"Ok, so we are doing this", Vin says a little hesitantly, whilst Neferox pads over to nuzzle him, letting him know she is there. "Ok, we're doing this", he says with more confidence.
"Perhaps we could use a little help", he says and begins to chant, "Вывядзіце таго, чыя душа была праклята, каб я звязаў іх сваёй воляй і паслужыў сваёй справе".
It takes mere seconds before shadows in the vicinity have coalesce and there before him is Maka, the shadowspawn of despair. Those near Maka can feel the weight of sadness and hopelessness from them. Except for Vin of course.
"Welcome back Maka. Do you think you can help us stop whatever is trying to come through that there portal?", he says pointing towards the gateway.
As she moves to the gateway he looks to the others, and reminds them, "Don't get too close, Maka can really suck the will to move from you".
For his part, Vin backs away ready to assail whatever comes through from a distance. Neferox waits between Vin and the gateway.
Sam pulls a second Ball of Fur from his rust colored bag. Tossing it off to one side it wriggle and grows and stretches and yawns... Finally a Brown Bear, fresh from it's magical hibernation, shakes the sleep from itself and pads over to Sam and nudges his hip with their head. Sam absently scratches Barnaby's head a moment while he gathers his strength and resolve, seemingly refreshing his strength and energy. (hit dice rolled) A moment later he signals each of the beasts to spread out... Just in case.
"Anyone need a hiding spot carved out?" Sam asks and used Mold Earth a bit to demonstrate what he is talking about. Either piling up some dirt or creating a bit of a hole people could duck and cover in if needed...
"I wouldn't mind some cover," Gewyn says as Sam demonstrates his earth-shifting. "Let's see here..."Gewyn stoops and starts sweeping some of the now inert crystal dust into a small pouch. "Never know when something like this may come in handy for magic or tricks." Then Gewyn sits in one of Sam's new foxholes, and starts sharpening his sword with his magical whetstone.
Muir rubs his head at the thought of being stuck here or worse.....killed here "Yes well it looks like we are doing this then....I have a bad feeling about this but perhaps you should all move back behind me so I can drop down a little surprise for those that walk out of the portal....They won't know what they are stepping on until it is too late.....You all focus on shooting down anything that flies out"
Once everyone moves back, Muir stands as far away from the portal as possible staying within 150 feet of it, in a lightly obscurred area. He pulls up his cloak's hood to hide from anything coming out of the portal and then casts spike growth on the area centered at a point where creatures exiting the portal would have to move roughly 30-40 feet through the spikes (depending on how DM draws this lol)
"Stay back and shoot anything that comes out....I can also cast a wall of thorns if this fails to provide us with sepearation if need be."
As the group prepares themselves, cover erected, weapons at the ready, buffs and traps laid out, the shadows in the gateway continue to bubble and pop, lashing out with shadowy tendrils.
Then come the masses, bodies pushing through the haze like a thick veil, five of them blue of flesh, impossibly long tongues swinging near ther knees, the five rushing undead hostiles are immediately slowed in the spiky growths cast by Muir. They get as far as where Maka stands before the group get off any readies actions.
(The group is up with a surprise round, let loose any readied actions and let me know what to roll for traps like Maka's aura if it's applicable!)
As soon as the creatures come through the gateway, Vin releases the destructive energy he had been holding, with two blasts crossing the distance towards the first to appear.
Make stands waiting for the onslaught, striking out with a chilling rend at the first to come within reach.
Neferox growls as she waits between Vin and the gateway in case any of the creatures manage to make it past Maka towards Vin.
Muir's spiky trap shreds at the feet of the Ghouls as they enter, which only adds to their terrible screaming. When the group respond, ghouls 2,4 &5 are already bleeding profusely and looking worse for wear, even for undead creatures.
Ghoul 2 rasps and screams as vin's eldritch blasts tear through it's body and it crumples to the ground before it can even attack.
Ghoul 3 clutches at its chest where Maka's chilling rend takes hold, but it remains stead fast despite it's now frozen and cracking torso.
