Maggwyn also breathes out a sigh of relief as the guard heads outside.. though hearing from the open window it sounds like he is being relieved in about 5 minutes. They best get a move on. Climbing out from under the table, she looks to Crannoc, “Unfortunately no, Birgon only said we are looking for incriminating documents, so looking for an office of some sort would be ideal I would suppose. Should we split up to search, cover more ground faster?”
Miesha - The guard speaking with you looks skeptically at you. “I’m not the one who makes the final decision on such a matter. That’d be Sir Brodstin’s decision. I’m happy to interview you so that I can make a recommendation to him, though.” Make a Deception check to convince him of your intentions.
Miesha does her best to lace her words with as much praise of how good a guard she believes she could make rather than actually wanting to be a guard… Just trying to lie as little as possible. No matter how the impromptu interview goes, Miesha strains to draw it out as long as possible…
Deception: 23 Miesha is reluctant to use the option but is prepared to subtly insult this guard forcing him into a Compelled Duel if needed. Getting him to attack her in sight of the other guards would surely be a good distraction…
Jasper nods at Maggwyn and gestures for Crannoc to come with him and try to get upstairs while 'his protege' and Kass search the main floor. Before moving on Jasper glances around the room one more time for drawers, loose paperwork, etc. and then slips into the next room past the distracted guard if nothing of interest stops him.
Crannoc follows Jasper upstairs, trying to mirror the cat-man's stealth. He keeps Temuth's presence in his mind providing Guidance as he looks around for "incriminating documents." He's unsure exactly what those are, but he assumes they involve the rectangular sheets of paper city-folk always pore over.
Between Miesha’s excellent distraction and Jasper and Crannoc’s well-timed departure, the latter two go unnoticed by the guard speaking with Miesha as they slip out the left door (where the guard went through) and see another door on the opposite side of the hall as well as the staircase up. They sneak up the stairs, which curve, and arrive at another hallway with two doors on the right side and one door on the left.
Miesha - You see Jasper and Crannoc sneak up the stairs behind the guard. The name that the guard said, Sir Brodstin, seems faintly familiar to you. Make a History check. The guard currently believes everything you have told him, and will usher you back to the room where he was keeping watch for an interview.
Maggwyn and Kass - You have a brief time before the guard enters the dining room with Miesha, where do you move in that time.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Crannoc looks quizzically at Jasper on which door to try first, casting Mage Hand with his aasimar father's divine magic in preparation.
He then calls on Temuth'sGuidance to help him listen for any voices or sounds that he can hear behind any of the closed doors. Though he is starting to feel as if old Temuth may just be having a laugh at his expense by this point...

Miesha History check: 11 “Can’t we do the interview out here?” Miesha asks in her best feminine persuasive voice. She’s been around soldiers a lot, she’s learned there’s inflections of your voice which can really help persuade a man to listen. “It is such a beautiful day out here, surely we can talk under the sun just as well as in some stuffy room?”
“Besides, I’ve brought my spear and shield to show I’m already skilled! Can’t be much room to spar inside,” she quickly adds when seeing the others moving even deeper into the building.
Maggwyn decides to head in the opposite direction that the guard went to try and look for an office of any type on this floor. In each room she enters, she goes through it quickly and quietly, trying to find anything that would seem like paperwork and see what she can garner. Also, looks for a seal.
Miesha - Though the name is familiar you can’t recall why, but the guard nods and says “I suppose we could.” He closes the door behind him and steps out into the yard. “So what’s your name and why do you want to be a guard?”
Jasper and Crannoc - Having reached the upper floor you two begin your search. You don’t hear any incredibly noticeable sounds, but on closer inspection you hear voices in the farther room on the right, snoring in the room to the left, and nothing in the closer room to the right. Crannoc, you think that the most highly guarded room is the farther one on the right.
Maggwyn - As the guard leaves the room you hastily dart to the right door where the guard was. It appears to be a kitchen with a small table in the center that has a half-played game of cards on it. There is a trapdoor on the far side of the room that leads down.
As Maggwyn starts to investigate the kitchen, and Crannoc and Jasper investigate the hallway upstairs, all four party members inside here the door close after Miesha and a guard loudly spoke.
"I'm Sansa," Miesha says with a smile and a batting of her eyes.
"As for why I want to be a guard..." Here Miesha does her best to act more demure. Bashful even. "Quite honestly, sir, I need to earn some money. My sister... well she got herself into quite a state, if you catch my drift... And I ain't never had the temperament to be a waitress..."
Jasper changes course and decides to check the closer of the right hand doors, entering if listening, trying the nob, checking for wires or traps, etc. yield no cause for concern.
Crannoc murmurs a brief prayer as he gently touches Jasper's shoulder (as he had done with Maggwyn earlier), calling down Temuth'sGuidance for the tabaxi's attempts at Stealth and exploration. As he does so, the sycamore seedling seems to lean forward on his shoulder in anticipation and he whispers what he senses to the prowling cat-man:
"The farther door on the right is the most... guarded? So with the sounds of sleep from the left, I agree with your choice of the closer door here. I will keep watch and send you a message in your head should anyone come out from the other doors or up the stairs."
Crannoc, making sure Jasper sees him do it, positions himself as a hidden sentry, flattening himself against one of the walls and creating a Minor Illusion that the wall is a couple feet further out than it is, so that Crannoc is himself obscured from view by the illusion.
Maggwyn turns to Kass, "Well, since we're here may as well try the trap door, though it is probably just a root cellar." she heads over and checks for traps before lifting the door.
Miesha - The guard nods, “I understand. It’s good to meet you Sansa! What training to be a guard do you have?”
Jasper and Crannoc - Crannoc, you are hidden to all but the most perceptive eyes in your illusion, as most would simply see an odd wall. Jasper, emboldened with Crannoc’s Guidance and his earlier look around, you see that the door does have some form of trap and is locked. You notice as you peer into the locking mechanism that there is a small glowing rune. Make an Arcana check.
Maggwyn and Kass - You both progress into the lowest floor of the house, a basement. After stepping down a ladder you find yourselves in a well-cleaned room. There are two doorways, the left one having a door and the right one having none. To the right you can see barrels and crates.
Maggwyn also breathes out a sigh of relief as the guard heads outside.. though hearing from the open window it sounds like he is being relieved in about 5 minutes. They best get a move on. Jasper grins at Crannoc and nods, proceeding with his check on the door and potential entry.
