with a soft sigh. "He was a good man but good things never seem to last."

Lenn stays at one side of the road, waiting for them to pass. He dons the hood of his cloak though to hide his features from them.

Wisp also stays in full view and makes way for the wagon by stepping to the side of the path.
Esther stands aside as well, tipping her hat to the wagon. "Good day."

Wisp’s curiosity gets the better of him at this point.
”What happened to your father?”, he asks in his usual loud whisper.
"Three weeks ago while on the way back from a trip such as this one, we were attacked by a pack of dire wolves. While myself and my brother managed to survive our father wasn't so lucky. Wisp’s eyes narrow at talk of Dire Wolves, and he glances once more at the tree line on each side of the road.
”Unfortunate”, he says simply.
He looks back at the pair, “Safety in numbers then I guess”.