Gewyn pops up from behind his cover and throws his magical dagger at the nearest Ghoul before saying to Sam, "We've softened them up for you."He gives the big man a thumbs up, ducking back behind cover.
Elthana's arrow finds its mark, but the ghoul is not felled until Gewyn's dagger follows suit.
Griff lets loose an arrow at the ghoul in the center and finds it's mark but to little effect (5 dam) Serafina on the other hand bides her time waiting for the ghouls to get closer.
The remaining three ghouls advance upon their closest foes; Ghoul 1 rounds on Barnaby slashing out with long blackened claws, (11 to hit, 13 slashing damage and CON save dc10 or become paralysed for one minute. repeating save at the end of each subsequent turn) Ghoul 3 opens its mouth wide and attempts to bite at the shadowspawn, (13 to hit, 5 piercing) Ghoul 5 exits the spiked growth and claws at Molly, but misses entirely (7 to hit)
The gate lashes and spits and slowly four more shapes emerge. Two skeletal forms wrapped in bands of shadow itself seem to hover over Muir's well laid trap followed dutifully by two more Ghouls who scrape and bleed on the spikes as they enter (10 and 12 dam respectively)
Barnaby lets out a loud growl as they are struck, the ghoul's claws piercing the bears thick hide... But the growl is cut short as Barnaby is paralyzed. (Con save 7)
Molly, for her part, shows off her Giant Goat agility and stutter steps to the side and avoids the attack upon her.
Barnaby can do nothing on his turn but make an attempt to break free of the paralysis. The bear, however, remains stuck mid growl and defenseless. (Con save 9)
Molly grunts, bows her head and surges forward, charging at the bloodied ghoul closest to her which just attacked her.
Ram Attack: 21 to hit for 7bludgeoning damage
Sam shouts out "For Lumithor!" because every battle needs at least one rallying cry and then runs up into the fray. Seeing Barnaby in distress Sam runs to plug the hole between the ghoul which attacked his bear and Maka and then unleashes with his maul. Sam swings his maul once, then twice... then once and twice again, using his action surge. He targets first the ghoul attacking his bear and if that falls he moves to the other wounded ghoul engaged with Maka. If by any chance they both fall and Sam has swings left he'll move up to the shadow shrouded bone-thing (likely having to step into the Spike Growth he can't really see anyway to avoid) and unleashes on them.

With no other ghouls in range Sam turns on this shadowy wrapped skeletal creature striking twice at it he feels strong impacts even if his maul temporarily disappears within the shadows momentarily for each strike. The creature howls out in pain and Sam hears odd whispers creep in to the edge of his consciousness from this being.
The ghoul's jaws attempt to clamp down on Maka, but the attack is slightly misjudged and the teeth merely pass through harmless shadow. And then it's life is over as Sam dispatches it with his Maul.
"Ідзі за маім прыкладам, Мака", Vin calls out to the Shadowspawn in Infernal, and takes aim at the skeletal being wrapped in shadow closest to Molly. He sends a pair of blasts hurtling across the space towards it.
Maka obediently circumnavigates the spikes until they are stood next to both the same skeletal form as Vin attacked, and the ghoul next to Molly. She then sweeps out a clawed hand at the skeletal form as directed.
During this time, Neferox is growling, looking between Vin and their adversaries. She is obviously keen to enter the fray, but doesn't want to stray too far from Vin at the moment. She looks ready to tear anything that comes close limb from limb though.

Fail taking 11 psychic damage and become stunned until the end of your next turn, 5 psychic and no stun on a save. For Maka, Molly, Sam, Elthana, Serafina)
Maka's attack succeeds bit seems to not have any effect on the creature whatsoever.
Wincing at the scream, Elthana is able to shake it off and starts moving towards Molly, trying to steer clear of Vin's shadowspawn, feeling the despair oozing off of him she doesn't need that right now.
Calling forth her eldritch tattoo, the sharp edges of the ink on her skin start to lift and rise around her. She moves till she is within 15' of the skeletal creature and sends the inky, eldritch claws towards it.
Elthana strikes out twice whilst keeping distance and bloodies the shadow wrapped creature, but somehow her bevvy of successful attacks do not fell the beast.
