A bit confused why the party set out when the weather would be its coldest, Dwalt still takes point and tries to guide the group as best he can to their destination.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Survival: 8)
Ghathi nods, "Certainly sounds like wolves. Let's just keep alert." He continues moving, going perhaps the animals will be unwilling to bother a group such as theirs.
MIght've been that Grim and Dwalt were distracted guiding the group or the fact that they've been distracted with other tasks that they couldn't be sure when the next full moon would appear (illuminating the day with dim light for a longer period) luckily studies of the rest of the members (and Ghathi's experience growing up in less civilized environment) helped them remember that the next full moon would occur in four days.
Hearing the possible approaching wolves, Thaddeus casts light on his mace.
The light emanated by Thaddeus mace helped to cast shadows of several trees and rocks that surrounded the walk from Good mead to Dougan's hole. As he held high the mace he, Dwalt and Ghathi (highest passive perception) noticed two wolves following them from a distance it was hard to tell because sometimes they would spot their shadows projected by the mace and their size seemed also unnatural at times.
Dwalt and Ghathi may roll survival/history to know if what they've been perceiving of these wolves ring any bell. (Grim would also be able to roll but might be hard to communicate through the winter gear and the wind howling)
The rest of you who have been hearing the wolves howling might be relaxed (but I assume still vigilant) at the fact that they seemed to be far away since they haven't engaged in any way for about an hour - This also means that you are about an hour away from Dougan's hole.
Dwal keeps his crossbow ready to fire as the party moves.
Dwalt would judge the inconsistencies of the wolves size using his experience and knowledge of the area - "These are not regular wolves" - he remembers a specific tale or rumor about a couple of wolves roaming this area but can't recall the full story..if they are hostile, if they belong to someone or are just wild beasts.
As you move through the road they never seem to engage or get closer than 20 ft but those who are well aware of them will never stop perceiving them.
Darby opens his spellbook, pulling out a small jeweled orb that he holds tightly in his hand. He keeps his eyes glued to where the wolves have been pointed out. "Let me know when to cast. Most of my spells are not very powerful but should handle a few wolves."
"If they are not bothering us while on the road, no sense in borrowing a fight that need not come," says Grim, struggling to be heard over the roaring winds.
"Do you think fire would scare them away?" Sarya asks over the wind, readying her crossbow each time the wolves come closer to the travellers, hoping they would make it to Dougan's Hole without needing to fight these irregular wolves.
"it might help ta keep them from attackin' right off if we light a torch or two. Animals fear fire, from my understanding. But, If they're starvin' it may not keep them at bay." he says.
Dwalt stops and will pull out a torch and light one.
Having two sources of light helps everyone to spot the wolves, at this point all of you can see that these animals are larger than regular ones.
Before reaching the town you can see several trees which will provide better coverage from the wind and maybe the wolves to organize and decide what to do next - do you engage or continue towards the town.
Dwalt's torch and Thaddeus light keep them at bay - or maybe something else - so it might be safe to assume that you can go through the "gates" of Dougan's Hole which are a couple of logs with rotten ropes denying access to no one.
Dwalt will continue through the gates unless someone in the party stops and wants to engage the wolves. Though it is night Dwalt will head for the Shrine of Tempus.

Sarya continues with the others towards Dougan's Hole, trying not to think about the wolves somewhere out in the darkness.

Sarya trudges along in the snow, her crossbow ready but hoping there will be no confrontation with the wolves.
From the rear, Grim encourages everyone to push through the gate and not engage the wolves if they don't attack first.
