Calamor’s eyes begin to water with happiness. “You all are the best! “ he says. “Free dinner, on the house for all those joining Falser here!”
He sees Kimara tending to her horse, and calls out to her. “Kimara! That is you, yes? Come on into the warmth for a bit longer! Feel free to stay the night too!” he says to the entire group.
Falser gave a prompt nod and slid from the stool and made his way to a unoccupied table in the corner, away from those who may want to eavesdrop. A few unclasps of buckles and the halfling draped his sword belt over the back of his chair and took his seat, arms folding behind his head and boots crossed atop the table. “Aye, Kimara, come take a seat.” He gestured to others as well. “Perhaps we can hear more about this supposed beastie while we gorge ourselves on what can only be the best food in all of Ten Towns.” And then take a nap. Yes, sleep sounded pretty good.
The rogue chewed his bottom lip in thought for a moment before looking up, “The names Falser Copperkettle. Figured you all may want to know that since we’ll be conquering evil and what not together. Isn’t that what heroes do?”
"Not too fast Shorty, we don't know if it's a perilous beast or a simple bugbear" The half-elf said as she rooted through her backpack for her bestiary, before sitting down and opening to the page for bugbears.
She read the page aloud, "Bugbears are goblinoids covered in fur known to ambush travelers on roads. They inhabit various grassland or forests and are fearsome in battle with their long limbs, but are prone to run if outmatched. Checks out, I think it's a bugbear."
Clamor walks over to your table, holding two massive plates of steaming food, fresh from being cooked. One platter had shrimp, bathed in a sauce made of red berries found in the woods, piled on top of leaves from trees grown specifically for their edible leaves. The second plate has two large knucklehead trout on it, again set on leaves, with the red berries still on a branch, set to the side.
“Best we have right now, with the lower income of the city. Hope you don’t mind,” Calamor says, a bashful smile on his face.
”I also couldn’t help but overhear your conversation. Cant say what it was, but I could help you determine whether it was this bugbear creature or not, if you could give me some visual details.”
Aura clapped her hands together with excitement at the others decision to take on Calamor’s quest. How very exciting! This is what she had been dreaming of her whole life! She followed the halfling and half elf from the chess match to a different table at the the back of the tavern. She believed they had introduced themselves as Falser and Kimara? Ah, so that’s what the crowds had been shouting during the games. That made a lot more sense. The genasi glided to a stool and sat down, daintily crossing her legs as she did so. “Hello everybody. My name is Aura Dyernina, it’s a pleasure to meet you all!” She looked at each of her new companions, smiling at each one, and listening to what they had to say. There was talk of things called a “bugbears” and “Ice trolls.” Aura did not know what either of these were, but the others didn’t appear to be worried so she felt no concern. The hero’s of her storybooks never failed on the first mission, so she was confident the newly formed party would be just fine. She was just about to interject into the small conversation, maybe ask a few questions, when Calamor walked in holding two steaming dishes of warm food. The genasi was instantly distracted, hunger taking over all other thoughts. With a delighted smile she says “Why Calamor, you shouldn’t have. This looks delicious!”
Kimara looked at the Genasi, happy to meet another girl, before saying "Why hello Aura, I'm Kimara, you must be the beatiful woman falser was talking about when he was trying to reduce how much gold he would lose to the chessmaster herself. Nice to meet you." She then extended her hand for a handshake.
Aura took Kimara's hand and shook it eagerly, beaming up at the half-elf. "It is an honour to meet you, chessmaster! You were very impressive to watch during your earlier game, even despite my not knowing how it works."
Bjorn eyes the red berries on the dish, and motions to Calamor, "Do you have any more of those snow berries?" pointing to the berries on the one of the dishes the bartender had delivered. "I'll need to restock my medical supplies and those berries have multiple uses." exclaims Bjorn happily.
"In combat I can provide a blessing to 3 of our companions that will aid them in combat for a short bit of time. I can call upon a sacred flame to strike at our opponents from afar." recites Bjorn. He pauses, then continues on, "If I still have any strength left in me, I can attempt to heal the most critically injured of us."
Bjorn thinks a bit... "I can also provide light when needed," he touches his tankard and it shines forth with a bright light, which he quickly snuffs out.
"In additional given a bit of time, I have rituals that will reveal the magical nature of objects, people and places."
“Never known bugbears to have good tastes and this thing is running for the hills with casks of ale over it’s shoulder.” Falser explained from his reclined position. “Besides, multiple guards not making it back isn’t exactly a good omen. Either Ten Towns isn’t training up it’s protectors or this bastard has some serious firepower.” He listened to the other’s introduce themselves and couldn’t shake the slight feeling of camaraderie that was creeping up on him. It was in the early stages but it had been a long time since Falser had the opportunity to work with a team.
Calamor’s appearance with plates of food made the rogue drop his feet from the table with a loud thunk. He wasted no time and immediately dug in. “Tastes as amazing as it looks!” Which may have been more understandable had his mouth not been stuffed with a mixture of trout and berries. The group’s talents seemed pretty diverse. That was good because if this thing did turn out to be something monstrous, they would need every advantage they could possibly afford.
“I’m more of the ‘sneak up and stick you with the pointy end of a blade’ type of guy.” Another large amount of food shoveled in and another slur of muffle words, “Has worked for me thus far.”
I'm back
"Well I think we should check it out."
The-half then rushed outside and mounted her horse, after making sure he was warm, and called to the rest of the group

She hops off her horse, before saying "I can stay a bit longer." Before going back inside.

The half-elf,investigatively(is that a word?) said,"Oh really? 6 to 8 feet tall, hairy, long limbed, goblinoid, deceptively fast for their size.

Kimara says, "Okay everyone, tell me what your good at in terms of combat."

"Nice Bjorn, how about the rest of ye?" She said as she took a sip from her tankard.