Gewyn rolls out from behind his cover and runs parallel to Elthana, coming up on Molly's other flank. He stabs at the ghoul with his magical longsword and throws an encouraging smile Elthana's way.
Gewyn gets around Molly clambering next to Lumithor's skull and deftly slices at the Ghoul who remains standing in spite of the guts that Gewyn has just spilled from it's body. Muir's guiding bolt slams into the core of the skeletal shadow wrapped creature and it explodes in a flash of light leaving behind only wisps of shadow which fall harmlessly to the floor.
Serafina seeing Sam in a daze runs up to stand by his side, Readying an attack with her long sword should an enemy attempt to attack him (15 to hit 13 slashing dam) Griff seeing things taking a slightly worse turn fires two arrows at the ghouls approaching Sam and Serafina, (18 to hit, 3 piercing dam. miss)
The stench of the ghouls stabs at the nostrils of those closest to them, the want to vomit is strong and makes the head swim with disgust. (Those who ended their turn within 5ft of a ghoul, (not including the dead ones) Gewyn, Molly, Maka, Make a DC 10 CON save or become poisoned until the end of your next turn.
Round 2 -Sam stunned til the end of his turn -Elthana's eldritch maul 1/10 rounds. -Muir's spike growth 2/100 rounds (C). -Sam's giants might 2/10 rounds. -Vin's summon shadow spawn 2/600 rounds (C) -Barnaby paralysed 1/10 rounds DC10 con at EoT to save.
Ghoul 5 the last of the first group through the gate reacts to its guts being spilled by lashing out at Gewyn with it's claws (14 to hit, 12 slashing damage and make a DC10 Con save or become paralysed for 10 rounds, repeating save at EoT subsequent)
The reamining shadow creature hovers through barnaby using its hover movement and incoprporeal form to get out of the midsts of battle without resistance, it hovers looking at those at the back of the party and Neferox, Vin and Muir hear a compulsion whisper into the core of their minds. (Make a DC14 WIS save or take 14 psychic damage, additionally on a fail you feel a compulsion to attack the closest ally, Muir move to melee attack Elthana, Vin move to melle attack Serafina, and Neferox move to melle attack Sam.)
The remaining two ghouls who accompanied the shadow creatures through, move forward to attack the stunned Sam, Muir's spike growth damages them further as the move forward (11 & 7 damage respectively) and Serafina gets her readied action off, slicing the one on the right hard. The accumulating damage bloodies each of the creatures, but not enough to fell them, they each strike out at Sam, One with a bite (19 to hit, 13 piercing damage) and the other with a claw (NAT 20 for 25 to hit, 23 slashing damage and make a DC10 Con save or be paralysed same as Barnaby)

-Sam's giants might 2/10 rounds.
-Vin's summon shadow spawn 2/600 rounds (C)
-Barnaby paralysed 1/10 rounds DC10 con at EoT to save.
Ghoul 5 the last of the first group through the gate reacts to its guts being spilled by lashing out at Gewyn with it's claws (14 to hit, 12 slashing damage and make a DC10 Con save or become paralysed for 10 rounds, repeating save at EoT subsequent)
The reamining shadow creature hovers through barnaby using its hover movement and incoprporeal form to get out of the midsts of battle without resistance, it hovers looking at those at the back of the party and Neferox, Vin and Muir hear a compulsion whisper into the core of their minds. (Make a DC14 WIS save or take 14 psychic damage, additionally on a fail you feel a compulsion to attack the closest ally, Muir move to melee attack Elthana, Vin move to melle attack Serafina, and Neferox move to melle attack Sam.)
The remaining two ghouls who accompanied the shadow creatures through, move forward to attack the stunned Sam, Muir's spike growth damages them further as the move forward (11 & 7 damage respectively) and Serafina gets her readied action off, slicing the one on the right hard. The accumulating damage bloodies each of the creatures, but not enough to fell them, they each strike out at Sam, One with a bite (19 to hit, 13 piercing damage) and the other with a claw (NAT 20 for 25 to hit, 23 slashing damage and make a DC10 Con save or be paralysed same as Barnaby)
