Calvin considers the guard drake with great reverence. He was changed into the form of a giant lizard, but the guard drake possesses so much more power. And is so much more like a dragon.
Then he is snapped out of his gaze when he hears Khessa talking about possibly killing the guard drake. He moves over to Khessa and shakes his lizard head.

“The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules.” ― Gary Gygax
"It is more 'almost certainly has' than 'may have', in my opinion..." is convinced Khessa "We have seen what the cult does. Now, seriously, what chances there are that a cultist never took part in anything of the kind? But ok, I understand your feelings, I'll try to spare those pour soul of cultist as much as I can. I think we will have to kill him, though, now, unless he surrenders... Or what else do you feel like to do? Do you want to charm him? (And can you do that?)"
Noticing the lizard: "Yes Calvin, I do not want to slay the drake. That's why I asked Zale if he can do something about it. Or maybe you can do? For sure, we can not allow those eggs to stay at the cult's disposal... even a dragon hatchling, in their hand, could be used to spread destruction!"
"I must say I agree with Nixi about trowing people around. Moreover I believe that he would have been more useful for our task if we were able to carry him alive and healthy to Greenest to interrogate him. But certainly I will not suffer for his eventual death by the way".
"Moreover" the dwarf mutters "there is an easier way to see what's going on down there" he grabs a tiny stone, he casts lighton it and tosses the enlighted rock down into the pit "I understand the rush of youth anyway"
"Listen, I don't mean to get all self-righteous. I know it's not practical to have a judge and jury and defense counsel present every time we have to decide what to do with a bad guy. Most of the time we'll just have to go with our gut. But I've seen people go down that slippery slope from "we only murder bad guys" to "everyone who doesn't agree with me is a bad guy" waaay too often. Let's just take a second or two to talk it over before we toss anybody else into the figurative drake pit, ok?"

You toss the stone and suddenly it seems to float in the air before it changes trajectory and *woosh* it goes in a SE direction. Make a new Perception check for me.
"Wait" Eric poses his hand on Kriv shoulder, " your action was a bit impulsive indeed, but there is no need to risk your life going down there alone to fix it. Wait for me ant take you guard up, we'll go together"
occ: Eric just want to wait to seeing what happened to his stone
"Not sure it is a good idea, guys..." is dubious Khessa "I foresee no good, when a stone get its trajectory suddenly changed without apparent reason. Shall we not wait to see if Zale or Calvin can bring the drake to our side?"
"Oh, well, we shall see, but if Zale or Calvin can not have the drake leave us alone, violence will be unavoidable... whether we like it or not" reflects Khessa. "Even only, maybe, suppress the unlucky candid ex-drunken soul to have better chances to reason with the drake".
Eric, you have to rub your eyes to make sure you are seeing what you think you're seeing. Among the stalactites a curious eye examines the luminous stone. You know a Roper when you see one.
Kriv, did you allow Eric to stop you before you reached the stairs?
Eric stands still, one hand on his friends shoulder, the other pointing in the direction of the creature. "Guys" he indicates "don't let your guard down, there is a Roper over there" you see that the expression of his face has changed, his legs are suddenly unwilling to move and his voice trembles.
Calvin ponders the dilemma, could he possibly be one to convince a guard drake to join their side? They are not very smart, but they are no mere beasts; his tricks with simple animals probably wouldn't work on a guard drake. However, he had learnt draconic and could probably talk to one. Then again, he wasn't that gifted with communication. Perhaps he could help Kriv in persuading the drake, though?
However, before he can do anything, Eric draws his attention to the roper.

“The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules.” ― Gary Gygax
"No idea what a roper is..." admits Khessa, looking at the eye the dwarf is pointing "Is it a threat? What do you know of it? if it is a threat, we should try to exploit its weaknesses to make the battle easier... if it has any".
"It does not seem hostile, though... An hostile being would have not given away its presence so early, while we are all still far... It would have waited us to come nearer, to be able to strike" reflects the blonde arcane warrior. "It seems more curious about the enchanted stone. Maybe it likes light or magic?"
"Perhaps you'r right. But they are hunting creatures by the way, they dwell in the darkness of the caves, disguised as stalactites, waiting for their prays. Those creatures are ominous sight for every dwarf who digs into the depth of the earth. We've been lucky to spot it, if we careful enough I think we can avoid it and perhaps distract it whit one of those light tricks as you said. It's unlikely that it is able to pursue us, after all they hunt by hidings and surprise and not by chasing..." He seems a bit relieved after the initial shock, but still nervous...
"Both Nixi and I can use the 'light tricks' as often as needed" Khessa assures. "If the roper is fascinated by these, then yes, we should be able just avoid it".
"I ask you another thing, though..." reflects the blonde arcane warrior "Do you think the roper is there because it collaborates with the cult? Is it there on guard intentionally, in short? Is it smart enough to make deals like that? Or rather is it more probable that it positioned himself there to hunt... and simply the cult couldn't or didn't want to drive it away? It's not mere curiosity, of course... but to know what to expect: if it's there without collaborating with the cult, then also the members of the cult will be forced to be careful to stay out of its range".
(Sorry for not responding for a while. Busy day! I probably won't be on here tomorrow at all either. Happy Holidays everyone!)
Zale glances down at the drakes, then back at Eric. "I don't know what a roper be either, and I don't really want to tangle with anything if we can avoid it. Let's give something a try real quick though." She clears her throat then yells down at the drakes in draconic. "Come!" She's hoping she can them to come towards her so they can at least see how many there are. (and if they will actually listen to her.)

“Sorry. I can go get him.” Kriv heads over to the top of the stairs.
