Reginald ponders out loud as the egg wobbles, "No clue myself, but whatever it is, it looks like we are going to find out soon enough." He then gets the robes out of his backpack and prepares it. "Hmmm... why only one egg? And why along the side of the road?" The gnome quickly scans the sky. "Could it have been dropped by a scavenger bird?"
Reginald drops to his haunches and inspects the egg. He motions to Roxaria (or whoever is interested in helping him out) to come closer and be prepared to handle whatever comes out. (animal handling roll : 15 in Frozen sick OOC chat)
You see a crack forming on the egg. The creature pokes its head out and starts to pull itself out, revealing many centipede like legs. It cries a shrill whistle like cry. Off in the distance past the dunes you can hear a second similar, but deeper tone answer the newborn.
Roxaria recognizes its a baby Remorhaz. The species thrives in the Crystal Sand Tundra
Kha jumps back as the creature emerges from the. "Whoa! Something only a mother could love, huh?" As if on cue the sound of the larger creature I the distance is heard.
"Yeah, maybe it's time we get out of here. No need to make momma mad... No wait!" But it's too late. Trem's dagger is in the newborn creature. "You idiot!" Kha kneels down and checks the damage that was done.
(Not sure what damage is done, but will cast spare the dying and/or then healing word)
The baby is unconscious as Kha cast healing word. Its wounds close and the baby remorhaz is alive and tries to back away from the party, but it stumbles in the sand. Now the party can hear a huge creature approaching.
The is a large dune blocking the party sight of the huge creature
The healing light flows from the cleric into the baby remorhaz. Kha gives it a quick pat. "Sorry about that little one. Run one to your momma." Hearing the larger creature continue to approach, the orc hops up and quickly follows after the rest of the party.
"Just shut up and run!" the orc growls in response to Trem.
You know, those things are real hard to kill. My parents told me 48 years ago that they lost 4 members of their group to one of these. A Half Orc, 2 Humans and a Dwarf. Or was it 2 Dwarves and a Human?
“Momma is coming and she’ll be super miffed if her youngling was killed by us.” Roxaria proclaims. “Hopefully, the baby will run to momma while we make our own getaway!”
Roxaria quickly rebounds to her feet. “C’mon! We gotta go!” Roxaria stands her ground, sword drawn to cover everyone’s escape.
Luckily the party ran before its arrival. It quickly encircles the baby and gives it a loving lick. Satisfied that it is safe the mother, gives out a deep roar as if warning the retreating party.
It picks up the baby and moves off deeper into the Crystal Sands Tundra

Cats go Moo!
Eline comes over and kneels next to Reginald near the egg.
Animal Handling 10
Trem would have told Eline (the previous night) that he left his home town when he reached what Elves would consider maturity.
As he wakes up and sees his friends around an egg: Mmmm breakfast!

Roxaria gently lifts the wobbly egg out of the snow just enough so as to give Reginald and Eline a better look.
“This is a little unnerving, Reginald. What do you think it is? Eline? Any clue?”
Eline studies the egg for a moment, trying to determine what it is.
3 Nature check to determine what this thing is.

Roxaria gasps and drops the egg, falling back on her bum and scoots back, “Oh shoot!”
Trem stabs it with his magical dagger: to hit 16 dmg 6

Instead of going over the dune the huge remorhaz bursts through the dune. Now the party can see what the baby will grow into once an adult
So we're just letting the next person deal with 2 of those? Great, you both would make great rouges!

Luckily the party ran before its arrival. It quickly encircles the baby and gives it a loving lick. Satisfied that it is safe the mother, gives out a deep roar as if warning the retreating party.
It picks up the baby and moves off deeper into the Crystal Sands Tundra
By the gods! You think that thing cares about being nice? It's a force of Evil! We should have destroyed it when we had the chance!
