Tysris looks to Sarya and says “I can lead if you want me to, I’m not all sneaky like, but I can if you want. Dwalt might want to lead. Whatever you would like. Let’s be careful here, kobolds are tricky things I have heard.” As he is speaking, he is fingering the different mining tools and settles on a pick axe and a shovel that he takes, straps them to his pack.

((totally missed where the party got to the mine))
Dwalt nods as the rest of the party arrives. "Lots of man and kobold tracks around about." he tells them pointing to the ground. "Ain't heard or seen much besides tha sign in common" he points to the sign.
Dwalt will move ahead of the party, to the left for a few paces. "I'll take point, its my job." he says as he moves. Dwalt will move 25 ft. then stop and listen. Perception: 26
Sarya nods and shrugs as Dwalt takes point into the gem mine. She would follow with the others at some distance. Perception: 17 Stealth: 24
(Okay, I just thought that Dwalt has been using his crossbow so far so he would prefer being in the back, sorry about that. Dwalt, Tysris, Ghathi, Sarya, Grim and Darby then perhaps?)

The floor in the east end of this dusty cave is five feet higher than in the west end, with a rocky ridge separating the two areas except for slopes on either side. Picks and shovels lean against the ridge. Small gem deposits in the ridge and the walls of the cave gleam seductively.
Sarya curiously tries to peek forward into the gem mine, but waiting with the others for Dwalt's signal that they should follow. "So, I can try to speak to them if you want to try for a peaceful solution to this eviction job." She suggests in a soft lowered voice, looking to the others for their opinion.
Dwalt will return to the party and report what he has found.
"It goes on a bit then turns back on itself." he reports. 'Tha middle path might lead ta something." Dwalt points to the middle path. "I suggest I go about 10 ft. ahead of the party then tha rest follow, unless someone is a bit more inclined and skilled ta lead tha way." he says.
If Dwalt maintains point he will have his crossbow at the ready and start making his way down the middle path.
Ghathi moves ahead just after Dwalt, but keeps his distance as dwarf suggested. He watches for any sign from Dwalt, but also keeps an eye out himself. (Perception: 14)

An underground river flows through the far side of this cavern, which is supported by a natural stone pillar near the water’s edge. Between you and the river are two halfling-sized gray rodents with long tails and beady eyes. They rush to attack as soon as you notice them.

Tysris is next in line behind Dwalt and he hears the squeal of a giant rat, he guesses what has happened, has had experience with them before in prior mining days. “Not on my watch!” He moves south and then diagonally to move past Dwalt, stepping to the northeast and bringing out his great axe as he does so. “Gonna chop you in half you filthy rat!”

As Tysris moves to attack Sarya follows, squeezing past Ghathi, eager to get a look at what they are fighting. As she sees the giant rats she lets out a short squeal of her own as she always hated the rats infesting the buildings back in Luskan, and these were of enormous proportions. Reflexively Sarya unleashes a beam of fiery red crackling force against the rat Tysris is not engaging. . Eldritch blast: 25 Force: 4 Fire: 2
"Ghathi, rats!" She then shouts back at the goliath, stepping aside for him to lumber into melee.

(So, my work situation has changed, we have to be back in the office now, so I don't have access to my computer throughout the day, just my phone, so sorry if I'm slower to respond. I know the rats go first, but to save time I'll describe my actions after they go).
Grim will move forward until he can see the rats, and cast create bonfire under the closest rat (DC 14 Dex save or take 4 fire damage).
