The eagle flaps her wings and lifts in the sky. She describes a couple of circles while gaining altitude among the forest trees and she disappears between the canopies. The party waits for a few minutes, wondering if she had deserted them but then, with a cry she dives directly to one of the wolves at the entrance of the cave. She uses her talons to hit the surprised wolf in the head. They don't seem really hurt, but pissed.
The grey feathered eagle made a sharp turn and used her beak to pick the ear of a second wolf. She cried in defiance and flapped her wings with strength, gaining some distance and altitude from the wolves, but not as much as before, letting the canines to see her, and follow her.
Growling and showing theit teeth, the wolves followed the eagle, blinded by rage they quickly disappeared in the forest, barking and growling after the daring eagle that had foolishly provoked them.
Logan, getting ready for a fight, was both surprised and disappointed. But truth being told, that was more effective to clear the entrance that what he had in mind. Now they could enter the cave.
The small party enters the cavern walking to the left of the stream of water, thanking the noise of the running water that hide the sounds of the clanking armor and their steps. Still they try to proceed as stealthy as they can, knowing that the inhabitants of the caverns had both good hearing and better smell.
Soon the corridor splits in two, the one on the right still runs with the water, there must be another source that feeds the stream from inside the cavern. They can still walk out of the chill water as they have been doing but there is no way to tell for how much farther. The corridor to the left goes a little bit downhill and it's completely dry. Logan can see tracks of the wolves in both paths but barely, for the light that came from the entrance is fading and he is having trouble to see.
Gorm will take a look at the tracks and try to tell if one sides set is significantly newer than the other or not, since she has darkvision... Also looking to see if there is any indication of someone being dragged or brought against their will. (Nature/Investigation check: 13)
”I will have to light a torch if I am to see any deeper in the cave,” whispers Logan. He prepares, wedging a torch in behind his shield handle so the flammable end sticks out above the shield, but he does not light it until others are ready.

"Abut... allow me dear friend..." says Dr. A grabbing a small pebble and chanting a low incantation to it. Suddenly the small rock comes to live and burst into an orange light. The turtle closes his hand over it, covering it's luminescence and hands it to Logan. "Take it... it's quite cool..."
Now the brave fighter has a mean to illuminate their path and cover the light source if needed by simply closing his hand.
"Now.. which path we should follow?" asks the sage "I do not think those wolves will chase the eagle for too much time..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Logan:
"Thank you," says Logan quietly, taking the light stone and holding it carefully in his shield hand, for now illuminating just enough so he can see where to put his feet. Looking to Gorm, he asks, "Have you found any clues, Gorm? Can we tell which way they took him?"

The number of tracks inside the den make it too confusing for Logan to discern anything. He notices, however, that among the wolves tracks there are humanoid tracks too, both with boots and with the naked feet, confirming that they are not treating with mere wolves.. or at least not al of them are just wolves.
"Too many tracks walking over one another, no way to tell for sure except that there is both man and beast in these caves. But we knew that already. I would guess our best chance is away from the water - assuming they track by scent like real wolves I would think they wouldn't want the prisoner right near a waterway they could run down if they escape?" Gorm surmises.
Plan would be to use Command at 2nd level and get wolves to chase the eagle.

Logan:
"Whenever you are ready," calls Logan softly from his hiding place.
(Perhaps saving a spell slot and letting the owl pretend to be injured and "catchable" by the wolves as it leads them into the ambush would be wise?)
